The Golden Globes: Best Television Series - Musical Or Comedy
The media can spin the death of the sitcom all they want. I'll even give them that the traditional multi-camera format that Lucy and Desi founded does seem to be dying a slow death, but comedy itself is alive and well on television. Ever since Ally McBeal stretched the definition of television comedy by daring to be nominated in comedic categories despite being an hour long "drama" (don't you know that dramas are one hour and comedies 30 minutes; it's the only way to tell the difference), the "sitcom" has morphed into the "comedy."
Almost gone is that multi-camera stage set and the live/canned studio audience. Instead we have shows that are filmed just like their dramatic counterparts that happen to be funny. And all of this year's Globe nominees for best musical or comedy TV series fit into this category (sorry According to Jim, maybe next year). Check 'em out after the jump, along with our picks for who should win!

David Duchovny returns to television
Mulder is returning to television for a pair of shows in development with Showtime. The first project, an untitled drama about a novelist with a kid, a drug problem and sex addiction, has not been officially picked up as a series. Duchovny will, however, be starring in and executive producing the pilot for the network. The second series, a comedy entitled Yoga Man, will be written by Duchovny and Bart Freundlich. Yoga Man is being described as Shampoo, but in a yoga studio.

Season Finale Mania: TV Guide in 60 seconds
This week's issue of TV Guide has all the inside scoop (without being too spoilerish) of many of the top season finales: 24, Lost, Desperate Housewives (and some of the not so top ones - is the season finale of Law and Order anything special in a season-ender sort of way?). A question: why does the TV Guide web site already have next week's issue up and not this week's issue? I know it goes on sale earlier than next week, but still.- A short interview with David Duchovny, where he reveals the title of the next movie he's writing, Bucky ****ing Dent, which I'm sure isn't going to make us Red Sox fans too happy.
