E! Channel Surfing: Watching the Unwatchable, Just to See Some Cleavage

Pretty Wild
I get it-- "sex sells," as the saying that old people say when they see a beer commercial, goes. But E! has taken this concept above and beyond. For them, sex doesn't just sell, it follows you around the store at an uncomfortable proximity, asking you every 30 seconds "if you need any help," until you ultimately scream, "Back off, Sex! I'm just looking!"

Now, I'm generally TV's biggest advocate: always looking for the positive things that shows have to offer beyond mere entertainment, but the people at E! are making that a difficult task. What I realized last night at 3AM while grinding out an atrocious episode of 'Pretty Wild' (get it? They're both pretty and wild), however, is that every day E! makes its viewers confront their own notions of dignity and self-respect by pitting their brains against their genitals in an epic battle for their souls, reducing humanity to its basest urges and tendencies. Can we overcome them? Can we balance them in a healthy way? Will Tess and Alexis install their stripper pole in time?

Stop the Kardashians, Please!

lamar_odom_khloe_kardashian_weddingDo we really need more of the Kardashian family? Apparently, E! thinks so because the network is ready to do a second spin-off of 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians,' this one all about the newlyweds, Khloe and Lamar Odom.

The plan is to show the couple as they deal with getting settled in their new home, Khloe's attempts to be a stepmother to Lamar's children and Khloe and Lamar's efforts to have a baby.

Look, we all enjoy a little Kardashian kookiness, whether it's Kourtney's crazy relationship with Scott, Kim's heartbreaking split with Reggie Bush, Kris's constant screw ups -- even Bruce's colonoscopy! This family has been fun to watch, but there is such a thing as too much Kardashian and E! could do us all of a favor by turning off the spinoff machine.
