Debbie Reynolds has never been shy talking about her relationship with Eddie Fisher and Elizabeth Taylor, a trend that continued today on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC). For the uninitiated, Fisher divorced Reynolds to marry Taylor, but Reynolds said they remained friends. In fact, she sounded downright blasé about the whole thing.

"These things happen," said Reynolds. "Best friends should stick together."

Actress and author Carrie Fisher became Elizabeth Taylor's step-daughter when Taylor married Fisher's father, singer Eddie Fisher. Although Taylor and Eddie Fisher divorced when Carrie Fisher was eight, she maintained a close relationship with Taylor, who died Wednesday at age 79.

Reflecting upon her step-mom, Fisher told 'Piers Morgan Tonight' (weekdays, 9PM ET on CNN) about a "double date" she went on with Taylor, Michael Jackson and Shirley MacLaine.

"No one noticed Shirley and I," Fisher quipped, after laying out one of the few scenarios in which she and MacLaine would be anonymous.

Like many of the luminaries Piers Morgan had on during the hour-long remembrance of Taylor, Fisher mentioned how kind and dedicated Taylor was to her friends, and spoke about the empathy the two-time Oscar Winner had for all those who were suffering.

Debbie Reynolds was still married to Eddie Fisher when Fisher and Elizabeth Taylor first got together. Reynolds' daughter Carrie Fisher has talked about the relationship in her one-woman show, 'Wishful Drinking,' and Tuesday on 'Oprah' (Weekdays, Syndicated), Reynolds addressed an even more personal question.

Oprah showed a clip of 'Drinking' where Carrie said that her father had consoled Taylor in a variety of ways. "He consoled her with flowers," said Carrie in the clip, "and ultimately, he consoled her with his penis."

When they came back from the clip, Reynolds, sitting next to her daughter, held up her thumb and forefinger to indicate a measurement less than flattering to Eddie Fisher. As the audience laughed, she stopped and demurely padded her hair.

"So you're saying there wasn't much consolation there," joked Oprah.

Eddie Fisher, the iconic pop singer, passed away Wednesday night at his home in Berkeley of complications from hip surgery, his daughter, Tricia Leigh Fisher of Los Angeles, told The Associated Press. He was 82.

"Late last evening the world lost a true America icon," Fisher's family said in a statement released by publicist British Reece. "One of the greatest voices of the century passed away. He was an extraordinary talent and a true mensch."

In the early 50s, Fisher sold millions of records with 32 hit songs including 'Thinking of You,' 'Any Time,' 'Oh, My Pa-pa,' 'I'm Yours,' and 'Wish You Were Here.' His fame was enhanced by his 1955 marriage to movie darling Debbie Reynolds -- they were touted as "America's favorite couple" -- and the birth of two children. Their daughter Carrie Fisher became a film star herself in the first three 'Star Wars' films as Princess Leia.
