'The View' Debates Herman Cain's Latest Scandal (VIDEO)
by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 29th 2011 2:10PM
Herman Cain is currently in the process of "reassessing his candidacy" after a Georgia woman came forward Monday alleging that she and the Republican presidential candidate were involved in a 13-year extramarital affair. This new revelation comes on the heels of allegations of sexual harassment from four separate women, all of which he denied fervently. The ladies of 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) tackled the scandal in their 'Hot Topics' segment, and as usual, opinions different around the table. Whoopi Goldberg observed that this latest accusation isn't against the law, and wondered if it was the public's business at all. Sherri Shepherd said it would be hard to trust a man running for president who's been this deceptive in his private life.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck Takes Sick Day From 'The View' After Argument With Bill Maher
by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 16th 2011 1:00PM
The day after getting into an awkward argument with Bill Maher that made headlines around the Web, Elisabeth Hasselbeck was noticeably absent from 'The View.'As it turns out, the whole ordeal may have left Hasselbeck with a big headache. On her Twitter account, she attributed the absence to a "major migraine."
A representative for 'The View' confirmed that Hasselbeck went home sick, telling AOL TV, "Elisabeth was here this morning in studio and was scheduled to be on the live show, she went home because she wasn't feeling well."
On Tuesday's show, Hasselbeck got into an extended confrontation with the comedian about a joke he made in February involving her and CBS correspondent Lara Logan. Despite the fact that Maher made the joke before it was publicly known that Logan had been sexually assaulted in Tahrir Square, Hasselbeck asked him if he would "say that again, if you're so supportive of women?" Later in the interview, she sarcastically said to Maher, "You're so brilliant, wow, I actually feel smarter sitting next to you." Tuesday night on 'Letterman,' Maher continued to joke about the uncomfortable interview.

Bill Maher's session with the women of 'The View' didn't go exactly to plan, thanks to Elisabeth Hasselbeck appearing to hold a grudge for an old joke he made about her. It made for such an uncomfortable moment, that David Letterman asked Maher about it on 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS)."I was abused. I felt like a teenage boy at Penn State," Maher quipped to a stunned crowd. But while Letterman's crowd wasn't sure they could get behind Maher after that joke, he said the incident with Hasselbeck united his Twitter followers behind him.
"It's always like 50/50," he admitted of his followers. "Today it was just all for me. It was like, 'thank you Elisabeth Hasselbeck for making me look good!'"

Danny DeVito Brings 'Always Sunny's' Gutter Humor to 'The View' (VIDEO)
by Alex Moaba, posted Sep 20th 2011 7:00PM
Danny DeVito is the elder statesman of the 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' cast, but that doesn't mean he's a beacon of maturity. DeVito stopped by 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) where he talked about the new, depraved 'Sunny' season and gave some Joy and Sherri some equally crass advice on how to make a marriage work.To start the segment, they showed a clip from the 'Sunny' premiere, in which Frank asked a hooker to marry him, only to see her die of a crack overdose seconds later. "In the seven seasons we've been doing the show, we bring the bar down as low as we can. If you think you're in the gutter, we're gonna excavate that gutter. But we have a lot of fun," he said.
Roseanne Discusses Marriage, 'Roseanne's Nuts' on 'The View' (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 14th 2011 7:30PM
If you, like Elisabeth Hasselbeck was on Thursday's 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), were wondering why Roseanne hasn't married her longtime boyfriend Johnny Argent, look no further than the title of her new reality show, 'Roseanne's Nuts.' Roseanne's relationship with Argent is a big part of the show, as the pair run a macadamia nut farm in Hawaii.Hasselbeck asked Roaseanne if the couple had talked about marriage, since they've been together for eight years. "It has entered the conversation, but, you know, I'm a three-time loser. I've been married and divorced three times, that's enough." She says Argent is "a fantastic man" and that the relationship works well without marriage. "Here it's been eight years and I don't hate the guy," she said. "I'm shocked. Then the other thing is, I actually care what he thinks. It's new for me."
Roseanne also shared some bonus advice she's given her kids: To never to have kids of their own, because, "They'll just screw up your life." She does love her grandkids, though. Which means her kids didn't exactly take her advice to heart.
Justin Bieber Beats Elisabeth Hasselbeck in Segway Race on 'The View' (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 23rd 2011 2:00PM
Whoopi Goldberg declared Justin Bieber to be "one of the most unique and wonderful young men I think I've met ever," Thursday on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC). The panel certainly put him through a unique gamut. First, he sang his hit song 'Never Say Never,' sitting behind the desk. Then he got a leading question from Sherri Shepherd."You have a glow, Justin, is there a reason why?" asked Shepherd as they flashed a photo of Bieber with his girlfriend, Selena Gomez. When he started to stammer, Goldberg came to the rescue. "Say no," she said. He took her advice with a fist bump and a thank you.
Bieber and Elisabeth Hasselbeck then took to a pair of Segways for a race that took them from the desk, outside of the studio, past fans waiting to catch a glimpse of Bieber, and then back to the desk. Bieber won handily, entering the studio standing backwards on his machine. Hasselbeck had no hard feelings, and the two high-fived as she finished.

by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 7th 2011 5:10PM
Representative Anthony Weiner admitted Monday in a surreal press conference that he was responsible for Tweeting a lewd photo from his Twitter account, and also revealed copped to engaging in multiple improper online relationships while in office. The reaction of the ladies on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) Tuesday ranged from outrage to bewilderment.Elisabeth Hasselbeck said that all taxpayers should speak out and demand that Weiner resign, although Barbara Walters noted that might better be left to his constituents in New York. Sherri Shepherd didn't like the fact that Weiner used his office's resources for his indiscretions.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck Calls Out Sarah Palin (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 2nd 2011 2:20PM
The race for the Republican nomination for president is a bit of a circus right now, with potential candidates looking for the right time and situation to announce, and trying to assess their chances. Mitt Romney unveils his candidacy today in New Hampshire, and today on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), Elisabeth Hasselbeck declared her support for Romney and blamed Sarah Palin's much-hyped bus tour for distracting people from more substantial matters."If I had termites in my house, I'd get someone in there who could deal with it," said Hasselbeck. "Mitt Romney, right now, his specialty is the economy. I'd have him in there. Here's why we're not hearing it: because Sarah Palin's on a bus, and right now she's manipulating in terms of media attention."
Elisabeth Hasselbeck Gets Some Birthday Softball Lessons From Nomar Garciaparra (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted May 27th 2011 6:00PM
Elisabeth Hasselbeck was a two-time Big East champion as captain of her Boston College softball team. So for her birthday this year, she wanted to get back out on the field with one of her favorite players, former Boston Red Sox shortstop Nomar Garciaparra. Today on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), she got that wish, hitting and throwing the ball around the diamond with Garciaparra, and getting a little bit of coaching.Hasselbeck looked like she could still throw, catch and bat, knocking a few over Garciaparra's head. "She bites her underlip and her eyes are focused on the baseball," he said of her performance. "And she gets really mean. It looks like she's really angry at something. That's the sign of a good hitter."
Hasselbeck even fielded a fly ball from Garciaparra. The only drawback is that she was sure Joy Behar would find some sort of pun in that.
Panel Takes Schwarzenegger to Task on 'The View' (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted May 17th 2011 5:30PM
With new details continuing to come to light daily, the Arnold Schwarzenegger / Maria Shriver divorce should continue to provide talk show fodder for some time. Today on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), the panel took aim at Schwarzenegger's philandering and the general consensus forming around his shamelessness."Who knew that 'The Sperminator' was doing more than pumping iron?" said Joy Behar, calling Schwarzenegger "out of control." Elisabeth Hasselbeck was not impressed with his claiming full responsibility for his actions, "as if he could shed the responsibility on anyone else," she said.
Most pointedly, Barbara Walters questioned Schwarzenegger's timing and motives. "He didn't tell her until after he had left being governor," she said. "What was behind it? Why did he tell her now? There's a lot that we don't know. I don't care if we know it or not, I just feel sad for her and her family."
Don't expect this to be the last Schwarzenegger discussion on 'The View.' The topic will, to be sure, be back.

by Donald Deane, posted May 13th 2011 1:45PM
Backstage at 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated), Elisabeth Hasselbeck complimented Kristen Wiig's portrayal of her on 'Saturday Night Live.' But, perhaps afraid of incurring Hasselbeck's wrath, Wiig denied that it was ever her."I love how you play me on 'SNL,'" said Hasselbeck. "You're great."
Elisabeth Hasselbeck Reads Her Bin Laden Children's Poem (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted May 4th 2011 5:55PM
Elisabeth Hasselbeck has three children, none of them more than seven years old. She said today on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) that her daughter and two sons are too young to be asking her about the assassination of terrorist Osama Bin Laden, but the prospect of it made her nervous anyway. To deal with it, she wrote a poem, which she read on the air today. It read thusly:
Osama Bin Laden was a very bad guy
He hurt many people, don't ask me why
We shot him in the head and now he is dead
Now close your eyes and go to bed
Caldecott Medal judges, take note. This could be the children's book of the year. You just need to find the right illustrator.
Sherri and Elisabeth Kiss in Honor of the Royal Wedding on 'The View' (VIDEO)
by Donald Deane, posted Apr 26th 2011 12:45PM
The ladies of 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated) wore masks of the royal family as a way to mark the upcoming wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. And, Sherri Shepherd, as William, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck, as Middleton, engaged in a lengthy make-out session that was more unsettling than anything else.Shepherd and Hasselbeck made loud kissing sounds, embraced and pushed their masked faces together in a semblance of kissing, giggling hysterically all the while. Meanwhile, Whoopi Goldberg, as Queen Elizabeth II, looked on, and she was not amused.
Joy Tries to Inject Politics Into Discussion About the Tooth Fairy on 'The View' (VIDEO)
by Donald Deane, posted Apr 25th 2011 2:30PM
During an innocent discussion by Elisabeth Hasselbeck on the loss of her daughter's first tooth on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated), Joy Behar made her best attempt to start a political argument by referring to the "birther" movement which openly questions President Barack Obama's citizenship."[My daughter] has this tooth that's wildly loose. It's just, like, hanging on my a string. So, I'm nervous. I'm like, 'I've got to get prepared before this thing falls out,'" said Hasselbeck. "So I tweeted, 'What's a tooth going for?' and 'Any new ideas for the tooth fairy?' I haven't done this before."
