Elle Fanning stars in J.J. Abrams's new movie, 'Super 8,' in which she has to drive a car. Given that Elle's only 13 years old and is therefore too young to have a driver's licence, this could have been problematic.

However, Elle let slip a few tricks of the trade on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC) and explained just how she fake-drives in the movie.

So, how do they do it? Complicated computer-generated imagery? Sophisticated remote-controlled cars? Oddly enough, in these techno-happy times, no. As Elle explained to host Jimmy Kimmel, it's much more straightforward than that. "There was a woman underneath me. She was on the floorboard of the car and she was steering it. ... They had a little steering wheel down there."

We're not sure we agree with Kimmel that it sounds like the worst job ever, but we don't think it would be a barrel of laughs.

After 95 million record-setting votes, the most ever at this point in the competition, we learned the fate of the final three.

But not before Nicole Scherzinger and 50 Cent, accompanied by a very loud smoke machine, took to the stage for our entertainment. Add J.J. Abrams and an Italian boy band to the mix and you've got yourself another totally random results show. Also on tap was a more extensive look at the Top 3 homecoming visits this past weekend.

On 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' (weekdays, syndicated), Ellen DeGeneres explained that while at her farm, which she visits to escape the "mean streets of Beverly Hills," she recently noticed a movie filming just down the road.

During a visit to the set, DeGeneres met one of the stars of the upcoming film, a rather hairy actress who's appeared in 'The Hangover 2,' and both 'Night at the Museum' movies among others.

During Philbin's 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire' days, 6-year-old Fanning, her mother and 2-year-old sister Elle went to the mall to buy a Philbin-brand tie for their dad and get his autograph. Philbin signed the receipt ("38 bucks for the tie," Jimmy Kimmel noted), and Fanning was satisfied. Her little sister was not.

"She's in my mom's arms," said Fanning. "She didn't get an autograph and didn't get to meet Regis. So we're walking away through the Macy's, and my sister's going, 'Regis, Regis!' -- crying for Regis!"

"Yeah, well nothing breaks a kid's heart like not getting to meet Regis," joked Kimmel, comparing him to yet another current idol popular with teen girls...

(S01E08) Well, you guys were right about the way Connie Nielsen's character was going to exit the show. Det. Dani Beck has been getting increasingly upset over the victims of SVU cases and this week's case was just too much for her to handle. Pity. I was actually starting to enjoy her character, who started out as a reckless cop with bad judgment but ended as an emotional wreck with bad judgment.

Former Six Feet Under actor Peter Krause just agreed to play the lead role in a SciFi Channel original mini-series, or as SciFi calls it, "limited series". Whatever. The series is called The Lost Room, about a motel room that contains mysterious power and all the objects in the room are charmed. Krause will play the detective who stumbles upon a key to the room, opens it up, and heaps a world of trouble on himself. His daughter, who disappears in the room, will be played by Elle Fanning, younger sister of Dakota. Filming for the series begins next Wednesday in Albuquerque, New Mexico, but no air date has been announced.
