'American Idol' - 'Two of 9 Voted Off' Recap
by Kona Gallagher, posted Apr 14th 2010 11:22PM

After Big Mike's dramatic save last week, this show is being set up to be super-intense. Not only have the judges used their only save, but as the title indicates, two people are going home. But before that, we need a lot of filler. We have performances by Brooke White and Adam Lambert, which wow -- I enjoyed Brooke when she was on the show, but I can honestly say I haven't thought of her since.
We don't start off the show with any of this. Instead, we start off with the longest Elvis medley ever. It was so long, in fact, that I'm pretty sure they sang every single Elvis song ever written, four songs written by Elvis impersonators, and a verse from "Allison," just to round things out a little bit.
Alyson Hannigan Struggles With German Accent (VIDEO)
by Chris Harnick, posted Apr 14th 2010 5:15PM
In a game with Ellen DeGeneres on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' (weekdays, syndicated) Alyson Hannigan did her best at a variety of accents, but when it came down to German, well, she had some difficulties. The duo flew through a variety of accents from Brooklyn to Valley Girl, but impersonating a German person was Hannigan's downfall.
"Daaah, yahh, germ," Hannigan grunted. "Oh, stand in line!" Still, DeGeneres didn't get it, not that we fault her because we would've been as lost as she was if we didn't see the big card that said "German."

'American Idol' - 'Top 9 Compete ... Again' Recap
by Jane Boursaw, posted Apr 14th 2010 4:08AM
"My tongue is not nearly as talented as yours." - Ryan Seacrest to Adam LambertIt was an interesting night on 'American Idol,' as that statement suggests. Obviously, Ryan was talking about Adam's tongue action while singing, but when he said it, Adam's eyebrows went up. He and Ryan would make a cute couple, wouldn't they?
Anyway, Ryan's mom was in the audience, too, which made things even more interesting. That and the fact that after Big Mike's save last week -- which I'm thankful for -- the Idols are definitely feeling the pressure. Two -- count 'em, two -- people will be sent packing this week.
Based on the performances, I'm guessing they won't be the ones we predict. Meaning that Tim Urban and Andrew Garcia will still be here after tonight. Ok, maybe not Andrew.
Kirstie Alley Talks About Dating Older Men on 'Ellen' (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Apr 13th 2010 10:50PM
Kirstie Alley is 59 years old and is still looking for Mr. Right. And on the latest episode of 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' (weekdays, syndicated) she discussed the dating problems that she faces as an older woman. "I don't know what I'm looking for,' she said to DeGeneres. But Alley knows what she's not looking for. And she seems to have a few issues with men her own age. "The guys that are my age ... they all look like Lloyd Bridges." Hmm. We can see how that could be a problem. So, does Alley want a younger man?Watch the video after the jump.
A Whale of a Tale on 'Ellen' (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Apr 12th 2010 9:05PM
On the latest episode of 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' (weekdays, syndicated), Ellen DeGeneres talked to special guest Jodie Nelson, who had... quite an unusual story to tell. Nelson recently paddled in the ocean from Catalina to Dana Point in California -- a nine hour journey that had only previously been done by three others. But during her trip, Nelson was joined by a whale, who stayed with her for nearly two hours!Watch the video after the jump.
Carol Burnett Talks Angelina Jolie and Today's Funny Ladies (VIDEO)
by Donald Deane, posted Apr 12th 2010 1:30PM
If Carol Burnett had her choice of any actress to play her in a biopic, she'd choose none other than Angelina Jolie, she said on 'The Rachael Ray Show' (weekdays, syndicated). However, when Burnett plumps up her lips in an exaggerated impression of Jolie, something tells us she's not being entirely serious. Burnett also said she finds today's crop of funny ladies highly entertaining. When Rachael Ray asks Burnett who makes her laugh, she says, "Well, I love the ladies. I love Tina Fey and Amy [Poehler], Tracey Ullman and Ellen DeGeneres."

Shemar Moore ('Criminal Minds') has a glowing, bald pate now, but it wasn't always that way.On Wednesday's 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' (weekdays, syndicated), the actor shared with DeGeneres some photos from earlier times. First up was a photo of Moore with his mother, "right after the Michael Jackson craze and when Prince got hot," Moore said. Didi Benami Sings, Talks Ryan Seacrest on 'Late Show' (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Apr 7th 2010 4:29AM
Now that she's off 'American Idol,' perhaps she could speak frankly on a few things about 'Idol' that appear to be bugging David Letterman. That seemed to be the premise when she visited the 'Late Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS) last night and performed Kara DioGuardi's "Terrified."Dave asked her, "By the way, why is Ryan Seacrest on this show?" and "What about that Simon Cowell -- what is he sitting on?"
Didi gave some tactful answers and added that -- like other ex-'Idol' contestants this year -- she was grateful for Ellen Degeneres' presence on the judges' panel. "She added comic relief," Didi explained.

'American Idol' - 'Nine Finalists Compete' Recap
by Kona Gallagher, posted Apr 7th 2010 12:28AM

We're finally into the single digits tonight, but we're still going for two hours. It's Lennon/McCartney night, and Seacrest starts out by saying they have the most recognizable songs in the world. Would you agree with that? Do you think that they or Elvis were more popular worldwide? In any case, Paul McCartney gave his blessing to these contestants, so here's hoping they don't screw it up. Of course, just based on Siobhan's outfit alone, I'm a little nervous going into it.
Turns out, though, I have nothing to be nervous about. Overall, this is my favorite episode of 'Idol' so far this season. There were several performances that I enjoyed, and many that took me by surprise. Plus, 'Idol' instituted a new thing that I actually like: the interviews in which the contestants talk about each other. It was cool to hear how people are perceived in the house, but more than that, Crystal's comment about how she loves the fact that Andrew and Lee can get married and have lots of "little Danny Gokey babies" is still cracking me up.
After the Oprah-calypse: Who Can Fill Oprah's Seat?
by Stephanie Earp, posted Apr 6th 2010 11:58PM

Rumor has it that Rosie O'Donnell is being set up as Oprah's replacement when the Daytime Queen retires from her eponymous show in 2011. At least that's how the industry gossips put it. The truth is that while Rosie is planning a talk show to launch when the Oprah set goes dark, it's being produced by a different company and will probably run on cable, not on ABC.
But who can resist speculating about who could replace Oprah Winfrey? Since Oprah announced that her show would be ending its 25-year run, a short list of possible candidates has included Ellen DeGeneres, Rachael Ray, Martha Stewart, Sarah Palin, Tyra Banks and even Michelle Obama. But I think Oprah is irreplaceable. Sure, you could give another woman her time-slot, but in the world of daytime talk, time-slots are meaningless. You live or die on your own ability to capture the public imagination.
