Review: Desperate Housewives - How About a Friendly Shrink?
by Isabelle Carreau, posted Jan 17th 2010 11:45PM

(S06E13) "The number one rule to a successful dinner party: keep discussion about your marriage to a minimum." - Mary Alice
Let's face it, all the Wisteria Lane residents need some one-on-one time with a shrink. From past episodes, we know that Tom and Lynette need to discuss their issues with the loss of the baby, Lynette's need for control and Tom's frustrations; while Orson and Bree need to cope with her affair with Karl and Orson being in a wheelchair and acting like a spoiled brat. This week, we can add that Gaby and Susan need to get over their need for competition and accept their children as they are; Bob and Lee must deal with their marital problems; and Angie needs advice so she can let new people in her life, aka Ana as Danny's new girlfriend.
Out of our favorite Wisteria Lane residents, only five met with a shrink and that includes Katherine, whom we finally (!) get news of.
Review: Desperate Housewives - You Gotta Get a Gimmick
by Isabelle Carreau, posted Jan 11th 2010 1:00AM

(S06E12) After a dramatic plane crash and the housewives wondering what could happen as they tried to cope with their losses, it's time to return to normal life -- as much as one can have a normal life on Desperate Housewives that is -- on Wisteria Lane.
We resume about month after Karl's death. Julie and Susan learn what Karl left them in his will; Bree tries to get Orson to move back home; Lynette wants to know what will happen to her job; Gaby and Carlos try to get Juanita in a school. As for Katherine, she is still missing in action this week as she is still locked in the loony bin.

(S06E11) "No one knows who survived that terrible plane crash. Or more importantly, who didn't." - Mary
The plane crash that happened in episode "Boom Crunch" left us wondering if some of the Wisteria Lane citizens would make it alive or not. My predictions were that Karl, Celia and Mona would die. Some TV Squad readers predicted that Lynette would lose one of her yet-to-be-born twins because she threw herself in harm's way to protect one of the Solises kids.
Desperate Housewives' first episode of 2010 confirmed some of our predictions while treating us to the much advertised what if/ flashfoward episode of the series.
Which prediction was right? Answers and my two cents about the "what if" sequences, and more, coming up!
The weirdest thing you'll see all day: Eva Longoria and Tony Parker do Grease
by Kona Gallagher, posted Dec 29th 2009 6:03PM
I ran across this video while perusing Gawker, and I honestly have no idea what it is. Well, that's not true: I know what it is, it's a shot-by-shot remake of the songs "Summer Lovin'" from Grease, starring Desperate Housewives' Eva Longoria-Parker and her husband, NBA player, Tony Parker. What I don't have an answer for, is why.Other than Tony talking in the beginning, the video is completely lip-synced, so neither one is trying to show off their vocal talents. Her wig looks like she scalped a parcel of barbies, and his looks like he's trying to honor a beloved, yet dead family pet by gently nestling it on his cranium for the rest of eternity, so "looking good" can't be much of a motive either.

(S06E10) "Your mom needs help, and so does Mike." - Susan to Dylan
There we go, dear TV Squad readers, a few of our wishes and theories concerning Desperate Housewives have come true this week in the Christmas-themed installment of the show. I mentioned a few weeks back that I wanted Dylan, Katherine's daughter, to come back to Wisteria Lane and help her mother, and it came true. And two weeks ago, a few of you predicted the accurate turn of events concerning Katherine's stabbing.
But Katherine's crazy storyline wasn't the important event of the last episode of 2009. As teased for weeks, the lives of the Wisteria Lane citizens were rocked by a boom and a crunch.

(S06E09) "I don't care how you go. I just want you gone." - Carlos to Lynette
As we all expected, this week's installment of Desperate Housewives marked the beginning of the war between Carlos and Lynette over the fact that she is pregnant and hid her pregnancy as long as she could so she wouldn't be fired.
Carlos may have won the first battle, but the war is far from over as Lynette will not go down without fighting as hard as she can. Who will win the war? Only time will tell. One thing is certain, it will take a lot of time for the Scavos and Solises to be the friends they once were.

(S06E08) "I could see shooting someone over you." - The judge to Mike
This week, Susan had to face the fact that she accidentally shot Katherine a few weeks back. Sadly for Susan, she had to face a judge who had humor when giving sentences and who allowed Katherine to say a few words before sentencing Susan. As expected, things didn't turn out the way Susan would have wanted them to turn out. However, Susan got exactly the type of sentence that offered us some fun war scenes between Katherine and her.
'Lopez Tonight' Gets a Premiere Present: Eva Longoria Working a Stripper Pole
by Donald Deane, posted Nov 10th 2009 8:46AM
Making good on a promise she made to George Lopez should his late-night talk show show get picked up, Eva Longoria Parker attempted to wow the crowd with her moves on a stripper pole on last night's premiere of 'Lopez Tonight.'Although protesting mildly, the star of 'Desperate Housewives' still managed to pull off what online pole dancing tutorials tell us is a back hook spin. Not to be outdone, Lopez tried his hand at the pole himself while wearing a suit and ended up none too gracefully on the floor. Now that's sexy.

(S06E07) "There are two sides to every story." - Nick
And to finish that thought, Lynette said, "Yeah, well your side is married." Which sums up part of what this episode covered -- the fact that Julie and Nick had an affair, and Lynette found out about it and confronted him. During the scene, I thought to myself, why is Lynette confronting him? What does she hope to gain from it? But I can see why she did it -- to try and protect Julie.
I'm filling in for Isabelle this week (apologies for my lateness on the review), so be gentle with me. Mostly what occurred to me about this episode was how thin all the ladies have gotten again. For a while there, it seemed like some of them bulked up to at least a size two. Now they're all back down to a size 0. Bree runs a catering service, for cripes sake, and looks like she hasn't eaten in weeks. Sandwiches for all. Oh, and Carlos is looking more and more like John Travolta. And thank God for Kathy Najimy.

(S06E06) "Aren't you glad I'm not crazy anymore?" - Katherine to Susan
To our pleasure and amusement, Katherine is still crazy and maybe even more than before. She is so deeply in denial that she can't see the truth anymore and thinks her make-believe world is accurate.
I've had to teach a teen who was in such a denial a few years back -- he was making up all sort of lies to hide the fact that things weren't going well at home, so he made up this "other and better" life. I can tell you that it's extremely difficult to help the person come back to reality and also to differentiate if what they tell us is true or false, since they are really convincing as, to them, their world is accurate. It needs a lot of therapy to help someone like that come back to reality.
Since Katherine is not getting the help she needs to deal with her denial, fantasies and problems, she will keep plotting to get Mike back and hurt people in the process, including herself. It won't be pretty when she'll hit rock bottom.
Review: Desperate Housewives - Everybody Ought to Have a Maid
by Isabelle Carreau, posted Oct 26th 2009 12:19AM

(S06E05) "You seem like a nice lady. Don't you ever feel guilty?" - The maid to Bree
This week's episode was pretty much what I call a "filler episode". Yes, there was some progress in the storylines but if someone missed this week's installment of Desperate Housewives, they won't be totally lost next week.
Even if "Everybody Ought to Have a Maid" wasn't the best DH episode so far this season, I did enjoy the dialog between Bree and the maid concerning Bree's affair with Karl, as well as Julie's return home after two weeks in the hospital, especially since her return meant that she would run into Nick eventually.

(S06E04) "Even the people we love keep secrets." - Mary Alice
Mary Alice probably told us twice a season in her narration that people on Wisteria Lane had secrets. This week's Desperate Housewives main secrets involve: the Bolens are afraid Danny will spill out their secrets and we learn a bit more about Angie's scar; thanks to Andrew, Susan learns some of Julie's secrets; Lynette tries to hide her secret from Carlos but the body changes pregnant women experience are making it more difficult for her to hide her pregnancy; Bree lies to Katherine so that the latter doesn't discover the affair with Karl.
Desperate Housewives: Never Judge a Lady by Her Lover

(S06E03) "You wanted to look pretty for your ex-lover." - Carlos to GabyAs advertised on most TV sites over the past few weeks, the cutie gardener and Gaby's ex-lover is back! John Rowland, whom we last saw in season four married to a rich daddy's girl, returned to Wisteria Lane this week to cause chaos.
Is John still married? Did he try to seduce Gaby or another Wisteria Lane citizen? Answers coming up after the jump, along with my take on John's return, which was first rumored to happen in the season five finale.
Desperate Housewives: Being Alive

(S06E02) "She's like the nicest girl in the world. Who'd want to hurt her?" - Wisteria Lane residents as they learn about Julie
It's the day after Susan and Mike's wedding, but also the day after Julie got attack by an unknown assailant. The Wisteria Lane residents quickly gather on the scene and try to make sense of it all. Who would hurt the nicest young adult female on the street?
As expected, fingers are quickly pointed in Danny Bolen's direction. But did he do it? Detectives, as well as the Wisteria Lane men and us, loyal Desperate Housewives viewers, are on the case.
Desperate Housewives: Nice Is Different Than Good (season premiere)

(S06E01) "Just last month, she took something of mine." - The woman who didn't get Mike about the woman who did get him
Finally! We learned who Mike married in the season finale and, luckily, we didn't have to wait long to get the answer, as it was revealed within the first minute. Then again, if you read ABC's official description for the fourth episode of the season over the weekend, they spoiled the first scene for you, as they clearly stated whom Mike didn't marry.
I don't get why ABC couldn't be cryptic in their description or at least wait until tomorrow before releasing it, especially since they have been trying very hard to keep the name of the bride a secret.
