It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Christmas Special rolls out red carpet
by John Scott Lewinski, posted Nov 15th 2009 9:05AM
The cast of the FX sitcom It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia gathered a stone's throw from Beverly Hills this week to celebrate the release of the show's new Christmas special.A Very Sunny Christmas arrives on Blu-ray and DVD November 17 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. Fox teamed with Maxim Magazine to hold a festive bash last Thursday night at Guys and Dolls Lounge in the shadow of Cedar Sinai Hospital on Beverly Blvd. (Event gallery below.)
A modest red carpet set-up gathered a cramped collection of reporters and photographers together to greet the arrivals of show stars Danny DeVito, Kaitlin Olson, Rob McElhenney, Glenn Howerton and Charlie Day.
As if looking to mimic the bleak Philadelphia winter, rain sprinkled the LA streets in the hours leading up to the event -- and temperatures hovering in the low 50s made it a goose bumpy night for the several cocktail dress-clad ladies mingling in the crowd.

Rifftrax hits theaters nationwide with Plan 9 from Outer Space
by John Scott Lewinski, posted Jul 16th 2009 10:04AM
Rifftrax, the Mystery Science Theater 3000 descendant written and performed by Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett, is taking its show live to the nation's movie theaters on August 20.In a move sure to draw desperate MST3K fans from out of their parents' basements (this reporter among them -- though my folks' old house only has a washer/dryer downstairs), Fathom Events will present the Rifftrax trio live in theaters via vid-cast up on the big screen.
They'll take on Ed Wood's classically inept Plan 9 from Outer Space, a movie they've wrestled with on DVD and in past live shows.
Bret Michaels loses one round fight with Tony Awards set
by John Scott Lewinski, posted Jun 8th 2009 6:26PM
Rock of Love star Bret Michaels ran smack into a descending piece of stage scenery at Sunday night's Tony Awards, going down for the count with multiple injuries. You can watch the video here, or just watch after the jump. If you're not a fan of Michaels, his band (Poison) or his "looking for romance" reality show, you should resist the urge to watch it about 10 times while giggling. It's wrong to laugh at another person's misfortune. This reporter would certainly never dream of enjoying something like this.
MIchaels' injuries include a broken nose and three stitches in his lip. He had a CAT scan today as a precaution s he has an old neck injury. No word what effect the impact had on his permanent make-up.
Just how popular is Grey's Anatomy anyway?
by Jay Black, posted Feb 18th 2007 10:22AM
There's a serious problem at this nation's colleges. Something more serious than liberal professors, binge drinking, and crystal-meth combined. Yes, I'm talking about Dempsey-Mania. For the second time in the last week, I've had a comedy performance at a college scheduled so that it didn't conflict with the Thursday night airing of Grey's Anatomy. Now, I realize that I'm slightly less yummy than Dr. McDreamy (ahem), but come on -- a live performance (of anything, not just me) surely has to out-rank a TV show, right?
More disturbing to me is the fact that at none of the colleges I'm performing at this year (I'm scheduled to be at around 100) are doing this for any other show. Shows that I thought would be perfect college "event" shows (like The Office or Lost) are ignored, while Grey's Anatomy is tip-toed around. I don't watch the show, so I thought I'd put it to the commentators: what is it about this show in particular that drives college kids so crazy?
