Jeremy Irons Asks the Farrelly Brothers for a Job (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Feb 23rd 2011 6:00AM
The first cut of the film that made Peter and Bobby Farrelly famous, 'Dumb and Dumber,' was three and a half hours long, they shared on 'Late Night' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on NBC). The brothers screened it for their friends, and one called it "the all-time worst movie." Ouch.A lot has changed for the screenwriting and directing duo since 1994. The Farrellys have gone on to helm more than 10 comedies, and even directed host Jimmy Fallon in 'Fever Pitch.'
"I think your films are wonderful," said fellow 'Late Night' guest Jeremy Irons. Bobby Farrelly asked, "Are you outta work?" Irons replied, "They never come to me for comedy. I don't know why." Fallon loved the idea: "Let's have Jeremy Irons be in a comedy! C'mon, let's make this happen!" So, how 'bout it?

Fox really only has a handful of new pilots to premiere next season because it's holding on to mega ratings-getters like American Idol, House, Prison Break, and 24... to name a few. It's replacing last season's stinkers such as Standoff and Justice. At its upfronts presentation last month, the net announced two new reality shows, three new comedies and five new dramas. Of those, we have seen all the comedies and dramas except a drama called Nashville, which Fox has not yet released for preview.
The Upfronts: FOX

This year, FOX is hoping for a stronger fall season with a shorter baseball hiatus. Instead of 26 game nights, FOX is expecting to air only 14 games leading up to and including the World Series. Once again, FOX's January schedule has FOX poised for a win in ratings with non-stop 24 and renewal of American Idol. One schedule item worth noting is The Sarah Connor Chronicles, based on the Terminator movies. Fox chose to hold it until mid-season because they want a strong female audience, which is something they get when American Idol returns. In: 'Til Death, House, Bones, The Simpsons, Family Guy, King of the Hill, American Dad, America's Most Wanted, Cops, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?, American Idol, 24, Prison Break,
New: K-Ville, New Amsterdam, The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Back to You, Return of Jezebel James, Rules for Starting Over, Kitchen Nightmares, Canterbury's Law, Nashville
Out: The Winner, Standoff, Drive, The War at Home, The O.C., Justice, Happy Hour, The Rich List, Vanished, The Wedding Bells, The Loop
Moving: 'Til Death, Bones (spring)
Fox and the Farrelly brothers team up
by Julia Ward, posted Dec 8th 2006 1:23PM
Fox has given a script order to a new sitcom from the Farrelly brothers, writers Chris Pappas and Mike Bernier and producer Brad Johnson. Called The Rules for Starting Over, the sitcom focuses on a thirty-something guy who is entering the dating scene after a divorce. He's got a bunch of male buddies - also divorced. All of them learning that, yes, the rules of dating in your 30s are much different than the rules of dating in your 20s.Let's muse for a moment on just how different. There's the whole biological clock thing you've got to look out for in your 30s. People are more likely to have entered the stage of dating where they're "shopping for a life partner" rather than just having a good time. There's less sloppy "hooking up" and, I'm guessing, you're less likely to stumble your way into a threesome. Those things require planning when you're not in college or the Real World house. The internet may play a bigger part in your dating life than it ever has. If you "let yourself go" during your marriage, than you've got to lower your superficiality standards or whip yourself back into marketable shape. Wow, is there anything good about dating in your 30s? Sex in the City made it look so kinky.
