A former female writer at Late Night with David Letterman has dropped a bombshell in a Vanity Fair article in which she complained of a "hostile work environment for women". While he didn't hit on the writer, she claims that she noticed Letterman paid "extra attention" to her and had a reputation of sleeping with female workers.

While this could be a legitimate complaint, I find it somewhat suspicious that she waited until now to write about this. It could be a case of jumping on a bandwagon or she may have been afraid to say anything for fear of repercussions (as in "you'll never work in this industry again").

There is also that fine line between taking advantage of a subordinate and flirting. Not having been there, it's difficult to access what the case actually was. Mind you, flirting with subordinates at the workplace is probably not a good idea in this litigious society, but he was likely so busy with the show, how else was he going to meet single women? Match.com?

Certain shows seem to be perfect for certain television networks. That's the point of programming, no doubt, and Lifetime has done a good job filling their female-centric niche with TV movies and series like Army Wives. That said, I think there will soon be a new favorite on Lifetime and it's called Drop Dead Diva. It's chick-flick, rom-com for weekly TV viewers, and while men might enjoy the whimsical plot and attractive characters, this is a show that ladies will adore.

If you were talking high concept like a Hollywood pitchman, you could describe Drop Dead Diva as Ally McBeal for the Lane Bryant set. Or maybe it's Sara Lee meets Heaven Can Wait. However, you put it, Drop Dead Diva is a switcheroo story about a vapid, but lovable, gorgeous size 2 model who dies at the exact same time as a brilliant, generous size 16 workaholic attorney, and in one of those wonderful Hollywood comedy devices, shallow Deb's spirit winds up in good Jane's body.

Kevin Blatt, the man behind the Paris Hilton sex tape, is holding a press conference today to talk about his new reality show, Virgin Territory, and to unveil giant billboards in New York City's Times Square and Los Angeles seeking untouched individuals.

According to this NY Times review of Blatt's film American Cannibal, the original concept of Virgin Territory was to have male virgins compete for the chance to lose their virginity to a porn star. The twist? It's Ron Jeremy.

Okay, I made up the part about Ron Jeremy, though it would be really funny. This recent press release doesn't specify whether Blatt is seeking male virgins, female virgins, or both, or if the concept of the series has changed at all. There's also no mention of any network taking an interest in the project, so who knows if we'll ever actually see it? Then again, would anyone want to?

A poll recently commissioned by the Oxygen Network --a channel continuously beaten out by the Hydrogen Network on the Periodic Table of Ratings -- revealed that women these days would much rather have a plasma screen television than a diamond necklace. The poll was meant to show how women are actually becoming more interested in tech gadgets these days. It also revealed that most women would rather have a new digital camera than a new pair of shoes. Apparently they didn't poll homeless women; I'm sure the results would have been different. Anyway, gentlemen, now you know what to get your lady for that next special occasion: a diamond-encrusted plasma television that dispenses shoes with a camera inside of them. That way you've covered all your bases.
