by Oliver Miller, posted Dec 20th 2010 3:29AM
Who Is the Winner of 'Survivor: Nicaragua'?After 39 days in the wilderness, after living through fire and rain, after the players survived stolen food and even survived NaOnka -- it was time to declare a winner on 'Survivor: Nicaragua' (Sun., 8PM ET on CBS).

Five contestants entered the finale, but Dan was voted out after the first immunity challenge, and Holly -- the last female contestant -- was voted out following the second challenge. This left us with the all-male group of Chase, Fabio and Sash. And the winner of 'Survivor: Nicaragua' is ...

On His Final Show, Larry King Says Goodbye to ... Larry King (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Dec 17th 2010 1:40AM
On His Final Show, Larry King Says Goodbye to ... Larry KingIt was like looking into a mirror -- a mirror of journalistic awesomeness. On the final episode of 'Larry King Live' (weeknights, 9PM ET on CNN), Larry welcomed a parade of special guests, including former President Bill Clinton, Tony Bennett, Regis Philbin, and Arnold Schwarzenegger -- all of whom paid their respects to the host, as he ended his CNN talk show after 25 years on the air.

But perhaps the most "special" guest was ... Mr. Larry King himself (played by comedian Fred Armisen). Fake "Larry" interviewed real Larry, and asked the host some probing but severely odd questions, including, "Now, Larry, what's been my favorite interview?" and "What's the most interesting thing about me?"

Real Larry also complimented fake "Larry" on his outfit -- which, of course, included his trademark glasses and some brightly colored suspenders.

'The Biggest Loser' Season 10 Finale -- And the Winner Is ...Well, it's been a long road on 'The Biggest Loser' (Tue., 9PM ET on NBC). But the season came to an end tonight when one winner was crowned. Four contestants remained: Ada, Elizabeth, Frado and Patrick. Only one of them could take home the $250,000 grand prize.

"This is it," host Alison Sweeney said. "We are all down to this final weigh-in." And so, your winner of 'The Biggest Loser,' Season 10 was ...

... Patrick House! The 28-year-old father of two lost 181 pounds, a whopping 45.25 percent of his starting body weight. Confetti fell from the ceiling, as his family members in the audience embraced. Patrick started the show at 400 pounds and he leaves weighing 219 -- and with a quarter of a million dollars lining his pockets. He beat out Alfrado "Frado" Dinten, who came in second after losing 162 pounds.

'The Amazing Race' Season Finale -- Who Are the Winners? (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Dec 13th 2010 5:32AM
'The Amazing Race' Season Finale -- Who Are the Winners? Well, everything must come to an end. After four continents and 30 different countries, this season of 'The Amazing Race' (Sun., 8PM ET on CBS) came to a halt. To reach the finish line, the teams had to cover over 32,000 miles. (For comparison's sake, circling the entire globe is only a 22,000-mile journey.)

The last three teams consisted of home-shopping hosts Brook and Claire, doctors Nat and Kat, and boyfriend/girlfriend couple Thomas and Jill. For the final episode, the teams left South Korea, and headed to Los Angeles. And our winners were ...

'The Apprentice' Season 10 Finale -- The Winner Is Revealed (VIDEO)

'The Apprentice' Season 10 Finale -- The Winner Is Revealed As we all know, each episode of 'The Apprentice' ends with the dreaded words "You're fired!" from Donald Trump. But once every season, we get to mix it up, as the most promising candidate is actually ... hired.

Tonight's finale (Thu., 8PM ET on NBC) came down to a choice between Brandy Kuentzel and Clint Robertson, the two survivors out of the sixteen original contestants. Clint and Brandy sat nervously in the wood-paneled boardroom, as "The Donald" glared down at them from his high-backed chair. The pair made their final pitches, and then Trump made his final pronouncement.

And the winner of 'The Apprentice' Season 10 was --

'Boardwalk Empire' Season Finale: A Father, Son, and Brother Plot Nucky's Destruction (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Dec 6th 2010 10:21AM
'Boardwalk Empire' Season Finale: A Father, Son, and Brother Plot Nucky's Destruction"The past is never dead. In fact, it's not even past." Novelist William Faulkner wrote these words about the American South. But they could just as easily apply to the crumbling seaside kingdom of 'Boardwalk Empire' (Sun., 9PM ET on HBO). The show's season finale is ironically titled "A Return to Normalcy" -- but in the end ... nothing really ends.

'Boardwalk Empire' is set during the Roaring Twenties, but its ideas about politics and corruption are as current as today's headlines. Some things never change, after all. In the course of the finale, Crime boss Enoch "Nucky" Thompson (Steve Buscemi) defeats his foes, securing his position at the top of the Atlantic City criminal empire. "God bless America!" he says, right before his moment of political triumph. (Some things really never change.)

But Nucky's victory might just be an illusion. Waiting in the wings are three men who want to take him down.

'Bad Girls Club' Season Finale: Body Blows, Silly String, and One Last Brawl (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Nov 24th 2010 10:30AM
'Bad Girls Club' Reunion Finale: Body Blows, Silly String, and One Last Brawl Previously, on part one of the 'Bad Girls Club' reunion -- the girls got in a fight. " ... But that's all that ever happens on 'Bad Girls Club,'" you're saying to yourself.

True, but this is why we watch the show. It's as reliable as an old grandfather clock. And it's oddly comforting to know that -- no matter what -- these ladies will always be screaming insults and pulling each others' hair.

Still, that was just part one of the reunion. Tonight's season finale (Tue., 10PM ET on Oxygen) was part two, and in honor of that ... the girls got into another fight. But this one involved silly string! And if you're not "into" watching sexy young women roll around in tight dresses, while being sprayed with silly string -- well, you're a very strong and moral person, and we salute you.

The exact cause of tonight's fight was vague. It had something to do with Lea getting mad at Kristen ... for spray-painting her room in the 'Bad Girl' house ... a really long time ago. Lea wanted to know if Kristen thought she was a "bad b*tch" for doing this. "I want to know!!!" she yelled.

Who Is the Winner of the 'Top Chef: Just Desserts' Finale? (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Nov 18th 2010 8:10AM
Who Is the Winner of the 'Top Chef: Just Desserts' Finale? There's nothing sweeter than the taste of a delicious dessert. Well, except for the taste of victory -- that's probably sweeter. Luckily, the two came together on the finale of 'Top Chef: Just Desserts' (Wed., 10PM ET on Bravo).

The show crowned its first champion -- one player would be walking away with $100,000. Our choices were: series "bad guy" Morgan Wilson, "underdog" Danielle Keene, or "perfectionist" Yigit Pura. Each chef got to create a four-course dessert menu -- there were no rules, no set ingredients. The only limits were the players' imaginations.

And so, our winner was ...

Who Won 'Project Runway' Season 8? (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Oct 29th 2010 5:45AM
Who Won 'Project Runway' Season 8?The goal of 'Project Runway' -- as described by Tim Gunn's catchphrase -- is to "Make it work." Of course, it's a lot of work to make it work, and not everyone can handle it. Some players don't have the talent, some don't have the drive. It takes 14 weeks to sort the good from the bad.

But nothing lasts forever -- not even the lengthiest season of 'Runway' ever. And so we reached the finale (Thu., 9PM ET on Lifetime). Three finalists remained: Andy South, Gretchen Jones, and Mondo Guerra. Who would win? Heidi Klum called it the "toughest decision" in the show's history -- but really, it was and it wasn't.

'The Real World' Finale: Knight Takes Us Out With Some Spanking (VIDEO)

'The Real World' Finale: Knight Takes Us Out With Some SpankingThis is the end of 'The Real World' (Wed., 10PM ET on MTV). Well, it's not really the end. The show has been around for twenty-four seasons, and god knows, it'll probably be around for twenty-four more. This is the finale of the current New Orleans season, though -- and the castmates took us out in traditional classy 'Real World' style: With some vandalism and some spanking.

Sahar was busy lamenting that soon she would be gone from the house on Dufossat Street -- along with all the other housemates. So Knight made an effort to raise everyone's spirits. (Or maybe he was just being crazy; it's always hard to tell with Knight.)

'Lie to Me' Season Finale: Lightman Has the "Sex Talk" With His Daughter (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Sep 13th 2010 11:53PM
'Lie to Me' Finale: Lightman Has the 'Sex Talk' With His DaughterWell, we all have our little blind spots. And usually, these blind spots relate to our friends or loved ones. Dr. Cal Lightman (Tim Roth) is an expert at uncovering the truth and decoding the body language of others. But it turns out that he's not so good at this when it comes to his own daughter.

On the season finale of 'Lie to Me' (Mon., 9PM ET on Fox), Lightman arrives home to find his teenager daughter Emily (Hayley McFarland) messing around with a boy upstairs. Cal is outraged, and forces the young man (played by Carter Jenkins) to leave. Emily is pretty upset herself, and says this to her father: "It's just sex, dad!" Which really doesn't improve the situation.

Is the 'Persons Unknown' Finale the Worst Series Finale Ever?Well, we were promised answers. And we didn't really get them. This was the two-hour season finale of 'Persons Unknown' (Sat., 9PM ET on NBC). Considering that the show has gotten incredibly low ratings, it seems highly doubtful that it will be back next year. Thus, this is essentially our series finale as well. So, were all the loose ends tied up?

Who Is the Winner of 'The Next Food Network Star'? (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Aug 16th 2010 4:20AM
Who Is the Winner of 'The Next Food Network Star'?'The Next Food Network Star' (Sun., 9PM ET on Food Network) is a fairly self-explanatory show. It's nice when a title pretty much explains it all. The winner of the contest gets to be the next ... star ... on the Food Network. And then they get to have their own series on the cable channel. (Along with such stars as Emeril and Rachael Ray).

Slightly shockingly, the guy (or girl) who wins tonight has to start filming their own cooking show the next day. After that, they only have a week before it airs. Wow! That's some pressure! Nice.

At any rate, this is the season finale. The three final contestants are: Aarti Sequeira, Herb Mesa, and Tom Pizzica. And your winner is ...

An Insane Couple Dresses Up Like Superheroes on 'Wife Swap' (VIDEO)

An Insane Couple Dresses Up Like Superheroes on 'Wife Swap'"Insane" might be too mean a word to describe the Owen-Ladino family on 'Wife Swap.' So how about "insanely upbeat," instead?

Shanti (whose real former name is Patti) and her fianacée Arjuna (whose real name is Harold), like to dress up as superheroes and walk around like that in full daylight in New York City, and, that's cool, and -- well, no. ... We were right in the first place. They're just a little crazy.

The pair are of a couple of self-described "relationship" experts, who wear spandex and use their superhero identities to teach students about how to deal with the opposite sex. We might feel better about this if their costumes were cooler. But they dress kind of like Wonder Woman. Both of them dress like Wonder Woman -- the guy and the girl.
