Four Cooking Channel Shows That Look Delicious

by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 21st 2010 2:02PM
Food JammersIf you take your remote control and surf on over to Fine Living Network on May 31, well, it won't be there. Instead, you're going to see The Cooking Channel, Food Network's new channel devoted to food (of course), drinks, and travel. They've announced the lineup for the network's debut, and while some of the shows seem like something we could see on the parent network, there's enough quirky new stuff to grab your attention.

Some are using the word "edgy" to describe the new channel too, but unless they're breaking the necks of live chickens right on television, this is still just a food channel. Oh, wait, they actually are going to break chicken necks! Alrighty.

After the jump, my picks for the four shows that look the most interesting, as well as a quick rundown on what else we're going to see on the new channel.

Martha sits in with the gals on Whatever, Martha

by Allison Waldman, posted Dec 2nd 2009 10:30AM
whatever_martha_fine_livingWhen Whatever, Martha! was first conceived and I wrote about it, I was doubtful that the show would succeed in really ripping Martha. I thought they're comparing the comedy to Mystery Science Theater 3000 in the press release was setting the bar too high and they would fall on their faces. Well, guess what? They were right and I was wrong. Whatever, Martha! works and it is very funny.

Things should get really interesting on the show when the butt of the jokes -- Martha herself -- appears on Whatever, Martha! tonight, Wednesday, December 2. On Fine Living.

Martha will be on with the stars, Jennifer Koppelman Hutt and Alexis Stewart, to dish about classic clips from Martha Stewart Living.

Here's a preview of tonight's Three Sheets (yes, there is a show called Three Sheets)

by Bob Sassone, posted Jul 20th 2009 1:33PM
If you're like me, you didn't know that there was a show called Three Sheets. It's on the Fine Living Network (I bet there are some of you who didn't even realize there was a Fine Living Network), and the new season starts tonight at 10PM.

The show was formerly on MOJO, but Fine Living will be showing the never-before-seen season 4 and older episodes. Basically it features comedian Zane Lamprey, going around the world and checking out various bars and various drinks and local food. Here's a preview.

Damn it, I missed Stephen Colbert on Martha this morning!

Martha StewartI hate when this happens.

You're all set to watch something, and you don't even set your DVR or your VCR or any other recording device you might have because you've known about the show for weeks and weeks and you plan to watch this particular episode because you watch the show all the time anyway. And then the day comes and you either oversleep or you're busy doing something else or it just slips your mind for some reason and you miss it.

That's what happened to me this morning.

Five shows I've been watching (and you should check out too) - VIDEOS

by Bob Sassone, posted Nov 19th 2008 2:05PM
Whatever, MarthaI think that in the most grossly general way, TV shows can be separated into three groups: the shows that get a ton of viewers and everyone knows about (American Idol, Two and a Half Men, Lost, etc), shows that don't get quite as many viewers but are well-known anyway (30 Rock, Burn Notice, Mad Men, The Shield), and a third category of shows that are more niche. They're probably on cable or public television and may even be on at odd times. They have their fan base, but a lot of people probably don't even know they exist.

That's what this list is, the five shows that I've been enjoying lately, away from the more mainstream shows that I watch every week (The Mentalist, 30 Rock, Lost, Mad Men, Burn Notice, Chuck, Heroes, The Simpsons, 60 Minutes). They're quirky, interesting, and they're probably shows you should check out too.

Emeril Lagasse moves to Fine Living Network

by Bob Sassone, posted May 20th 2008 12:02PM

EmerilLate last year we told you how Emeril Lagasse was going to leave Food Network. Now we know where he's going.

The chef is going to move his Emeril Live show to the Fine Living Network. The show will air in the same time slot (7pm) that it currently runs in, seven nights a week. The new shows start on July 7th. Emeril is part of the Martha Stewart empire now (except for his many restaurants, which he has held on to), and repeats of Martha's daily syndicated show run on Fine Living every night as well. Both shows will air next to each other on the schedule.
