Is 'FlashForward' Heading to Starz?

by Chris Harnick, posted Jul 23rd 2010 12:20PM
'FlashForward' may have been discarded by ABC, but that hasn't stopped fans from aggressively campaigning for another network to pick up the series. It's worked before for other shows and according to TVOverMind, Starz might be the savior fans are hoping for.

A fan posted on the Save FlashForward! Facebook fanpage that they were told by a Starz's representative that the network is aggressively looking into picking up the series.

To prove their dedication to the series, 'FlashForward' fans have staged blackouts in front of ABC offices.

The series starred Joseph Fiennes (right) as an FBI agent looking into the cause of a worldwide blackout that showed citizens a glimpse into their future.

'FlashForward' - 'Future Shock' Recap (Series Finale)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 28th 2010 8:06AM
'FlashForward' - 'Future Shock'(S01E22) While it was by no means perfect, the 'FlashForward finale did a great job of setting up the potential fun of future seasons that will never be. As a series finale, it didn't really accomplish as much as I would have liked.

While last week, it was all about our various cast members putting themselves into situations that would seem to make it impossible for them to be in place for their flashforwards at 10PM PT, this week was an exploration of just how much you can alter what fate has foretold for you.

Mark found out when the next blackout would occur, which was one of the better surprises on the night. It did, however, set up one of the most implausible situations of the entire series so far. But, it also got the sci-fi fanboy in me excited about what could have been. Meanwhile, 'FlashForward' gets to go down in television history as another genre network series that didn't come close to a proper finish.

'FlashForward' - 'Countdown' Recap

by Jason Hughes, posted May 21st 2010 10:38AM
'FlashForward'(S01E21) This is the kind of episode that makes you even more disappointed that this is the end of the road for 'FlashForward.' It all comes to an end with next week's series finale.

When 'FlashForward' began, the showrunners talked about how there was a plan for the day after April 29, 2010, and that we would see what comes next. Now, I'm not so sure. For the characters, I'd imagine "FlashForward Day," as April 29 has come to be called, would feel like the longest day of their lives, as they careen toward the time of their visions: 10 PM PT.

Looks like it's going to be that way for us, too. Tonight's episode began at three in the morning on April 29, and we worked our way through the day, checking in with all the major plotlines throughout the season, but we're not at 10 PM PT yet. While fate may be moving to bring those visions to fruition, it doesn't seem like all of them will happen.

Four Reasons 'FlashForward' Was Canceled

by Jason Hughes, posted May 18th 2010 2:04AM
'FlashForward' was canceled because ABC wasn't satisfied with the ratings, obviously. But that's not the whole story. When a series premieres at 12.5 million viewers and plummets to seven million within the first ten episodes, there's something else going on. Now, it's ranking consistently below five million for its final few episodes.

The bottom line is that the creators failed to deliver on the promise of the premise. People were intrigued by the idea of 'FlashForward.' The pilot tested well and, by early buzz, it looked like ABC may have found their "replacement" for 'Lost.' But while 'Lost' got more and more complex and intense as it went along, 'FlashForward' quickly went off the rails.

The scripts were out for retooling even before the show premiered, and it was ultimately yanked from the schedule in December 2009 for a more dramatic overhaul. In the end, they never quite got it right. So what went so wrong?

'FlashForward' - 'The Negotiation' Recap

by Jason Hughes, posted May 14th 2010 8:21AM
'FlashForward' - 'The Negotiation'(S01E20) On the night when ABC announced that it would be one and done for 'FlashForward' after all, it's a little disappointing that the "dead show walking" brought out one of their most boring and lackluster episodes yet. April 29, 2010 was the day everyone flashed forward to in the pilot. Today is April 28, 2010.

Turns out, the eve of the biggest day in the history of the modern era was a bit of a bore. The episode was all preamble and set-up for events to come on April 29, but that made for a rather dull episode. Simon Campos had the most interesting night, and that's mainly because he got to score with Annabeth Gish, just before she turned him in.

'V' Renewed; 'FlashForward,' 'Scrubs,' 'Better Off Ted,' 'Romantically Challenged' Axed

by Andrew Scott, posted May 13th 2010 11:54PM
VMore news coming from the ABC upfronts: The Live Feed is reporting that the network has officially renewed the alien-invasion series 'V' for a second season. The show, which co-stars Scott Wolf and 'Lost''s Elizabeth Mitchell, among others, is expected to be picked up for 13 episodes. (For more on ABC's pick-ups, click here.)

But it wasn't all good news. According to the Ausiello Files, ABC also pulled the plug on four series, including 'Scrubs,' confirming a Facebook message that star Zach Braff posted in March. 'Scrubs' ends after 9 seasons on the air, seven of which were spent on NBC.

Also getting the boot tonight: the Alyssa Milano comedy 'Romantically Challenged,' which got off to a sluggish start after its premiere in April and never really seemed to catch on, despite airing after ratings juggernaut 'Dancing With the Stars.'

(UPDATE: According to Milano's Twitter, ABC hasn't made an official decision on 'Challenged''s fate.)

Which Bubble Show Doesn't Deserve To Be Saved?

by Bob Sassone, posted May 11th 2010 2:06PM
Cold CaseAllison has given you a really in-depth look at all of the TV shows that are "on the bubble," the ones that haven't been renewed and might be canceled. A lot of TV Squad readers have given their opinions on what shows should be renewed for another year, but how about the shows that don't deserve to come back for the 2010-2011 season?

These shows pretty much fall into two categories: shows that have already been on a while and probably shouldn't see another season, and shows that haven't been around long but don't get the audience or darn it just aren't good enough to be renewed.

'FlashForward' - 'Course Correction' Recap

by Jason Hughes, posted May 7th 2010 8:33AM
Dominic Monaghan, 'FlashForward' - 'Course Correction'(S01E19) Tonight's episode was written by Robert J. Sawyer, the author of the book 'FlashForward,' which this series is loosely based on. He's been a story consultant on each episode, but this was his first time taking the reins and steering the ship himself.

He chose a pretty important episode to do so, in that it touched on elements leading all the way back to the beginning of the series. There was a pretty extensive use of flashbacks, to make sure we were keeping things straight. They even did flashbacks of events that had just happened earlier in the episode. It worked, surprisingly enough, in keeping things moving forward.

Other than the escapades of Aaron the mercenary, we got a lot of progress in putting the pieces together. Simon's character got perhaps even more complex, and even Al Gough's valiant sacrifice came back into play. Can you cheat the destiny ahead of you, or will fate find a way of meeting you anyway. When did this turn into 'Final Destination'?

ABC Announces Its May Sweeps Highlights

by Rich Keller, posted May 3rd 2010 10:04AM

The series finale of 'Lost' is just one of the May Sweeps highlights for ABCFor the networks, the month of May means just one thing: Sweeps -- the time of year where the Big 4.5 networks pull out all the stops to end their seasons with high ratings and, hopefully, increased ad revenue.

For ABC, this is a particularly important Sweeps period. Not only are a number of renewed freshman and sophomore series ending in the next few weeks, but the network's flagship program -- 'Lost' -- is completing its long and complicated run. Needless to say, they've packed the schedule with guest-stars, trips to exotic locales, and a return of 'The Bachleorette.'

As mentioned, the series finale of 'Lost' is big doings. On Sunday, May 23rd, the network will air a two-hour 'Lost Recap Special' starting at 7:00 p.m. followed by the last episode at 9:00 p.m.. To the cap the night off, Jimmy Kimmel will interview the creators and cast of 'Lost' on a special Sunday edition of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live.'

More highlights can be found after the jump. Be warned: minor spoilers ahead.
