Are you ready for some football scandals? Well you won't be hearing the voice of Hank Williams Jr. kicking off this week's big game.

Appearing on Fox & Friends to talk politics today -- a topic he's always been very vocal about -- Williams landed himself in some hot water after seemingly comparing President Barack Obama to Hilter.

The country singer, whose voice famously asks football fans "Are you ready for some football?" each week, criticized the president's recent "golf summit" with Republican House Speaker John Boehner, saying it "would be like Hitler playing golf with Benjamin Netanyahu [the Israeli leader]."

With the fifth and final season of 'Friday Night Lights' both releasing on DVD today and premiering on NBC this weekend, maybe it's finally time to come to terms with the end of one of the best dramas to ever grace television screens.

It's one of the biggest TV weekends of the year. Outside of the big 'Say Yes to the Dress' finale, no other television events elicits more anticipation and preparation leading up to the actual show.

The hype builds for weeks and weeks. People and analysts alike are forced to stretch what should be a few minutes of discussion and analysis into a two week, soul-crushing marathon of overused cliches -- like "Give 110 percent," "We just need to play our game" and "Hey! Don't touch me there!" -- and washed up "experts" just trying to scrape together enough money to pay the minimum on their baby mama's credit card bill.

Advertisers clamor for this day like little girls (and writers of this article) do for even a glimpse of Justin Bieber's impish smile and signature hair-flip, dropping millions and millions of dollars to attempt to wow America with 30 seconds of cheeky anthropomorphic cartoon animals and a hollow, over-produced, lip-synced, celebrity half-time extravaganza that generally feels like some sort of cruel public mass-torture ploy to punish everyone.

Oh yeah... and there's a football game thrown in there somewhere too, and here are some of my predictions for the big day.

Baseball may be known as our national pastime, but there's no doubt what America's favorite sport really is: football.

Much of football's popularity can be traced to how well football translates to television, with tens of millions of people tuning in every weekend to enjoy the sport on every level from high school and college to the NFL.

So, considering how well suited football is for the small screen, it's a surprise just how few TV shows about football there have been over the decades. Sure, there are plenty of live shows with pundits and former players discussing next week's matchup or breaking down last week's game film, but we mean honest-go-goodness programming -- you know, like dramas, comedies, reality shows. Why haven't there been more about the ol' pigskin?

On January 1 we reported that former football star and actor Merlin Olsen was suing NBC Universal, NBC Studios, and 20th Century Fox for exposing him to asbestos over the years. Now comes word that Olsen has died of mesothelioma in California.

Olsen was someone who had successful careers in both sports and acting. TV drama fans will remember him from his roles in 'Little House on the Prairie' (he played Jonathan Garvey) and 'Father Murphy' (as the title character) and football fans will remember his long pro football career playing for The Los Angeles Rams. He was the 1962 Rookie of the Year and retired in 1976 after being named to the Pro Bowl fourteen times. He also had a career as a sports commentator and analyst.

Olsen had roles in other TV shows and movies as well, including 'Aaron's Way,' 'Fathers and Sons,' 'Kung Fu,' 'The Brian Keith Show,' and 'Petticoat Junction.'

So...let's talk about nipples. Remember when Justin Timberlake ripped off part of Janet Jackson's jacket and exposed her breast during the Super Bowl (oh, memories...)? A Federal appeals court has already thrown out the $550,000 fine judgment against CBS but now they want to "re-examine" the decision. Maybe they just like looking at the video of the nipple incident (or "nincident," if you will) over and over and over again.

I've never understood why CBS got fined in the first place. It was a live sports broadcast. If you want to fine Janet Jackson or Justin Timberlake or the people who made Jackson's coat, OK, go ahead. But the only way a fine against CBS is justified is if you think they knew about it ahead of time and gave the OK for it to happen. What's the basis for the fine?

Unless you've been like able to enjoy the complete fourth season of 'Friday Light Lights' that just wrapped up on DirecTV last night (click here if you don't mind spoilers), you may not get as excited news from Michael Ausiello in Entertainment Weekly that there will be a fifth season of 'Friday Night Lights' to end the run of the award-winning drama series about Texas high school football.

However, you should be ecstatic. Quality TV like 'Friday Night Lights' deserves to be given its due and given the time to complete the stories it's been telling.

So, you can count on the Dillon football teams to mature with new players, the Taylor family to deal with Julie's impending leaving for college while Eric and Tami make it work back home, the Riggins men to face upheaval and a bunch of new characters to continue to fascinate, including Becky, Vince, Jess and Luke.

(S04E13) One of the stranger things about 'Friday Night Lights' airing on DirecTV -- before this same season airs on NBC starting April 30th -- is the fact that this was the season finale and it was all set around Thanksgiving. We may be contemplating Valentine's Day on other shows and in our own lives, but in Dillon, Texas, it's a Thanksgiving turkey feast, time to hang Christmas decorations outside the house, and -- oh, yes -- the big local high school football game. The Clash of the Cats - Lions versus Panthers. More about the game, the guests, and the tough decisions to be made after the jump.

It looks like a lot of people were curious to see if the New Orleans Saints could beat the Indianapolis Colts in their first Super Bowl appearance (spoiler: they did). Or maybe they just wanted to see if Abe Vigoda was still alive or what a bunch of guys walking around in their underwear looked like. Either way, the CBS broadcast of the game got the best household numbers in 23 years, up 10% from last year's game that...well, no one really remembers who played last year.

That's pretty good considering there wasn't a nipple in this year's game.

It's not hard to see great ratings for the game most years though. TV networks usually don't air much opposite them. Last night, for example, ABC and FOX ran repeats of their comedies while NBC had repeats of 'The Biggest Loser.'

It has become a cliche to say "I watch the Super Bowl just for the ads," but I really do. I have no interest in football at all (even less this year because the Patriots aren't in it - the only reason I would have to even be a little interested in the game is if the team from my area was in it), so I really do look forward to seeing and reviewing the ads. Too bad the Super Bowl ads aren't what they used to be (except for that Letterman/Leno/Oprah ad ... wow).

This year I'm picking the seven worst ads, while Kona is handling the seven best. Two rules for my worst: no movie ads (they're in a category all by themselves and shouldn't be judged with the other ads), and I tried not to pick any commercials that aired before today.

Forget the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts, this Sunday's Super Bowl is all about puppies! Well, that's what Animal Planet wants you to believe, as their Puppy Bowl VI airs Sunday afternoon before the actual football game commences.

The starting line-up for the sixth annual event showcases a fiercely cute bunch of, you guessed it, puppies. Make sure to keep your eyes on the 10-week-old Bandit, a Border Collie Mix; and the clearly menacing, 16-week-old Fava (He just started teething!), a Cattle Dog Mix. The bunny-cheerleaders should be pretty darn cute, as well.

(S04E12) Facing the Lions, Coach Taylor said the word of the week was focus. He was wrong. The word of the week was choice. Everybody seemed to be facing impossible choices.

Bigger than right or wrong, yes or no, play or don't play. In this penultimate episode of 'Friday Night Lights,' the problems were everywhere, but solutions -- unfortunately -- were hard to come by. More on the big game, toothpicks, apologies and Habitat for Humanities after the jump.

The time slot right after the Super Bowl is usually a good place to air. And CBS is hoping that holds for its new reality show, 'Undercover Boss.'

With more than 100 million viewers set to tune in, some are too lazy, too stuffed with party food or (let's face it) too drunk to change the channel. So, they'll stick around for whatever comes on after the final whistle. This year, it's

The new pilot is a stealth reality show -- looking to combine the cheap, easy ingredients of interoffice drama, humor and shock reveals. The title is self-explanatory, but the premise takes a large company and sends its CEO in as an average employee. As that CEO mixes and mingles with his fellow employees, he gets to see what their days are like, whether they enjoy their jobs, etc.

Now that the NFL has moved the Pro Bowl to the week before the big game, the Super Bowl will be the last TV event on the football schedule for the year. During Sunday's game, truTV will hype a new show, called 'NFL Full Contact,' with an ad starring Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu, or, as he is known in the ad, Punxsutawney Polamalu.

In the ad, a mini version of Polamalu (by the magic of green screen, played by Polamalu and wrestler Steve Richardson, a.k.a. Puppet the Psycho Dwarf) gets pulled out of a tree stump and sees his shadow. Thus, six more weeks of football. Meaning, of course, six weeks of 'NFL Full Contact.'

CBS expects Sunday's Super Bowl XLIV to be the most watched television program in history. And the network is looking to make a mint on the big game after managing to sell every available ad slot for the broadcast.

The problem is a couple of those ads were sold to odd buyers when you consider that this is supposed to be a massive entertainment event. People are supposed to have fun watching the game they've waited all season to see. It's a reach to ask them to think about heavy socio-political issues.

The network estimates more than 100 million viewers will tune in this weekend when Peyton Manning (right) and the Indianapolis Colts take on Drew Brees and the upset-minded New Orleans Saints. The Saints look to be the sentimental favorite as the city struggles to rebuild from Hurricane Katrina.

Meanwhile, the Colts are playing in their second Super Bowl in the last three years -- having beaten the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI.
