Neglectful Father Asks for Forgiveness From Daughter on 'Mobbed' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 24th 2011 12:30AM
Howie Mandel, 'Mobbed'Howie Mandel returned for another installment of 'Mobbed' (Wed., 9PM ET on FOX) for the holiday. But while the last round saw him helping a reluctant groom propose to his girlfriend, this one tackled a much more somber, heavier relationship situation.

The mob was orchestrated by an estranged father who'd recently separated from his wife, leaving his teen daughter as well. He then proceeded to miss her birthday and prom, and it looks like he basically checked out of her life completely for a while.

'The X Factor' Recap: Top 7 Revealed - Who Was Double-Eliminated? (VIDEO)

by Laura Prudom, posted Nov 23rd 2011 9:15PM
X FactorWhat better way to cap off a week of giving thanks than with a double elimination?

'The X Factor'
found an excellent way to make the hour of filler pass more speedily this week, fitting in performances from Kelly Clarkson and Bruno Mars as well as two "save me" songs and two remarkably drama-free exits.

Without further adieu, the two acts eliminated this week were ...

'Glee' Covers Katy Perry's 'I Kissed a Girl'

by Crystal Bell, posted Nov 23rd 2011 2:00PM
glee I kissed a girlSo now that Santana's out of the closet she obviously needs to express her feelings in song, right? At least that's what Finn thinks. In an effort to help Santana cope with coming out -- and probably because he feels a little bad for being the one to push her out of the closet -- Finn comes up with a plan that will bring the New Directions and the Troubletones together -- in song. Finn's plan? Sing only songs written and performed by women, for women.

Naturally, Katy Perry's bi-curious anthem 'I Kissed a Girl' is a perfect choice for our favorite McKinley high Latina diva.

Accompanied by her fellow Troubletones, Mercedes, Sugar and Brittany, and the New Directions' girls Rachel, Quinn and Tina, Santana shakes and shimmies her way down the McKinley halls and into the choir room.

Of course, the boys are totally digging it, especially newbie Rory, who gets a little too excited.

'The X Factor' Recap: The Top 9 Perform Songs That Give Thanks (VIDEO)

by Laura Prudom, posted Nov 23rd 2011 12:45AM
Josh KrajcikIt seemed as though the 'X Factor' mentors had a far better grasp of this week's nebulous theme of "songs that give thanks" than they did of "rock" or "songs from movies," but were you thankful for the performances?

Paula spent two hours in a perpetual state of teary-eyed incoherence (no change there), Astro was ... vaguely repentant over last week's "incident," and were it not for Paula and Nicole, I think Simon and L.A. would've started a slap-fight over Drew's performance. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Hit the jump for our verdict on this week's especially tearful thankful installment, and weigh in on your favorite performances.

Is 'Glee' Planning a Jackson Family Tribute for Sectionals?

by Crystal Bell, posted Nov 22nd 2011 11:35AM
glee: the music, volume 7It looks like the holidays will be exceptionally gleeful for 'Glee' fans this season. 'Glee: The Music, Volume 7' is hitting the shelves -- and iTunes -- on Dec. 6. Not only will it feature some of Season 3's best, like the widely praised Adele mash-up, 'Rumour Has It/Someone Like You,' but it also includes three Jackson classics, 'ABC,' 'Control' and 'Man in the Mirror.'

Does this mean the New Directions will be singing a Jackson medley for Sectionals? All signs are point toward YES! ... but we'll have to wait and see.

Now here's the real question: Who will sing what? Hopefully, Artie can continue his Michael Jackson streak, having covered both 'Thriller' and 'P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)' for the New Directions.

Check out the full track list after the jump.

'House' Tackles the Dead and the Disturbed in Two Bizarre Cases (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 22nd 2011 3:00AM
Madison Davenport, 'House'FOX promised us a surprise twist we would not see coming on this week's 'House' (Mon., 9PM ET on FOX) and they delivered. As for Dr. House, he spent the week splitting his time between diagnosing a dead patient and a living one. The living one was not only much more savable, her case was also far more intriguing -- never mind the dead one had him risking parole.

Madison Davenport, perhaps most recognized by TV fans for a recurring role on HBO's 'Shameless,' does a fantastic job of playing the sullen and grouchy teenager Iris here. But there's more to her condition than typical teen angst and rebelliousness.

Shannon Learns Taylor's Secret and Intentions For 'Terra Nova' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 22nd 2011 2:00AM
'Terra Nova' - 'Vs.''Terra Nova' (Mon., 8PM ET on FOX) put its focus firmly on the larger story behind the series and it made for a very compelling hour of television. It's a shame the show lost so much of its audience during its very boring first month or so as it seems to be getting on track and suddenly I find myself rooting for a second season.

The idea of a portal back to the future is rich enough, but the notion that it could be a battle for the precious natural resources of Terra Nova makes it a story with a very current struggle at its heart. The best science fiction stories speak to us about the current condition, and Terra Nova is finally starting to show glimmers of that.

Astro Apologizes for Controversial 'X Factor' Attitude

by Laura Prudom, posted Nov 21st 2011 9:40AM
Astro - The X FactorPrecocious teen rapper Brian "Astro" Bradley has been making waves in the 'X Factor' pond ever since he first appeared on our screens, partly because audiences seemed dubious that a hip-hop artist could be judged alongside traditional singers, and partly because of his brusque attitude on stage.

Last week, Astro hit headlines for almost refusing to sing a "save me" song when he was placed in the bottom two, insisting, "I don't want to perform for people who don't want me here." Simon Cowell was not amused by the sulking, chiding the 15-year-old for disrespecting his mother and the audience with his behavior. (Later, both Cowell and Paula Abdul pointed out that the experience had probably taught the teen a valuable lesson.)

Now, Astro has chosen to address the embarrassing on-stage incident himself, admitting, "I'm 15 and I think I know everything, but the truth is, I don't, and I handled the situation wrong!"

Joe and Bonnie are Reunited With Their Son on 'Family Guy' (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Nov 21st 2011 9:20AM
'Family Guy'Thanksgiving on 'Family Guy' (Sun., 9PM ET on Fox) brought a happy family reunion for Joe and Bonnie Swanson. They'd been mourning the death of their soldier son Kevin, but he turned out to be alive.

Kevin tells his happy parents that he'd been in a coma ever since his quarters blew up, but a suspicious Joe keeps finding holes in his story and pushes Kevin to admit the whole truth. "I never was in any coma. I bailed. I faked my death and went AWOL." That's when the police officer in Joe takes over: He slaps the cuffs on Kevin and prepares to take him in. Can Bonnie stop him?

Neil Gaiman Wants in on the Teen Book Job on 'The Simpsons' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 21st 2011 6:45AM
Neil Gaiman, 'The Simpsons' - 'The Book Job'It almost feels weird to say this, but in a very clever and entertaining episode of 'The Simpsons' (Sun., 8PM ET on FOX), Homer develops a plan to make a fortune by churning out a tween novel by committee. Popular fantasy author Neil Gaiman played himself, as an existing author wanting in on the scheme.

The entire episode was framed as a heist, with Homer assembling his team, writing the novel and getting it published. The head of the publishing house was in place as the evil villain, while Gaiman proved to be the cleverest of them all, duping everyone by getting the book ultimately published under his own name.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Is Stan's Avatar Girlfriend for Steve on 'American Dad' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 21st 2011 5:00AM
'American Dad' - 'Virtual In-Stanity'Stan Smith has come up with a lot of stupid ideas over the years on 'American Dad' (Sun., 9:30PM ET on FOX), but this may well be the stupidest. In a nod so deliberate to 'Avatar' they came right out and admitted it, Stan decided to try and spend more time with his son Steve by becoming a teenage girl.

This was after he realized he'd missed every major moment of Steve's life so far and Francine told him that as a teenager, hot girls were all Steve was interested in. So Stan became an avatar, voiced by Sarah Michelle Gellar, in order to hang out with Steve.

'Bones' Cast To Earn Big Pay Rise For Potential Eighth Season

by Laura Prudom, posted Nov 18th 2011 12:35PM
Bones castForget digging for 'Bones,' (Thurs., 9PM ET) the cast of the long-running Fox procedural has just hit buried treasure.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, supporting cast-members Michaela Conlin, T.J. Thyne, Tamara Taylor and John Francis Daley have secured new deals that will see their salaries raised to the mid-five figures per episode, in exchange for an extra season on their contracts. The negotiations were particularly pressing for Conlin and Thyne, whose contracts were set to run out at the end of this season.

Now, if the show is picked up for an eighth season -- which seems likely, given this news -- fans can rest assured that all of the regular cast will return.

'The X Factor' Recap: Top 9 Revealed - Who Was Eliminated? (VIDEO)

by Laura Prudom, posted Nov 17th 2011 9:10PM
X Factor JudgesAmerica and 'The X Factor' completely defied my expectations on Thursday night. When Steve Jones announced that the first two acts safe this week were the aggressively mediocre Lakoda Rayne and LeRoy Bell, it became apparent that there would be no predicting this week's results.

Still, with so many fan-favorite acts apparently in danger of elimination, the episode provided far more tension than I was anticipating this early in the game, when it seemed that all of the groups would be wiped out before the solo artists would have their turn on the chopping block.

The third act to be eliminated by America and the judges was:

'The X Factor' Recap: The Top 10 Perform 'Rock' Songs (VIDEO)

by Laura Prudom, posted Nov 17th 2011 12:45AM
Josh Krajcik I love rock'n'roll -- but it was in seriously short supply during this week's 'X Factor.' Host Steve Jones opened the show with the ominous qualifier that the week's theme was "rock songs, or songs sung in a rock style" which was the first clue that trouble was afoot.

We heard reggae, rap, blues and ballads, but very little in the way of actual guitar-smashing, amp-blasting rock; the only one who really fulfilled the assignment was resident rocker Josh Krajcik -- go figure. Still, I'm pretty sure that Stacy Francis hit rock bottom with a screechy, tone-deaf rendition of Meat Loaf's (via Celine Dion) 'It's All Coming Back to Me Now,' and my eardrums may never recover.

Hit the jump for our full recap of the show, thankfully without the musical accompaniment.

Justin Long Is the Male Jess on Thanksgiving Episode of 'New Girl' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 16th 2011 2:00AM
Justin Long, 'New Girl' - 'Thanksgiving'It was a Thanksgiving celebration on 'New Girl' (Tue., 9PM ET on FOX), which means all the traditions like turkeys in the dryer and dead old ladies on the toilet. Wait, that doesn't seem right.

But it was funny, as the gang found themselves relocating to a neighbor's apartment when their dryer turkey experiment led to a fire in their apartment. Never mind that the lady of the house was dead, it gave us time to get to know Jess' bizarre male counterpart Paul, played by Justin Long.

So was it weird seeing someone just as goofy as Jess driving the guys crazy, or do we like the idea of her finding someone like herself she can enjoy? Of course, if they're too much alike, doesn't that mean he'll soon be driving her crazy? Future episodes perhaps ...
