Arrested Development: Mr. F - VIDEO

Do not adjust your web browser. You are now entering the Retro Squad, where we are reviewing past episodes of classic TV shows.
(S03E05) To borrow a phrase from Saved!, "Mr. F" is the episode that confirmed fans' suspicions about Rita's "differently-abledness." George Michael celebrated a birthday, Maeby continued her double life as a studio executive, and Tobias got the wrong idea yet again.
TV Squad Daily with Brigitte - VIDEO
Today on TV Squad Daily:
- Chris Sligh was so like-able until he got eliminated this week on American Idol.
- One is staying and one is going. But what's really the difference between Miss USA and Miss America?
- Frankie Muniz is desperate to be known for something other than "Malcolm in the Middle," but I'm not sure if a Mohawk makes me believe him as a race car driver.
Malcolm in the Middle: an appreciation
I haven't watched Malcolm in the Middle much the past few years. There's always something else on at the same time, but the one or two episodes I saw were pretty damn funny. Matthew Gilbert over at The Boston Globe has an appreciation of the series, which airs its series finale tonight. It's sorta spoilerish, so click at your own risk.Did you know that the last name of Malcolm's family is ... Wilkerson?!? Me either. I guess they've only said it once in the whole run of the series.
I want to rob Mick Jagger
Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger may be
playing a key role in a new comedy for ABC about a group of guys in New York who decide to rob a celebrity. That
celebrity may be Mick Jagger, if negotiations pan out.Originally, the title of the sitcom was I Want to Rob Jeff Goldblum, but Jeff is working on his own pilot project for NBC and was never attached to the project (although, I totally like the idea of him in that role). The creators turned to Mick Jagger, but his name won't be in the title and he will only appear in a few scenes.
I totally dig this idea for a show. I think they could keep it going by picking different celebrities to rob. I'd like to see them try to rob Patrick Swayze, Carol Channing, and Frankie Muniz. Who would you like to see robbed?
Muniz to drive racecars? Really?
I don't know about this one. Both Hollywood.com and the New York Post have the same WENN story about
Malcolm in the Middle star Frankie Muniz making plans to join the professional auto racing circuit after
Malcolm in the Middle ends its run next month.
Here's the quote from Muniz himself: "I got signed to race for Jensen Motor Sports for the next two years ... I'm now a professional race car driver. I'm racing Indy cars, like Formula One cars and racing on road courses."
Most of me thinks this is either remnants of an April Fools' Day gag, or it was just Muniz being sarcastic. It's not like the kid isn't getting acting work, having recently appeared in the movie Stay Alive. Do any of you guys know anything about Muniz's alleged racing plans?
Wait, hold everything. Just as I was about to post I discovered this article from almost one year ago about a celebrity auto race in which Muniz took part. Muniz said, "Racing is all I've ever wanted to do. It's something I would like to get into on a more serious note." Perhaps the story is legit after all.
FOX cancels That 70s Show, Malcolm
And before you say it, yes, both of these shows are still on the air.
FOX announced today that both shows will end their runs in May. The final episode of 70s will be the show's 200th, while Malcolm in the Middle will reach 150 episodes when it ends.
I never really watched That 70s Show, only catching an episode here and there, but Malcolm has been consistently funny over the years.
Malcolm returning to Sundays
At one point last year, I remember being surprised to hear that Malcolm in the Middle
was still on television. I watched it when it first launched on FOX on Sunday nights and I loved it. But, then it
disappeared to Friday nights and, quite frankly, I forgot all about it. Well, it turns out the show is still on the air
and it's actually in the middle of its fifth season! Since FOX moved Malcolm to Fridays, its numbers have
dwindled down to about 3.5 million viewers, giving it the unfortunate title of being the least-watched show on FOX.
Malcolm arrives in its new time slot starting on January 29 at 7 pm EST. Let's hope the Sunday night slot will
give Malcolm new life! I know I'll be watching.Teen 'Malcolm' star buys Simpson-Lachey pad
When you're 19 years old and you can afford to blow $3.75 million on a house - the house
Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey lived in, and where the gloriousness that was The Newlyweds was filmed - life
must feel pretty sweet. Justin Berfield, who plays the bullying
middle son on Malcolm in the Middle, bought the Simpson-Lachey house for an undisclosed sum. The house was
listed for $3.75 million.
I remember seeing Frankie Muniz, who plays Malcolm, on The Tonight Show several years ago, when he was 15 - he was talking to Jay Leno about his car collection, and Leno (along with me and all the other hard-working schmucks out there) was marveling that this kid who couldn't even drive yet was collecting these very spendy cars. Now another Malcolm kid buys a mansion. Geez, I guess I should've pursued that whole "land a part in a popular sitcom" path when I was a kid.
