James Van Der Memes: Watch the Beek Make Faces (VIDEO)

by Ryan McKee, posted Jan 4th 2011 4:30PM
Today's tweens probably don't know James Van Der Beek the same way previous generations do, as the lovably precocious Dawson from the teen drama 'Dawson's Creek.'

They only know Van Der Beek's face from the ever-popular three-second animated GIF of Dawson crying when Joey (Katie Holmes) dumps him. Kids just love to post that on their blogs when they're sad, ironically sad or sarcastically sad. Van Der Beek's face just conveys so many emotional levels.

Rather than turn a blind eye to the popular GIF, Van Der Beek has decided to embrace it. He's teamed with Funny Or Die to bring the public 'Vandermemes.'

Sarah Silverman's Thanksgiving Special (VIDEO)

by Ryan McKee, posted Nov 22nd 2010 6:45PM
Sadly, 'The Sarah Silverman Program' is no long with us. That does not mean Silverman will stop delighting, shocking and occasionally disgusting us with her endearingly foul wit. Her latest holiday video on Funny Or Die is a perfect example of just that.

The stand-up comic/actress/writer recalls a Thanksgiving when she was six years old and her well-intentioned father took her to their neighbor's farm to choose a turkey. (A similar version of the story appears in her recent book 'The Bedwetter.') As adults, it's easy to predict the future of whichever turkey young Sarah chose. However, to a child that outcome was not immediately apparent.

'Hannah Mantegna' With Joe Mantegna (VIDEO)

by Ryan McKee, posted Oct 25th 2010 6:00PM
Hannah MantegnaSince 'Hannah Montana Forever' is Miley Cyrus's fourth and final season with the show that made her famous, Funny Or Die is proposing a new show to fill the Disney Channel's void.

'Hannah Mantegna' runs on the same basic premise as the original except for one large detail. Instead of changing into a pop superstar, this everyday girl turns into critically-acclaimed actor Joe Mantegna. The hilarious spoof finally answers the question, "What if a this 'Criminal Minds' tough-guy were actually a tween girl?"

Rowdy Roddy Piper Punches Child Obesity In The Face (VIDEO)

by Ryan McKee, posted Sep 27th 2010 2:00PM
It warms the heart to see "Rowdy" Roddy Piper still working. Even though he was always the heel or bad guy during his WWF days, his charisma made it tough for '80s young wrestling fans not to root him. Twenty years later, Gen-Xers still love catching his guest appearances on 'WWE Monday Night RAW' and 'Jimmy Kimmel Live.'

Piper has battled back from obscurity, battled back from Hodgkin's lymphoma and now he's battling a foe tougher than Hulk Hogan and Mr. T combined - childhood obesity.

Adam West Sells Paintings With Eyes That Move (VIDEO)

by Ryan McKee, posted Sep 25th 2010 11:00AM
What always told you there would be trouble when Scooby Doo and pals entered a creepy mansion? Well, the creepy part should have tipped you off, but the paintings' moving eyes always confirmed it.

Funny or Die has taken this concept and run with it. Security is such an issue with everyone, why not use eyehole painting as a way to ensure the safely of your home? They've enlisted the help of TV's 'Batman' Adam West to be the pitchman of Eyehole Paintings security systems.

Bret Easton Ellis Presents 'All That Glitters' On The CW (VIDEO)

by Ryan McKee, posted Sep 23rd 2010 1:30PM
Apologies if you're an 'American Psycho' fan and sprained your neck doing a double-take at the title. We did the same thing when we saw Bret Easton Ellis's name on Funny Or Die. The elite writer who chronicles the upper-crust's dark side also has a silly side? Well, it turns out he can nail silly.

Ellis's popular novels are about vapid rich people doing horrible things: drugs, meaningless sex, serial murders, etc. While many of the stories have elements of humor, it is the kind of black comedy that is so realistic the audience almost forgets it's satire.

But not many of the adaptations of Ellis's works are very good. That's why this Funny Or Die spoof rings so true -- you can see the CW putting 'All That Glitters' in their line-up alongside 'Gossip Girl' and '90210.' However, unless Ellis falls on really hard times, it's doubtful you'll ever see him produce a TV series for any network beside HBO or Showtime. Watch the video, after the jump ...

Betty White Spreads Rumors About Her and Ryan Reynolds on 'The Tonight Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 23rd 2010 4:20AM
'The Tonight Show'By now, everybody knows that Betty White is quite the little rascal. So it's no wonder that she was ready to start spreading rumors about her and Ryan Reynolds on 'The Tonight Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM on NBC). A rather intentional slip of the tongue and the gossip rags would be all over it with headlines like 'Octogenarian Cougar Betty White's Sordid Affair With Ryan Reynolds. Wife Scarlett Johansson Enraged, But Not Surprised.'

The pair were together across from Leno when the host asked if White had any dirt on Reynolds, to which she knowingly replied, "No, I've never had him. I mean, had any dirt on him."

Reynolds called her on it. "Always starting rumors," he said.

"Oh well sure," she responded. "Why not?"

Clickable: On the Set of The 'Seinfeld' Reunion - Kind Of (VIDEO)

by Ryan McKee, posted Sep 14th 2010 6:40PM
Larry David found a clever way to skirt the demand for a 'Seinfeld' reunion by having the cast on season 7 of 'Curb Your Enthusiasm.' And now 'Seinfeld XXX' seems to be going back to the same well for their own version of a reunion.

Pornographic parodies of popular movies have been a longtime staple for the industry. In the last few years, they've opened it up to television shows as well. You can find XXX versions of dozens of sitcoms: '30 Rock,' 'Friends,' 'Scrubs' and of course 'Seinfeld.'

Impressively, they often get the look and tone of the show correct. Not that we've watched them, of course ... there are nudity-free trailers of them across YouTube.

Sarah Silverman Grills 'Lost' Producers on Funny or Die

by Gabrielle Dunn, posted May 20th 2010 5:30PM
Sarah SilvermanComedienne Sarah Silverman got to sit down with producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof, the creative minds behind 'Lost,' as part of her new (fake) show 'Sizzle Alert' on Funny or Die (R.I.P. 'The Sarah Silverman Program'!).

The duo, dubbed "Darlton" by fans, got a few tours of the 'Sizzle Alert' offices, saw what Silverman considers her "tunnel of light" (oh, yes) and defended 'Lost' as a religion for "dolts and queers."

Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. Have a Heart to Heart

by Danny Gallagher, posted Mar 15th 2010 9:02PM
I've always wondered what it would be like to watch George Bush Sr. and George Bush Jr. have a sit-down. It must the most awkward fly-on-the-wall conversation since King Richard III told Henry Stafford he was going to have to make some "cutbacks."

Now thanks to the people at Funny or Die, now I know. And knowing is half the battle.

The site released some cutting room floor footage from their recent "Presidential Reunion" PSA directed by Ron Howard featuring some funny, improvised dialogue between Dana Carvey and Will Ferrell as the presidential father and son.

'SNL's' Presidential Reunion Video Hits Funny or Die

by Danny Gallagher, posted Mar 4th 2010 8:45PM
Nearly 30 years of one of American television's most storied and beloved traditions (i.e. portraying our presidents as moronic simpletons whose inability to tie their own shoes could send the country to Defcon 3) came to a glorious fountain of awesomeness at Funnyordie.com.

The website premiered a new public service announcement on federal finance laws directed by Ron Howard in the form of a very funny "Presidential Reunion" sketch that features the likes of Will Ferrell, Darrell Hammond, Dana Carvey, Dan Aykroyd and even Chevy Chase reviving their classic impressions of former presidents including (respectively) George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George Bush Sr., Jimmy Carter and (the most hilarious in my opinion) Gerald Ford who come together to help the beleaguered Barack Obama, played by Fred Armisen. Jim Carrey also stepped in the room to play Ronald Reagan probably because Randy Quaid is nuttier than a Payday bar these days.

This 'Reading Rainbow' Parody is Hilarious, But You Don't Have to Take My Word For It

by Danny Gallagher, posted Feb 25th 2010 10:02PM
If your child is reading so much that they aren't able to do the most basic activities like eating or dressing themselves and other girls are starting to see them as too smart for their own good, try ruining their natural curiosity of reading.

You can start by getting them to watch one of these latest recommendations from the new 'Reading Rainbow' recommended reading series. WARNING: TV Squad will not be held responsible for the emotional harm caused by this series. Besides, it's really Funny or Die's fault for posting them, so sue them.

Perez Hilton Lobbies For Simon Cowell's Job on 'Idol'

by Bob Sassone, posted Feb 24th 2010 11:32AM
Even though this video was done for Funny or Die, I have no doubt that Perez Hilton really would like to replace Simon Cowell on 'American Idol.' I don't think that's going to happen, but if it does, that's the moment that 'Idol' becomes unwatchable. Hilton is a cancer on the American pop culture landscape. Is this what passes for humor now?

'Funny or Die' Delves Into Drunk History (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 22nd 2010 7:47AM
Funny or Die, Drunk History, Will Ferrell, Don CheadleWe knew the 'Funny or Die Presents' (Sat., 12AM ET on HBO) guys would come up with a great way to teach kids about slavery. Have someone ingest two bottles of wine, then narrate the story in a drunken stupor, with Will Ferrell playing Abraham Lincoln and Don Cheadle as Frederick Douglas.

We're quite certain the video will end up in classrooms all across the country, and just think of the spin-off possibilities. Everything from the Wright Brothers to World War II could become a part of the Drunk History archives. Just think about it. That's all we ask.

Watch the video after the jump.
