11 Great '[TV Show] in 60 Seconds' Videos
by Ryan McKee, posted Jan 29th 2011 2:00PM
Watching Landline TV's 'Dexter' in 60 Seconds' video reminded us how much we enjoy the 'In 60 Seconds' format. The phenomenon really took off on YouTube with a number of movie plots edited down to one minute. Full television series aren't as simple to cut down with so many characters and story arcs each season. However, there are some excellent ones out there and we unearthed 11 of the best.
The tone of the videos vary greatly -- some are meant to be informative, others humorous. They are created from actual clips, or re-enactments, or animation, or even feline theatre. A few focus on a specific character, or season, and some portray the show's broader themes. You'll enjoy all of them, and leave a little more educated.
Bethenny Frankel does killer impressions (and not just of Jill Zarin)
by Eliot Glazer, posted Apr 17th 2009 9:05AM
The ladies of The Real Housewives of New York City are, needless to say, a colorful bunch. The Bravo franchise seems to have hit its stride, with each cast of Housewives providing their own flavor. But in comparison to Orange County and Atlanta, the ladies of New York seem especially weird. Perhaps it's apropos to their all living in a city with crazy people at every corner, but whatever the case may be, these gals are bonkers. Sure, the show may just be a well-delivered product of sneaky producers and menacing editors, but somebody's doing something right in bringing out the bizarre nuances of Jill, LuAnn, Alex, Ramona, and Bethenny - although she, of the whipsmart one-liners and catchphrases, seems to be the crowd favorite (judging by ... conversations I've had with people).
Bad submissions to America's Funniest Home Videos
by Bob Sassone, posted Nov 15th 2006 5:45PM
Clever piece over at McSweeneys.net, describing some of the supposed videos submitted to ABC's America's Funniest Home Videos that were rejected for one reason or another. One of my favorites:
AFV712940: Fifteen minutes of still footage of washing machine. Strongest theory to date is that a man inside the washing machine is waiting to emerge in order to surprise girlfriend with marriage proposal.
By the way, is anyone else amazed that America's Funniest Videos is still on the air?
