Gabourey Sidibe Hits on Brian Williams (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 28th 2011 3:15PM
Gabourey Sidibe's propensity for hitting on older men ran into Brian Williams' awkward mojo Friday on 'Today' (weekdays, syndicated on NBC). As the gang was talking about the scene in 'Tower Heist' where Sidibe flirts with Eddie Murphy, and Al Roker brought up the fact that Sidibe was standing next to one of her real-life crushes, Williams.

"I'm so embarrassed by this," Sidibe said. But Williams stepped in to save her, saying, "We've done a few charity events together, we've had our moments in the past, we've admitted this publicly." After they kissed on the cheek, Roker ended the segment with an apt sign-off. "Can't wait to see 'Rock Center,'" he said, in his best Quagmire from 'Family Guy' voice. Neither can we, Al.

'The Big C' - 'Boo!'While Paul was getting let go and Kathy was struggling to start her first day at the new clinical trial on 'The Big C' (Mon., 10:30PM ET on Showtime), Sean was having a struggle of his own back at home. Even though his medications have helped tremendously with his bipolar tendencies, he'd begun to hear noises in the house.

He simply thought he was going crazy, until Andrea (Gabourey Sidibe) stopped by and freaked him out even more about it.

When Sean shared that he felt like he was hearing ghosts, Andrea jumped at his supernatural speculation, exclaiming, "I believe in this s***." The former owner, Marlene, had recently committed suicide there.

There is a Gabourey Sidibe account out there, but she insists it's not her. "It has to be a guy, because all this Gabourey Sidibe does is eat, watch football and masturbate," she said. "It's so not me, because I don't watch football."

She did, however, decide to call one of her Facebook fans on a whim. According to Sidibe, "He was like, 'Call me, sexy.' And I was like, 'All right.'"

Laura Linney and Living With 'The Big C' - TCA Report

by Joel Keller, posted Jul 29th 2010 7:42PM
Laura Linney and Oliver Platt on the TCA panel for 'The Big C' on Showtime
Oh, Laura Linney... how I admire your career choices. It doesn't seem to matter if whatever project she chooses to put herself in is a hit or not; they all seem to have that high-quality feel. Maybe she just picks projects with good writing and directing. But a lot of that likely has to do with Linney's glowing presence. She just brings an aura of calm assuredness to whatever role she plays.

In her new series 'The Big C,' which premieres on Showtime on August 16 at 10:30PM ET, Linney plays Cathy Jamison, an uptight teacher who finds out she has stage 4 melanoma and decides to act out in any number of ways, including setting her couch on fire.

The show is about exploring how people live their lives, whether they know they're dying or not. "What hit me the most was the theme of time and what do you do with time, what are the choices that we make, how we spend our time, the fact that we all have a limited amount and that it's a privilege to grow old," she told the gathered reporters this morning.

On Tuesday's edition of 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), Elisabeth Hasselbeck criticized ESPN reporter Erin Andrews for dressing provocatively on 'Dancing With the Stars.'

Andrews was recently the victim of a peeping tom in a hotel room and Hasselbeck wondered why she was wearing next to nothing for the past three weeks on 'DWTS' "in light of what happened." Joy Behar didn't agree. "Is she wearing less than you are today?" she asked.

'Saturday Night Live' - 'Gabourey Sidibe/MGMT' Recap

by Annie Wu, posted Apr 25th 2010 3:00PM
(S35E20) Like most of the public, I only knew Gabourey Sidibe from 'Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire' (Okay, seriously, if we're gonna do that, can we put it on the end of every movie adaptation of a novel? 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, based on the novel 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban' by JK Rowling). It was one of those movies that I wasn't sure if I wanted to even watch because just looking at Sidibe in the trailers made me uncomfortable.

Robin Quivers Defends Gabourey Sidibe Comments Made on 'Howard Stern' (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Apr 23rd 2010 3:30PM
Howard Stern's sidekick Robin Quivers appeared on 'The Wendy Williams Show' (weekdays, syndicated) and defended comments she and Stern made that 'Precious' actress Gabourey Sidibe would have a difficult time succeeding in Hollywood due to her weight.

"The young lady has a major problem with weight. An actor's body is a part of their instrument. You have to be able to fit yourself into a role. She happened to be perfect for 'Precious,' but how many roles are there like that in Hollywood? That's the first thing. The second thing is everybody can see she has a major problem, and nobody wants to address it," Quivers said.

Five Great 'SNL' Hosts That Will Never Happen

by Danny Gallagher, posted Apr 6th 2010 6:29PM
'SNL' logoA host can make or break an entire episode of 'Saturday Night Live.' In fact, the mere presence of some celebrities like Chevy Chase, Milton Berle and Frank Zappa have turned their slice of Saturday late night into the lowest moments of "Must-Miss TV."

However, things are looking good this season. A preliminary list of hosts includes Oscar nominated actress Gabourey Sidibe, former 'SNL'er and '30 Rock' star Tina Fey and 'Golden Girl' actress and new found Internet champion Betty White.

However, some pop culture icons, nay legends, will never get to prove their celebrity power by hosting this comedy powerhouse simply because they never got an invitation, the show wasn't around in their time or they physically couldn't go to the studio. These hosts would have made for the best shows if the laws of time and space went on a week-long coffee break.

'Saturday Night Live' Doesn't Think Gabourey Sidibe Is Too Fat

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 1st 2010 8:02PM
Gabourey SidibeIt's interesting that in E! Online's announcement about 'Precious' star Gabourey Sidibe being asked to host an upcoming episode of 'Saturday Night Live,' their writer referenced a couple of disrespectful quotes Howard Stern had made about Sidibe in early March. Stern makes a living by saying things that push the envelope of good taste, but these words seem to have resonated a bit more than usual.

"There's the most enormous, fat black chick I've ever seen," he said. "She is enormous. Everyone's pretending she's a part of show business and she's never going to be in another movie." He even took on Oprah Winfrey, who's certainly no stranger to weight struggles or lasting success. "Oprah's another liar, a filthy liar. She's telling an enormous woman the size of a planet that she's going to have a career."

'C' Laura Linney At Her Best: Showtime's 'The Big C' (New Trailer!)

Showtime is known for its programs with strong leading ladies -- just look at 'United States of Tara' and 'Nurse Jackie' -- so Emmy-winner Linney should feel right at home with this new comedy about a suburban housewife whose life is turned upside by a cancer diagnosis.
