Hoda and Giada Are Not Fans of the 'Miranda-rita' on 'Today' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Aug 29th 2011 4:30PM
Hoda Kotb and Giada de Laurentiis don't like Miranda Lambert's History was made on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC) when Hoda Kotb found a cocktail she didn't enjoy. It came courtesy of Miranda Lambert and the Pistol Annies, who were featured in a pre-taped segment singing while they were making mixed drinks. Back in the studio, Kotb and guest host Giada de Laurentiis tried out the pink drink Lambert had made, called the "Miranda-rita."

"It's got Crystal Light in it," Kotb explained. "And some, uh ... booze." Kotb and de Laurentiis grimaced after tasting the drink. "I don't like it," de Laurentiis said. "Sorry, Miranda." Kotb thought it had too much Crystal Light in it. "If it had less it would be more delicious," she said.

Penny Gets a Scolding But Stays in the Competition on 'Food Network Star' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 11th 2011 6:30PM
'The Next Food Network Star'Penny blew up at her competitor Mary Beth on 'Food Network Star' (Sundays, 9PM on Food Network) Sunday night, and the judges took note. She was scolded in front of the rest of the contestants, but luckily for her, she makes a mean filet mignon kebab and Greek salad wrap, which eventually saved her.

"You know, Penny, if we had to pick one person who has the most animosity towards them, it has to be you," said judge Bobby Flay. Fellow judge Giada De Laurentiis was similarly umimpressed with Penny's attitude, but loved her food. "We are a Food Network family -- you have to get along with people behind the scenes," she said. She also said her wrap was "the best on the truck."

"You know what? It's more fun the way Jade eats," said Gifford.

Eva Longoria on 'The Next Food Network Star' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Aug 2nd 2010 2:40AM
Eva Longoria on 'The Next Food Network Star'This next show brings into question what level of celebrity is actually worthy of being called a "celebrity." On 'The Next Food Network Star' (Sun., 9PM ET on Food Network), contestant Brad is terrified about serving food to Eva Longoria. ... Oh, Brad. We have to ask, why?

[Spoiler alert.]

Yes, Eva is currently on a TV series, and yes, she's a judge. And yeah -- she's currently married to an NBA star who hasn't won anything in a while. But we have to ask -- is this such a big deal? Brad seems to panic, and that doesn't really to help his case, cooking-wise. OMG! IT'S EVA LONGORIA! And he cares ... why?

In the end, Brad's excessive concern doesn't work out. He gets kicked off the cooking show. Dude; Brad. Just maybe relax a little next time around.

Finally, some good eats for Cablevision customers.

According to a press release, the cable company has reached a deal with Scripps Network Interactive to allow its Food Network and HGTV programming to return to its subscribers, starting today.

This effectively ends the nearly month-long stand-off over contract disputes between Cablevision, which provides service to more than 3 million households in the tri-state New York area, and Scripps Network Interactive, which owns Food Network and HGTV.

Food Network Magazine launches this week (I'm a geek!)

by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 14th 2008 5:20PM
Food Network magAs I mentioned earlier today, I'm a fan of Food Network. When there doesn't seem to be anything on the major networks or I don't want to bother to pull out a DVD, the first cable network I'll channel-surf to is Food Network (then TCM). The shows manage to be entertaining even if you don't use the information in them, but I'm getting a lot of my recipes these days from the network and their web site.

Now they've launched a magazine to go along with the channel.

Six do-it-yourself TV hotties

by Kristin Sample, posted Nov 27th 2007 8:01AM
Constance Ramos from HGTVAOL TV releases their next ten Sexiest Women of TV this week. I figured I would add some more of my own television hotties to the list. For my list, I decided to pay homage to some of the beautiful hosts of Do-It-Yourself television (networks like Food Network, Fine Living, and The Discovery Channel).

You may think that this list is way too obscure. But these men and women and totally hot and they teach us how to do stuff like make roasted asparagus or build rocking chairs or pick a color scheme for our homes. I think they deserve some attention.

Feel free to add your own favorite Do-It-Yourself Hottie in the comments. (By the way, my picks are in no particular order. I just couldn't choose who I liked the best.)

Ray vs. De Laurentiis on Iron Chef America

by Julia Ward, posted Nov 3rd 2006 10:25AM
Rachel RayTwo chefs enter. Only one will be left standing. The reigning queens of food porn Rachael Ray and Giada De Laurentiis will go head-to-head on the November 12th edition of Iron Chef America.

Rather than have to handicap Ray's game, the Chairman will be pairing up both ladies with one of the Iron Chefs. De Laurentiis with Bobby Flay. Ray with Mario Batali.

Alright, the Chairman is actually doing all the fancy pairing because the Food Network told him to, but Ray would get trounced otherwise. Nothing against Miss 30-Minute Meals, but De Laurentiis has some serious skills care of Paris' Le Cordon Bleu and Wolfgang Puck.

Here's hoping the secret ingredient is the tears of failed homemakers.
