Chelsea Lately renewed through 2009
by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 27th 2008 5:12PM
Chelsea Lately is the late night talk show that never gets any attention. That's probably because it's on E! and that's probably a network that TV viewers don't think about when they think of late night television, but let's be honest, it's a lot better than Last Call with Carson Daly (plus it's on a lot earlier). And Chelsea Handler is a genuinely funny person. Her book of comic essays Are You There, Vodka? It's Me Chelsea is quite good, though I haven't read her first book about all of the one night stands she has had. Sounds funny though. She was also on Girls Behaving Badly, but we can forgive her for that.E! has been impressed with the ratings for Handler's show and they've given it a green light through 2009.

Well, OK, I'm a day behind with this. I blame Christmas and lots of food and booze. Looks like it's not a big week for DVD releases anyway:
- Airwolf - Season 2
- Davey and Goliath: The Lost Episodes
- Girls Behaving Badly - Vol. 1
- New Adventures of He-Man - Vol. 1
- Simple Life 4
- Tourgasm
My new favorite: The Chelsea Handler Show
by Anna Johns, posted Apr 26th 2006 1:31PM
My new favorite program is The Chelsea Handler Show on E! I laughed myself silly
last weekend when I watched her series premiere. Handler's show is a combination of her stand-up and comedy sketches.
She did a sketch with celebrity impersonators that spoofed Jon Favreau's Dinner for Five on IFC. She asked the
Tom Cruise impersonator how long it takes alien babies to hatch and wondered whether "that closet you're in locks
from the inside". She also did a hilarious interview with a couple that had a one night stand, and you can see it
here on YouTube (the quality of
the video isn't great). There's also
video of her stand-up routine at The Hollywood Improv in LA, but warning: it's not clean. Her comedy is
self-deprecating, but also takes some shots at all sorts of minority groups. It's gutsy comedy that ends up being
really funny, yet slightly uncomfortable. The best kind!TV Squad Hot Topics
