by Crystal Bell, posted Dec 9th 2011 4:30PM
glee extraordinary christmasGleeks, Christmas has come a little early this year. It's hard to be critical of a 'Glee' Christmas episode, especially when everyone always looks so cheerful.

It's time to put up the tree, wrap the gifts, and dance around with some garland. Now that the Troubletones are no more, the entire glee club is back together this holiday season to help deck the halls at McKinley. Not only will New Directions get a chance to be featured in a holiday special, but they'll also be joined by a very special guest -- Chewbacca!

"[Chewbacca] makes an appearance into Artie's dream in a way," Shum told AOL TV. "I can't really delve into the details, but it's something to do with Artie."

by Chris Harnick, posted Dec 8th 2011 6:30PM
Ed Asner Hawaii Five-0Ed Asner will reprise the 'Hawaii Five-0' role he first played more than 30 years ago.

According to CBS, the 'Mary Tyler Moore Show' veteran will once again play August March in an early 2012 episode. Asner first played the role in the 1975 episode of the original 'Hawaii Five-0' titled 'Wooden Model of a Rat.'

"It is thrilling to, for the first time, merge the original 'Hawaii Five-0' and our new show by having the classic, versatile and award-winning actor Ed Asner reprise his role of August March, a character Mr. Asner first played 36 years ago. There is no better way to form a bridge between our reboot and the original series," Peter Lenkov, 'Hawaii Five-0' executive producer, said in a statement.

For the first time, footage from the original series featuring Asner will be used. The archive footage will show his character in his smuggler days. When Asner's character appears in the new series, he'll be a reformed man after serving 30 years in prison for murder. The Five-0 team approach him for help on a smuggling case.

'Glee' Season 3, Episode 8 Recap: It's Sectionals Time! And the Winner Is...

by Crystal Bell, posted Dec 6th 2011 10:20PM
glee season 3 hold on to sixteen['Glee' -- 'Hold on to Sixteen']

Say what you want about 'Glee,' but any show that can actually pull off an amazing 'Man in the Mirror' cover is OK in my books, and that's exactly what the New Directions did in 'Hold on to Sixteen. 'But it was more than just 'the Sectionals episode.' It actually gave me some hope for the rest of the season, hope that the writers had not forgotten about their characters.

Crazy Quinn? She's gone ... Hooray! It's been a rough few seasons with Quinn, but here's hoping that her crazy spell is officially over because I happen to really love Dianna Agron.

I don't know what I enjoyed more in this episode: Sam's anticipated return, the Troubletones awesome 'Survivor/I Will Survive' diva mash-up, the New Directions' Jackson family medley or Rachel and Quinn's surprising character developments.

But let's get back to Sectionals. It was a battle for show choir dominance, and in the end, only one glee club could advance to Regionals. And the Sectionals glory goes to ...

'Glee' Star Harry Shum Jr. On His Biggest Dance Number Yet

by Chris Harnick, posted Dec 6th 2011 4:37PM
Harry Shum Jr. InterviewHarry Shum Jr. has had one heck of a year on 'Glee.' His character, Mike Chang, had his first solo, taught the rest of New Directions how to dance like pros and had a meaty storyline with his parents.

And all of that in just the first half of the third season.

"I think the storyline with the dad and the family is kind of an ongoing thing," Shum told AOL TV during a phone interview in early December. "I don't know when we'll see it actually wrap up and move on to something else."

After two seasons as a background player, Shum is getting his chance to shine in the spotlight. But he's not the only one getting some love from writers in upcoming episodes-- he's rooting for his on-screen girlfriend to get the same treatment.

"I'm hoping that more is happening with Mike and Tina that we'll get in deeper with, but more focused on Tina, which I'm happy about," he said. "It's been a long time coming since we actually saw a storyline with Tina."

McKinley High School's two glee clubs, New Directions and Trouble Tones, face off, New Directions and Trouble Tones, face-off in Sectionals, and the underdogs have an ace up their sleeve: returning member Sam Evans (Chord Overstreet) and a Jackson family medley. Yep, Jackson 5, Janet Jackson and Michael Jackson all get the 'Glee' treatment.

Republicans Hate 'Jersey Shore,' Love 'The Bachelor'

by Chris Harnick, posted Dec 6th 2011 2:30PM
Democrat, Republican TV StudySnooki's poof apparently doesn't work its magic on Republicans.

A new study by Experian-Simmons found conservative-leaning viewers tend to favor reality programming like 'Dancing With the Stars,' 'The Bachelor,' 'The Biggest Loser,' 'MythBusters,' but one exception to that trend was 'Jersey Shore.' Also among GOP favorites is the History Channel's block of programming: 'Only in America with Larry the Cable Guy,' 'American Pickers,' and 'Swamp People.'

Two other popular liberal shows, 'Glee' and 'Modern Family,' topped the conservative list last year, but are no longer two of the favorite shows among Republican viewers, according to EW. They did, however, still rank high with those on the more liberal end of the political spectrum.

YouTube sensation turned recording artist and TV star Greyson Chance visited 'Good Day LA' (weekdays 9AM PT on Fox) to talk about what might be next in the 14-year-old's ridiculously busy career. It was just last April when Greyson posted his performance of Lady Gaga's 'Paparazzi' onto the Web; since then he's been on 'Ellen,' recorded an album and was cast as young Jimmy on 'Raising Hope.' His character Jimmy was incredibly talented as a child, but as Chance explained it, "Then I get hit by a golf club ... and that changes everything."

Dorothy Lucey asked Chance about rumors that he might be making an appearance on 'Glee,' but he shot them down with a smile. "Please, spread them," he joked. "I would love to be on 'Glee.'"

Chord Overstreet on His Return to 'Glee' in a Speedo

by Crystal Bell, posted Dec 5th 2011 4:20PM
chord overstreet gleeGleeks, get ready. Sam Evans is returning 'Glee', and Chord Overstreet couldn't be more excited to return to the role that made him -- and his Trouty Mouth lips -- famous.

In this week's all-new 'Glee' (Tues., Dec. 6 at 8PM ET on Fox), Sam is back -- guitar and 'Red Solo Cup' in hand -- to help the New Directions win Sectionals.

This time around, Sam ditches his football cleats for a skin-tight speedo in hopes of scoring a Letterman jacket, and a date with his ex, Mercedes. But it's not going to be easy. "She's not exactly up for just dropping her current boyfriend, so that's a little frustrating for Sam," Overstreet told AOL TV. "He never really got over her."

While Overstreet can't confirm how long he'll be sticking around McKinley, he does have an exciting project coming up. After leaving 'Glee' last summer, he went straight to the studio to start working on his acoustic pop debut album, which fans can expect sometime in 2012.

"I got a lot of great stuff done, and I'm really excited about how the finished album is going to sound," Overstreet said. "I think I'll be ready to release an album around next year."

Glee Cast PsychiatristWhen you're part of a big ensemble TV cast, there's a lot of downtime on set. While some stars retreat to their trailers in solitude, the cast of 'Glee' has found a different way to pass time between takes.

'Glee' heartthrobs Chord Overstreet and Harry Shum Jr. recently told AOL TV about their favorite game-- "psychiatrist."

"We sit in the room and one person leaves the room and has no idea what's going on and everyone in the room has to come up with a problem that they all have," Shum told us during a recent phone interview. "Then, the 'psychiatrist' has to come in and guess what problem everyone has."

Despite the faux title, the actor says being a "psychiatrist" on the 'Glee' set is not an easy job.

'Glee': 'Hold on to Sixteen' Song Previews and Performances

by Crystal Bell, posted Dec 2nd 2011 11:45AM
glee hold on to sixteenIt's New Directions v. the Troubletones in next week's all new 'Glee' (Tues., 8PM ET on Fox). In 'Hold on to Sixteen,' it's Sectionals time, but without Rachel to rely on, the New Directions need a little extra help from an old friend -- Sam Evans!

Trouty Mouth -- and his guitar -- return just in time to help the New Directions take down the Troubletones at Sectionals, but Santana and Mercedes aren't going down without a fight. And judging by the recently released video of the Troubletones diva-licious Sectionals mash-up, 'Survivor/I Will Survive,' the New Directions are going to have quite a challenge on their hands.

But how can you go wrong with a Jackson family medley? Not to mention that Sam must have some crazy dance skills now that he's spent some time as White Chocolate.

Listen to the songs -- and see Sam get down with his red solo cups -- after the jump.

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 2nd 2011 2:30AM
Matthew Morrison, 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'When you think about who might be more difficult to direct between Jane Lynch and Chewbacca -- well, who has to think about such ridiculous things? As Matthew Morrison revealed on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC), he did.

Morrison recently wrapped directing an episode of 'Glee' in which the cast put on a Christmas special that was an homage in part to the 'Stars Wars' Christmas special that most fans of the film series laugh at and at the same time wish had never happened.

But George Lucas granted them the official Chewbacca for the suit. But it wasn't Chewbacca who stopped Morrison before a critique and said, "Before you say anything, I just want to remind you that I have an Emmy Award and I was just nominated for a People's Choice Award."
