Chord Overstreet's 'Glee' Return (PHOTOS)

by Chris Harnick, posted Dec 1st 2011 2:15PM
Chord Overstreet GleeWelcome back, Trouty Mouth.

Chord Overstreet makes his triumphant return to 'Glee' (Tues., Dec. 13, 8PM ET on Fox) after a sudden departure.

News of Overstreet's exit broke this summer after the actor wasn't offered a series regular gig on the teen musical show. Series co-creator Ryan Murphy said Overstreet was welcome to return as a recurring guest star, but Overstreet decided to pursue his music and other acting gigs. Since leaving 'Glee' he guest starred on ABC's 'The Middle.' However, he's taken up the recurring offer and his character Sam Evans will return to help New Directions perform at Sectionals.

"We love Chord and have always said that we wanted him back," Murphy said in a statement in October. "So here's an early Christmas present for all the Gleeks -- Sam is coming back to McKinley, and just in time for sectionals!"

In preview photos below, Overstreet's character is performing for the glee club. Even his trusty guitar is back.

Gloria Estefan to Play Santana's Mom on 'Glee'?

by Catherine Lawson, posted Dec 1st 2011 6:45AM
Gloria EstefanGloria Estefan is in talks to play Santana's mom on 'Glee.' How perfect a piece of casting would that be?! According to 'Entertainment Weekly,' Estefan will appear in the same January episode as Ricky Martin, who's reportedly playing McKinley High's Spanish teacher.

Martin is slated to headline two musical numbers in the episode, which will also feature Estefan's music and some other bilingual tunes. A source told 'EW' that the entire cast is "really really big fans of hers and we love her music and her husband's music."

This week on 'Glee' Santana came out of the closet only for her grandmother to disown her. However, Santana told her classmates that her (as yet unseen) parents were supportive of her coming out. So now the question is, if Glora Estefan is Santana's mom, then who's her dad?

'Glee' Season 3, Episode 7 Recap: Santana Comes Out and There's a New Class President

glee season 3 episode 7 recap['Glee' -- 'I Kissed a Girl']

Uh. Maybe it's time to bring the leprechaun because 'Glee' could really use some magic. Sure, every season has its good episodes and its not so good episodes -- unfortunately, 'I Kissed a Girl' was one of the not so good ones. In fact, it was down-right frustrating.

The story lines were all over the place, the music was awful -- which was especially upsetting because I happen to really like chick rock -- and the worst part? It made me stop caring about these characters. Not to mention that I think I fell out of love with Blaine. This could be a problem.

In fact, the only character I sympathized with this episode was Santana (and Coach Bieste, but I'll get to that). The one thing I think 'Glee' does consistently well is demonstrate how gay teenagers feel about coming out. This episode featured an emotional scene between Santana and her grandmother -- her beloved abuela.

Not everyone is as accepting as Burt Hummel, and Santana learned that first-hand.

Ricky Martin GleeRicky Martin is in talks to return to TV with a guest role on 'Glee.'

According to TVLine, Martin will play a Spanish teacher. Naturally, Martin will headline two musical numbers on the hit Fox series.

It seems as if 'Glee' is lifting its "no guest star" ban for Martin. In June, series co-creator Ryan Murphy said the show was going back to basics.

'Glee': 'I Kissed a Girl' Song and Photo Previews

by Chris Harnick, posted Nov 26th 2011 12:20PM
Glee I kissed a GirlIt seems the 'I Kissed a Girl' episode of 'Glee' (Tues., 9PM ET on Fox) will be very Santana-centered and we couldn't be happier.

In the episode, Santana and Finn deal with the repercussions of their hallway confrontation and the other students rally to help Santana come to terms with sexuality.

The show takes on songs from leading female musicians such as Katy Perry, Melissa Etheridge and more. Plus, Coach Beiste gets her first solo, covering Dolly Parton's 'Jolene.'

Listen to the songs and check out some preview photos below.

'Glee' Covers Katy Perry's 'I Kissed a Girl'

by Crystal Bell, posted Nov 23rd 2011 2:00PM
glee I kissed a girlSo now that Santana's out of the closet she obviously needs to express her feelings in song, right? At least that's what Finn thinks. In an effort to help Santana cope with coming out -- and probably because he feels a little bad for being the one to push her out of the closet -- Finn comes up with a plan that will bring the New Directions and the Troubletones together -- in song. Finn's plan? Sing only songs written and performed by women, for women.

Naturally, Katy Perry's bi-curious anthem 'I Kissed a Girl' is a perfect choice for our favorite McKinley high Latina diva.

Accompanied by her fellow Troubletones, Mercedes, Sugar and Brittany, and the New Directions' girls Rachel, Quinn and Tina, Santana shakes and shimmies her way down the McKinley halls and into the choir room.

Of course, the boys are totally digging it, especially newbie Rory, who gets a little too excited.

Is 'Glee' Planning a Jackson Family Tribute for Sectionals?

by Crystal Bell, posted Nov 22nd 2011 11:35AM
glee: the music, volume 7It looks like the holidays will be exceptionally gleeful for 'Glee' fans this season. 'Glee: The Music, Volume 7' is hitting the shelves -- and iTunes -- on Dec. 6. Not only will it feature some of Season 3's best, like the widely praised Adele mash-up, 'Rumour Has It/Someone Like You,' but it also includes three Jackson classics, 'ABC,' 'Control' and 'Man in the Mirror.'

Does this mean the New Directions will be singing a Jackson medley for Sectionals? All signs are point toward YES! ... but we'll have to wait and see.

Now here's the real question: Who will sing what? Hopefully, Artie can continue his Michael Jackson streak, having covered both 'Thriller' and 'P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)' for the New Directions.

Check out the full track list after the jump.

'Glee' Season 3, Episode 6 Recap: Finn Pushes Santana Out of the Closet (VIDEO)

glee mash off['Glee' -- 'Mash Off']

Hear that, gleeks? That was the slap heard around the world -- and it was also a huge wake-up call for 'Glee' fans everywhere because that was seriously one of my favorite episodes ever. Okay, so it had a little too much Sue Sylvester for my liking, but at least her slandering ways had a purpose this episode. Everything from the song choices to the tight choreography and witty one-liners made this episode a knock-out.

And since Puck's tacky "Hot for Teacher" serenade happens within the first five minutes, it's easy to forget it ever happens. On the other hand, the Troubletone's "Rumor Has It/Someone Like You" Adele mash-up is now second favorite 'Glee' song ever (because nothing can come close to "Teenage Dream" in my book).

Naya Rivera, you have officially become my favorite gleek. Sorry Chris Colfer, but you had your season last year, and although I still love you and your fabulous ensembles, now, it's Naya's chance to shine -- and Santana's coming out storyline is pretty explosive.

For starters, she didn't come out. She was pushed out by an angry, fed up Finn.

'Glee': Listen to 'Mash Off' Music Here

glee songs from mash off'Glee' is back at one of the things it does best: mash-ups! We just wish we could say that all of them are as good as Santana and Mercedes' epic Adele mash-up.

After five weeks of neglect, Finn finally gets his time to shine. He's featured in three of the five songs this week, and it looks like he'll even get a drum solo. Shelby also makes her vocal debut this season, singing a slow-tempo 'You & I/You & I' mash-up with Will. Shelby must really like Lady Gaga because this is her second Gaga song on 'Glee,' but we prefer her 'Poker Face' duet with Rachel in Season 1.

'Glee': Watch the 'Rumor Has It/Someone Like You' Adele Mash-Up Here!

by Crystal Bell, posted Nov 10th 2011 12:15PM
glee rumor has it/someone like you mashupEver since we found out that Mercedes and Santana were going to sing a diva-licious Adele mashup in the upcoming 'Mash Off' episode of 'Glee,' we've been impatiently waiting to see the real thing. Thankfully, the wait is over.

Fox has released the first sneak peek of the anticipated episode featuring Shelby's Troubletones take on the hyped-up Adele mash-up.

Honestly, after weeks of show tunes and older classics, we're happy to hear some Top 40 again. Not to mention that this might be one of our favorite 'Glee' tracks ... ever. Here's hoping that the Troubletones stick around for awhile because we need more of Mercedes and Santana's flawless duets.

And the best part? As our own Maggie Furlong previously reported, the mash-up is Adele-approved!

'Glee' Season 3, Episode 5 Recap: Let's Talk About Sex (VIDEO)

by Crystal Bell, posted Nov 8th 2011 9:05PM
glee season 3, episode 5 recap After last week's so-so episode, I got a little worried for 'Glee.' Even though Season 3 is already better than a majority of the cringe-worthy Season 2, viewers seem like they're getting a little gleeked out. Honestly, I can't blame them. 'Glee' hasn't always been a show that prides itself on character development -- but after watching 'First Time,' I hope people start to change their minds.

Guys, our show is starting to come back, and it's more heartfelt than ever.

Okay, so it wasn't a perfect episode by any means. Initially, I was thrown off by Artie, who seemed to be playing some sort of naughty-minded cupid, and by Rachel and Blaine's blatant naivety, but halfway in, I started to see the episode's heart. It wasn't about teenagers having sex, it was about love. That can't-eat, can't-sleep, reach-for-the-stars, over-the-fence, World Series forever kind of love.
