Colbert cooks with Fonda and Steinem - VIDEO
by Joel Keller, posted Oct 17th 2006 6:39PM
I know this aired last week, but I thought it was one of the finer moments on the now one-year history of The Colbert Report (it first aired one year ago today...):During a special episode Colbert called "A Salute to the American Lady" (which he was "mandated" to do for various reasons), Stephen interviewed noted femenists Jane Fonda and Gloria Steinem, who were starting a radio network called GreenStone Media. The interview was about the role of feminism in today's world. But, instead of talking to them in a normal setting, he decided it would be more appropriate to talk to them during a cooking segment.
So there's Colbert, Fonda and Steinem, talking feminism while wearing aprons and making some silly-looking apple pie. Both women even followed the suggestion on Stephen's apron and kissed the cook (Jane kissed Stephen more than once... that minx!). It was a simple but funny juxtaposition, and the fact that both Fonda and Steinem got the joke made it even better. The video of the segment is after the jump.
