The Biggest TV Turkeys of 2011

by AOL TV Staff, posted Nov 22nd 2011 12:00PM
TV Turkeys: Playboy Club, Entourage, Cougar TownThere are plenty of shows to be thankful for, but 2011 was also the year for some major TV turkeys.

You know what we're talking about -- those shows or televised events that are just too horrific for even our "worst" lists of the year.

We've picked our top turkeys, included proof of poultry, and ranked them on a gobble-meter scale of 1-10, 1 being the least offensive or surprising in terms of suckiness, and 10 being scream-at-your-TV-in-anger levels of suck that we hope we never have to endure again.

Take a look at our list, then chime in down in the comments with your own top picks for the bottom of the barrel.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy Charms His 'H8R' Through Dance (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 6th 2011 1:30AM
Maksim Chmerkosvskiy, 'H8R'Maksim Chmerkovskiy was the target of Rebecca's vitriol on 'H8R' (Wed., 8PM ET on ABC). She'd decided, based on seeing him on 'Dancing With the Stars,' that he was way too full of himself and that she therefore couldn't stand him.

But Chmerkovskiy knows the way to a woman's heart is through her feet. He dressed Rebecca up in one of those frilly almost-there dresses the women wear on 'Dancing' and gave her a cha-cha-cha she'll not soon forget. In fact, he quite literally had her swooning by the end.

In fact, she decided that she was no longer a hater, but now a lover. "Better look out or I'll go into heat," she laughed.

Cancellation Watch: Which New Show Should Get the Axe First?

by Chris Harnick, posted Sep 30th 2011 3:15PM
Which Show Should be Canceled? We're well into the new 2011-2012 TV season and there are a few hits (ABC's 'Pan Am,' CBS's '2 Broke Girls') and a number of flops (The CW's 'H8R,' NBC's 'The Playboy Club'), and the cancellation axe will start swinging very soon.

In terms of ratings, many of NBC's new shows are sinking. Coupled with critical appeal, it looks like the network is having the least luck this season. 'Free Agents' and 'The Playboy Club' are on death watch, yet NBC boss Bob Greenblatt seems to be content on watching, not canceling.

CBS has had some luck in finding an audience for its new dramas like 'Person of Interest,' as well as comedy '2 Broke Girls,' but the premiere of 'How to Be a Gentleman' did nowhere near 'Girls' numbers ... nor anywhere near the now-canceled '$#*! My Dad Says' that lived ever-so-briefly in that timeslot last season.

Deena Hates Kim Kardashian Because of Her Curves on 'H8R' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 29th 2011 1:00AM
Kim Kardashian, 'H8R'Deena decided to make her rant against Kim Kardashian on behalf of the African-American community, whether they wanted her to or not, on 'H8R' (Wed., 8:30PM ET on ABC). At least, that what it looked like when she was complaining that Kim had curves, saying, "I thought we had a corner on that. That's us. That's who we are."

She also took issue with the Kardashian family not doing enough for the African-American community. So Kim had to defend a perhaps legitimate argument here, and then one that sounded more like petty jealousy.

She explained that curves on women is also an Armenian thing, but that didn't seem to win Deena over. But when she talked about going to New Orleans to help after Katrina, and taking multiple trips to Africa to help impoverished people there, Deena started to lighten up.

'Kardashians' Star Scott Disick Decides He Hates His 'H8R' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 22nd 2011 3:15AM
Scott Disick, 'H8R'One of the easiest targets for a show like 'H8R' (Wed., 8PM ET on The CW) has to be Scott Disick. From his first appearance on 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians' as Kourtney's boyfriend, fans have been polarized about him. Quite frankly, we're pretty sure most people decided pretty quickly that they didn't like him.

So he gamely went on this reality show to see if he could change the mind of one hater, Dayla. True to form, he stayed who he was, which meant arrogant, pushy and elitist. An unexpected side effect of their encounter, though, was how he wound up feeling about her.

'H8R' Premiere: Snooki Finds Out Her Hater's Mom Is a Hater, Too (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 15th 2011 1:18AM
Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi, 'H8R'Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi and former 'Bachelor' Jake Pavelka were the first subjects of new reality series 'H8R' (Wed., 8PM ET on The CW). The new series puts together C-list celebrities with regular people who hate them to see what happens when the celebrity stops being the sum of their tabloids and television appearances.

In premise, the show isn't a bad idea, but in execution it was lacking. Plus, am I the only one who doesn't understand why this is a fall-launching show on a major network (minor-major network, but still!)? 'H8R' feels like the kind of filler that does quite well in the summertime, and even better on cable. Even the textable title screams MTV.

Did you H8 The CW's 'H8R'?

by Chris Harnick, posted Sep 14th 2011 10:01PM
Jake Pavelka, H8RWhen I watched 'H8R,' I wasn't expecting much. However, I had a little faith there would be at least some entertainment value. There wasn't.

This show is probably one of the least real reality shows out there.

The premise: "Real" people (putting real in quotes because I'm not convinced these people aren't actors) hate "celebrities" (putting celebrities in quotes because this show is filled with lots of D-list reality stars), then there is a confrontation between the "real" person and "celebrity."

After the two spend a day together, the show ends on a message of "bullying is bad" -- hey, it is -- and the two people go on their merry way.

Orange County Choppers Faces Foreclosure, Fox Hit With 'Lie to Me' Lawsuit and More

by Chris Harnick, posted Jan 25th 2011 12:00PM
Paul Teutul Sr.Orange County Choppers is facing foreclosure on an upcoming episode of its reality series, 'American Chopper.'

In November, the Times Herald Record reported that the lender behind OCC's headquarters in Newburgh, N.Y., filed a foreclosure action against the reality stars. The preview for next week's 'American Chopper: Senior Vs. Junior' showed Paul Teutul Sr. dealing with the news.

According to The Times Herald Record, Orange County Choppers has two mortgages through GE Commercial Finance Business Property Corp. One is for $11 million and the other is for $1.5 million. The November foreclosure action said the OCC missed payments of $96,400 and $14,000. They were due July 1.

Richard Mahon, lawyer for the Choppers, told the newspaper in November that his clients stopped making payments to put pressure on the lender to modify terms of the loan since the value of the building has changed in the recession.

"This is just a bump in the road," Mahon told the Record. "We believe the parties will reach a resolution and the headquarters will continue in this location."
