Obamas can even make hairdressers into stars
by Brad Trechak, posted Jan 21st 2009 11:00AM
Even people tangentially associated with the Obamas are now becoming television stars. It seems that the First Lady's hairstylist Johnny Wright now has a reality television show deal with 44 Blue, which produces such reality television hits as Split Ends and L.A. Gang Unit.Obviously, now that she's the First Lady, Michelle Obama is going to be the focus of attention for a lot of fashionistas. There has been some mixed reviews of her choice of inaugural gown. No doubt we'll be seeing the designer of that dress (a Taiwan-born up-and-comer named Jason Wu) on some sort of reality television show shortly.
While I'm really not up on lady's fashions, this does make me wonder who else associated with the Obamas will get their own television show. Their chauffeur? Their nanny? Whomever gets a show, I think the Obamas will likely not be appearing on it. They have bigger fish to fry.
Bravo searches for the next great hairstylist

Fashion? Yes. Models? Sure. Hairstylist? Alrighty then. Bravo has picked up a series with a working title called Top Hair (the previous working title was the equally displeasing Heads Up). The cable network will air eight, one-hour episodes where hairstylists compete to win $100,000. The contestants will be tasked with normal cuts, colors, and wacky stuff-- and they all have to live together in the same house, where I predict that scissors will be used in lieu of a knife during some sort of bitchfest.Seems weird, right? I think what's missing here is a celebrity. Project Runway has Heidi Klum and America's Next Top Model has uber-crazy Tyra Banks, but who is famous for hair?
