Hannah Montana no more
by Brad Trechak, posted Jan 9th 2010 2:05PM
The Disney Channel has confirmed that this upcoming fourth season of the popular tween sitcom Hannah Montana will be the last. The final season will have guest-stars such as Ray Liotta and Two and a Half Men's Angus T. Jones.Gee, what was the first clue that this would be the final season, Disney? Was it Miley Cyrus' increasing star power? Was it her singing career (which is for Disney records so it's not like the relationship is ending)? Was it the fact that she's getting older and before too long won't be able to pass for a high school student anymore? Or is she just fed up with the role?

What You Missed Last Night: Signs your toddler watches too much TV
by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 15th 2009 4:25PM
Let's face it, the Top Ten list on The Late Show with David Letterman can be hit or miss some nights (and just miss other nights). But they can still make lists where every entry is pretty damn funny. That happened last night, as Letterman presented the "Top Ten Signs Your Toddler Watches Too Much Television." Hey, it's TV-related so it's a perfect list for us.

New TV on DVD releases this week
by Bob Sassone, posted Aug 17th 2009 6:06PM
Here are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow. How can so many TV DVDs be released on one day and still there isn't one that I want to buy? The only one of the below sets that I might be interested in getting would be Simon & Simon. And that's only because it's one 80s action drama that I never got into for some reason but feel I should catch up on. But there's plenty of stuff for fans of every type of show, from Sons of Anarchy to The Smurfs.
- The Beast - Season 1
- Cracker - The Complete Series
- Dexter - Season 3
- Dirty Sexy Money - Season 2
- Eli Stone - Season 2
- Everybody Hates Chris - Season 4
Miley and the stripper's pole: thumbs up or thumbs down?
by Bob Sassone, posted Aug 11th 2009 10:07AM
It's an extraordinary thing when the 16 year-old star of a show on the Disney Channel can pole-dance on national TV, but that's what happened last night on FOX. People aren't happy about it. Personally, I think if Cyrus wants to dance around a stripper's pole (yeah, "dancer's pole" - uh huh) or wants to date an entire football team or meet sailors down at the dock, fine, I guess that's her right.
I just don't think she should do it on a show called The Teen Choice Awards.

JONAS in iCarly witness relocation while Hannah and Sonny get renewals
by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 2nd 2009 6:07PM
Looks like the Disney Channel underestimated the power of Nickelodeon's iCarly. Their attempts to squash the possible threat to their Hannah Montana empire were squashed, however, when a special iCarly smashed the second episode of JONAS, the new star vehicle for the Jonas Brothers. So to make themselves feel better, and despite what Miley Cyrus may have been saying, the show will go on. Disney has picked up Hannah Montana for a fourth season, as well as Demi Lovato's Sonny With a Chance for a second. As for JONAS, it's already been yanked from Saturdays where, despite an impressive debut, it got slammed in its second outing by iCarly. So now, it's joining the Disney Sunday lineup, where it can nestle snugly behind Hannah Montana and Sonny With a Chance. This does create a powerhouse Sunday night for the network, while protecting the two newer shows with the power of Miley Cyrus.
Disney grooming Wizards of Waverly Place to be their "next big thing"
by Jason Hughes, posted May 2nd 2009 12:08PM
Disney is doing everything they can to make sure that their target demo of 9-14 year olds can't breathe without choking on the Russos of Wizards of Waverly Place. Other than that, And with Miley Cyrus talking publicly about life after Hannah Montana, whenever that might be, it's time to look to Wizards of Waverly Place's Selena Gomez. As such, Disney has renewed Wizards for a third season and even greenlit a telefilm for the property. What they really need to do is stream it on Hulu to ensure it is. The kids are online, you know.
Right now on Cinematical

The folks at our sister site Cinematical are working hard to give you news and reviews of the best -- and worst -- the silver screen has to offer. Here are some of their musings on the latest blockbusters, indies, and everything in between:- As much as I love Seth Rogen, Observe and Report looks just a little too much like Paul Blart: Mall Cop for my tastes. Read the review and see if it's actually worth checking out this weekend.
- I would say that not only should Jon Hamm be in more movies, but Jon Hamm should be in every movie. Crazy? Maybe. Awesome? Definitely.
- If you have kids who are into Miley Cyrus, you're going to be seeing Hannah Montana this weekend, regardless of the reviews. However, it may not hurt to read one just to see what you may be getting yourself into.
- 8 Mile and Die Hard reimagined as 50s French Classics? Uh, okay. Why not?
- Cinematical puts out a call for women who hate The Big Lebowski. I am definiitely not one of them.
