Lost book author revealed!

by Bob Sassone, posted Jun 19th 2006 12:50PM
Bad TwinWhen Bad Twin, the Lost tie-in novel supposedly written by an ill-fated passenger of Oceanic Flight 815, was published a few months ago, rumor and speculation ran wild. Some said that Lost fanatic Stephen King had written it, while others thought it was Jerry Seinfeld (huh, I never heard that one). But Hercules over at Ain't It Cool News points us to a Variety article that says the book was written by...Lawrence Shames!

Shames is a well-known mystery writer, with a series of books set in Florida, and also a ghostwriter who has helped pen books by various people. But it seems that the people behind Lost aren't entirely happy with his work on the book.

It would have been great if Seinfeld had written the book: "What's the deal with airline peanuts? You get this little package of peanuts, it's hard to open, and before you know it, some guy on an island doesn't punch a button in time, and an electromagnetic field causes the plane to crash. I mean, am I right people?"

More on Lost: Missing DHARMA Initiative Video?

by Jonathan Toomey, posted Jan 25th 2006 2:27PM

Dharma InitiativeThis is actually pretty cool regardless of whether or not it turns out to be legit. Supposedly this video is another "lost" portion of the Hanso Foundation instructional film strips that we've seen on Lost. Check it out - there's no narration, which bugs me; just some ominous music accompanies it. I will say though, it does look like the real ones we've seen on the show.

A few things that seem off though? Why does the DHARMA logo change for each of the company's divisions? If that makes no sense, watch it and you'll see what I mean. And who's the bearded guy that looks like Paul Giamatti at the end of it? Plus, why couldn't we understand what founder Alvar Hanso was saying? It's almost as if his voice was muffled on purpose. Then there's the date. It was "copyrighted" 1981... did the other videos from the show have a copyright date? I couldn't remember.

If you need more of this check out the "actual" Hanso website for the original video, but what does everyone think of this "new" video? Is it for real and somehow got leaked or did someone with a video camera just get bored last weekend?
