by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 18th 2011 10:40AM
Harry Belafonte's been making the talk show rounds lately, promoting his new book and HBO documentary 'Sing Your Song' and dropping by the Occupy Wall Street protests. But the 84-year-old singer, actor and activist may be working himself a little too hard.Video has surfaced online of Belafonte taking a snooze during a live TV interview with the local CBS affiliate in Bakersfield, CA on Friday. When the camera cut to Belafonte, he's seen sitting upright in his interview chair, napping peacefully. The anchor, Layla Santiago, tried to wake him up, shouting, "Good morning, Harry!" and "Wake up, wake up," but she didn't have any luck.
Harry Belafonte Sings a Duet With Stephen Colbert on 'The Colbert Report' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 18th 2011 4:30AM
Harry Belafonte rarely sings in public anymore. But he made an exception for 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights, 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central). It really shouldn't have come as that big of a surprise to Colbert, considering the reception he got from Belafonte. The 'King of Calypso' seemed more honored and excited to be meeting Stephen Colbert and sitting in on his show than Colbert was to have him there. So when Colbert asked him if he would sing, the two broke into an impromptu duet.
The 84-year old's voice may be raspier than it was, but he proved he's still the King, while Colbert was clearly enthralled at being able to sing with a living legend. It was a sweet moment, apparently for both men.

Filmmaker Susanne Rostock tells the rich life story of artist and humanitarian Harry Belafonte in this feature-length documentary. Though the film touches on Belafonte's musical career, 'Sing Your Song' focuses much of its time on Belafonte's social activism, as he worked intimately with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., mobilized celebrities for social justice, participated in the struggle against apartheid in South Africa and took action to counter gang violence, prisons and the incarceration of youth. Those interviewed include Tonny Bennett, Diahann Carroll, Whoopi Goldberg, Quincy Jones, Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, as well as Belafonte's family and the artist himself.
