Harry Reid Claims 'But For Me, We'd Be in a World-Wide Depression' (VIDEO)
by Jeremy Taylor, posted Oct 22nd 2010 3:30PM
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is currently in a neck-and-neck battle with Tea Party candidate Sharron Angle for his Nevada Senate seat. In an interview with Ed Schultz on 'The Ed Show' (weekdays, 6 PM ET on MSNBC), Reid addressed why his race with Angle, who many people don't think is a particularly strong candidate, is so close."People have been hurting," Reid said, in reference to the depressed economy of Nevada. "I understand that. And it doesn't give them comfort or solace for me to tell them, 'but for me, we'd be in a world-wide depression."
Reid is catching a lot grief for claiming personal responsibility for saving the world from a depression, which we think is a little unfair. If we were suffering delusions of grandeur we'd have surely added that we also saved the world from famine and pestilence, and commend Reid for resisting that urge.
Fox News Analyst Compares Harry Reid to Plantation Owner (VIDEO)
by Jeremy Taylor, posted Aug 12th 2010 5:45PM
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid touched off controversy this week when he said "I don't know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican" -- a statement that may have irked Hispanic Republicans such as Brian Sandoval, who currently leads Reid's son Rory in the race for Nevada Governor.'Fox & Friends' (weekdays, 6AM ET on Fox News) turned to legal analyst Peter Johnson Jr. to deal with this delicate topic. Would Johnson use his dispassionate lawyer mind to de-escalate the rhetoric? Let's see:
"What this is is proof positive of the intentional injection of race into politics in this country by some Democratic leaders," Johnson argued. "[It's] really an attitude born of ignorance, and some ways prejudice, that ethnic groups are monolithic voting blocks.
"In some ways [Reid] is acting like a feudal lord," he continued. "In some ways he's acting like a plantation owner."
Plantation owner, huh? Couldn't just stop at "feudal lord." Sadly, one can only conclude that Peter Johnson Jr. Esq. was not trying to elevate discourse.
'The View' Panel on Harry Reid's Controversial Remarks (VIDEO)
by Donald Deane, posted Jan 12th 2010 12:00PM
The ladies of 'The View' got themselves in a tizzy over remarks by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who was quoted in a book on the 2008 presidential campaign that Barack Obama could be a successful black candidate because he is "light-skinned" and has "no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one."Whoopi Goldberg came to Reid's defense and argued his description of Obama is somewhat accurate, and that there are "a lot of worse things" Reid could have said. Best of luck making anything else out of this clip, however; network censors bleeped out much of the conversation, presumably due to the use of racially-offensive terms.

Jon started the episode with an apology to his family and neighbor for mistaking Quatro de Mayo for a drinking holiday. That's rather silly, as everyone knows that's actually Star Wars day ("May the Forth by with you"). The beginning of May also saw the anniversary of President Bush's flightsuit-tastic "Mission Accomplished" banner unveiling. Yeah, it doesn't hurt any less. White House spokeswoman Dana Perino attempted to ease the bitterness by admitting that the banner should have been more specific, stating, "Mission accomplished for these sailors who are on this ship on their mission." Jon also managed to call me out as one of the "font crazy" home viewers, because I made a weird face as I thought, "I'm pretty sure Times Courier isn't a real font..."The Daily Show: April 24, 2007

"Mess O' Potamac": Ahh, yes. I'm glad I wasn't the only one that felt extremely uncomfortable watching Nancy Pelosi pretend she didn't mind having Harry Reid's hand on her shoulder. The Bush vs. Bush debate was well-done. The Daily Show has totally mastered the art of collecting video clips. That is the beauty of doing a faux news show, is it not? CNN wishes they had a time machine to do a debate between past- and present-Bush.TV Squad Hot Topics
