Jay tried to make up with Dave; Dave didn't respond

by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 15th 2009 12:03PM
Letterman, LenoYup, it looks like Dave and Jay still aren't on speaking terms.

Who knows who is less interested in burying the hatchet? Publicly, it has always seemed that Jay would like to be friends with Dave again more than Dave wants to, though that might just be how Jay wants to frame it (it helps Jay's cause that Dave hardly ever gives interviews and is quiet on this subject in particular).

Now Jay tells GQ that he sent Dave a letter when Dave had his heart surgery several years ago, but was bummed when Dave didn't respond.

Regis returns to a really lame surprise

by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 26th 2007 2:19PM

RegisI haven't watched Live with Regis & Kelly in a while, but I tuned in today because it was Regis' first appearance on the show since heart surgery weeks ago and David Letterman was going to be the first guest. Throughout the entire show, Kelly kept saying that they had an incredible surprise for Regis. I even think she said that we should get our recording devices ready. Was Kathie Lee Gifford going to make an appearance? Was the entire Notre Dame football team going to carry Regis on their shoulders?

Regis coming back sooner than we thought?

by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 7th 2007 10:31AM

ReegeRegis Philbin, the iron man of daytime television and entertainment in general, looks to be on the mend after having triple-bypass surgery last month. The New York Post reports that not only is he walking again, but he's actually taking shopping trips with wife Joy, and told reporters that he was feeling well.

Originally he was supposed to be out for five weeks, but it's possible he could be back a little earlier than that (though it's already been three weeks, so I doubt he'll be back until the five weeks are up). He didn't ask me, but Regis? Take your time coming back. We know you're in great shape and a workhorse and all that, but really, you're 75 years old and just had major surgery. You don't need to be all excited listening to Kelly's stories about her kids and all those screaming fans.

On Monday, Martin Short will be the guest host on Live with Regis & Kelly, and then Pat Sajak takes over for the rest of the week. The following week, Jeff Probst is the guest host.

Charlie Rose returns on Monday

by Bob Sassone, posted Jun 8th 2006 3:04PM
Charlie RoseFor those of you who have missed Rose, he returns to the table on his PBS late night talk show this Monday. Rose has been gone from the show after having emergency heart valve surgery overseas in March. It was his second valve surgery, and he was in the hospital for a month.

It was interesting to see various fill-in hosts over the past few months. Some did really well, while others were noticably uncomfortable in the host chair (*cough* Peter Travers *cough*).
