The Twelve Days of Festivus: Three reality disasters

by Michael Pascua, posted Dec 21st 2009 11:00AM
Families from There Goes the NeighborhoodOn the third day of Festivus, TV gave to me ... three reality disasters!

For every good reality show that emerges, there are several horrid shows green-lit, giving reality television its negative light. I could have gone for days talking about tons of reality shows that were disastrous. Jon and Kate Gosselin became national disasters, but even their show had some merit watching a now single Kate deal with her family.

Here are three of the worst offenders of 2009, from least to most disastrous. Oh, and if you're wondering why a certain VH1 show that had Ryan Jenkins as a contestant isn't on the list, don't worry; we'll get to that later this week.

Heidi Not Pregnant, Spencer and Nation Relieved: 'The Hills' Finale (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Dec 2nd 2009 11:36AM
Watch Spencer Pratt's expression go from barely contained panic to relief (with still a bit of residual panic) as wife Heidi Montag reveals the results of a recent pregnancy test were negative on the season finale of 'The Hills.'

The couple has been arguing all season about whether to have a child. Heidi has been mulling over secretly quitting her birth control, while Spencer has been famously opposed to the idea of children and even looked into a vasectomy. In this clip, however, Spencer seems to have a change of heart and indicates he may want kids someday.

'The Hills' Season 6 Finale Recap

by Jane Boursaw, posted Dec 2nd 2009 6:15AM
The Hills: Spencer and HeidiWhat happened on this week's 'The Hills' season 5 episode 20, 'Season Finale' (some fans may have mistaken this as the season 6 finale) -- in 100 words or less.

Spencer plays video games with Enzo (does this kid have parents?) while sparring with Heidi about her trip to the pharmacy. "How did our marriage get to this point?" he says of her "sperm hijacking," but finally agrees to consider her feelings.

Brody and Jayde attend Taylor's engagement party, where talk quickly turns to their own future. He later tells his buddies he still has feelings for Kristin.

Lo Bosworth on 'The Hills' Season 5 Finale and What's in Store for Season 6

by Lauren Metz, posted Dec 1st 2009 6:57PM
Boy drama ... girl fights ... and the monstrosity that is known as Speidi. Yes, people, it's time for the season finale of 'The Hills.'

We caught up with Lauren 'Lo' Bosworth -- who made her reality show start as a teen on MTV's 'Laguna Beach' and later followed BFF Lauren Conrad to 'The Hills' -- last night before her flight from L.A. to New York to give us a sneak peek at what's ahead for the show and its stars. (Um, is Justin Bobby out of the picture yet, or what?)

Kimmel Pays Speidi a Backhanded Compliment on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Nov 20th 2009 1:25PM
Jimmy Kimmel delivered a compliment of sorts to Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live,' playing to the popular notion that Speidi's fame might not be warranted.

"The thing that really seems to upset people is, they say you're famous for no reason," Kimmel said. "To me, that's more impressive because a guy like Justin Timberlake, he sings, he dances, he acts. You guys made it with none of that stuff."

Heidi and Spencer Plotting Their Own Reality Series: Do They Need a Reality Check?

by Michael D. Ayers, posted Nov 17th 2009 11:50AM
Heidi Spencer PrattLike 'em or not, Heidi and Spencer Pratt are here to stay -- that is, if they get their wishes fulfilled.

In an interview with the Associated Press, 'The Hills' stars revealed their desires to stay in the reality game, and are currently shopping a new series. The concept: Instead of just showing the narrow version of the Pratts that we get on 'The Hills,' it would dig into the nether regions of their everyday lives and show ... everything!

"You don't get to see our everyday lives and what we do," Heidi Pratt said in reference to 'The Hills.' Still, should the couple get a green light, they'd still want to continue "working" on 'The Hills,' too.

Currently, they're promoting a tongue-and-cheek advice book, 'How to be Famous: Our Guide to Looking the Part, Playing the Press, and Becoming a Tabloid Fixture.' But the advice that TV fans may soon give them: go away. While they've found some sort of fan base on MTV, their major network experiment on NBC's 'I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!' didn't exactly go very well. Negative press flooded in, with the general consensus being that these two might be a wee bit spoiled and, um, clueless.

Audrina Patridge is leaving The Hills

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 31st 2009 3:38PM
Audrina PartridgeAudrina Patridge is the latest "cast" member to leave The Hills, following on the heels of Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port. To this news I ask: Can the rest of the cast leave so they can just cancel the show? We could only be so lucky.

No, reality television's favorite couple of prats, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt remain. You know, that could explain why everybody else is running from The Hills. The producers are hoping an injection of Kristin Cavallari, formerly of Laguna Beach will help. Personally, I'd be thrilled with the addition of some of the fine folks from the MMA to kick Speidi's ass. I'd watch that week after week.

Don't worry about Patridge, though. She says she's leaving The Hills to focus on that acting career she went to LA for. Which means starring in another reality show for MTV, apparently. The Audrina Show, produced by Survivor's Mark Burnett, will hit the airwaves 2010. Can somebody tell me what Burnett is doing attached to this project?

The results are in, and you voted Speidi off of E!

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 23rd 2009 2:02PM
Spencer Pratt & Heidi MontagSo E! ran a poll to see if their viewers wanted the network to stop covering the train wreck that is Speidi. Okay. Sure, that's fun. And by a startling 94% margin you have spoken, and you don't want E! covering Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag anymore. Even more surprising is that E! has agreed to follow this edict by their viewers and limit Spiedi stories only to life-altering or -ending events.

I think the celebrity-fueled tabloid news networks and magazines should look at these results and think about it. Speidi has been fueling many gossip stories the past few weeks, and here we find that nearly 100% of people don't want to hear it. And E! fans are gossipy fans to begin with.

5 Questions With: Daniel Baldwin

by Katy Kroll, posted Jun 12th 2009 8:00PM
As the older brother of Stephen Baldwin, Daniel had his work cut out for him when he joined 'I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here' late in the game as a replacement after Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt first split. After just one week on the show, though, Daniel got the boot.

While in the Costa Rican jungle, Daniel ate cow tongue, got in Janice Dickinson's face and cracked jokes with his bro, generating laughs and winning over fans. But it wasn't enough to keep him on the show.

Daniel spoke to AOL TV via conference call about what he expected from jungle life, what the real deal is with Janice and whether Spencer might actually be coming back one more time. -- Katy Kroll

Charity doesn't make for better TV

by Michael Pascua, posted Jun 8th 2009 2:04PM
The contestants of I'm A Celebrity quickly get out of the tank.I can't watch I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! The show is basically Big Brother but with an unwillingness to compete. Why do celebrities sign up for physically and mentally demanding reality shows when they don't want to compete? I'm looking at you, Dustin Diamond. To attempt to get some viewer sympathy, the celebrities are playing for charity. I feel bad for the charities that Heidi and Spencer have because I wouldn't want their douchebag antics associated with the charity's image.

Celebrity reality shows can succeed without having to play the charity card. It's all about maintaining the quality level.

5 Questions With: Angela V. Shelton

by Katy Kroll, posted Jun 5th 2009 5:30PM
As one-half of the comedy duo Frangela, Angela V. Shelton is always attached at the hip with best friend Frances Callier. But the pair was broken up Thursday night when Angela got booted off 'I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here.'

During her brief time on the show, Angela had an altercation with Spencer Pratt when he knocked a water bottle out of her hand; run-ins with spiders, snakes and rats; and drank a milkshake made out of cow intestines.

As the first to get voted off by viewers, Angela spoke to AOL TV via conference call about life in the Costa Rican jungle, what goes on behind the scenes and what the real deal is with Spencer and Heidi Montag. – By Katy Kroll

'I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here': Spencer Pratt Starts More Drama

by Andrew Scott, posted Jun 2nd 2009 11:00AM
Spencer Pratt I'm a Celebrity

NBC's 'I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here' premiered last night with results one would normally expect when a network sends 11 pampered celebrities into the jungles of Costa Rica: Patti Blagojevich was accidentally carried away by a river; the camp rallied around her husband, ex-Illinois Governor Rod; 'American Idol''s Sanjaya Malakar swallowed an Iguana's tail whole.

But even less surprising were the night's biggest scene-stealers: Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag -- uh, make that Heidi Pratt.

Wedding Watch: Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt

by Katy Kroll, posted Apr 24th 2009 5:45PM
Update: Well, they did it. For real ... supposedly. Yes, Heidi and Spencer walked down the aisle on Saturday -- while the cameras rolled and Lauren Conrad looked on. (Check out PopEater's coverage here.) Based on a poll we put up Friday, only 14% of Inside TV readers thought the duo did it for love. Now we want to know: Will their marriage last?

Will they or won't they? That is the question when it comes to Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt's rumored nuptials. The villainous 'Hills' duo is reportedly tying the knot -- for the second time -- in California tomorrow. With cameras rolling, of course.

Speidi made a big production out of running off to Mexico to elope last year, then claimed they didn't realize the "I do's" weren't legal in the States. And reports are already swirling that tomorrow's semi-secret do-over is being staged just to boost ratings for the 'Hills' finale. You don't say?

We want to know what you think: Will their union stand the test of time?
