Backstage Interviews at 'Dancing With the Stars': Shocker! Romeo's Safe! Kendra Wilkinson on Her Exit!
Even Romeo thought he and his partner Chelsie Hightower were going home on last night's results show of 'Dancing With the Stars.' But, it turns out that Season 12 is the season in which anyone can be ejected at any time -- even an improved dancer like Kendra Wilkinson, who not only has a huge fan base, but also wasn't in the bottom two in terms of scores from Monday night's show. After Wilkinson and partner Louis Van Amstel, who she credits for her successful journey, did a final twirl on the dance floor the couple walked the post-show press line.
TV Squad was on the scene to get reactions from the ejected duo and the surviving five pairs, who weighed in on a variety of topics including how and why they've survived and what they need to do to make it to the finals.
Backstage Interviews at 'Dancing With the Stars': Who's Going Home? Will Shirley Ballas Join the Show?
Two stars likely facing elimination tonight on 'Dancing With the Stars' are Romeo and Kirstie Alley, who are both tied in last place with 60 points. All the dancers started out with 30 points after performing in group dances. Romeo and his partner Chelsie Hightower then scored 30 points (out of 40) with their Samba while Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy earned the same for their Jive.
It's likely all going to come down to fan bases. The pairs spoke to TV Squad on the post-show press line to discuss what they think of their loyal followers.
The scene stealer of the night was guest instructor Shirley Ballas, Mark's mother, who takes no prisoners when it comes to being a dance teacher. She shared her thoughts with TV Squad on whether or not she'd join the show as a pro partner.
Backstage Interviews at 'Dancing With the Stars': Petra Leaves the Show Happy; Kirstie Says Maks Is 'Sex on a Stick'
The ousting proves that this season of the show is the most unpredictable. Nemcova recently topped the leader board, but after slipping to a three-way tie for last place this week she became vulnerable. After failing to gain enough votes to remain in the game, she and Chaplin learned their time on the show had come to an end.
Traditionally, models haven't fared well on 'DWTS.' Albert Reed was voted off early in season 5. Joanna Krupa, who arguably should have won season 9, was cut during the semifinals. Nemcova proved she's just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside, however, in her post-show interview in which she and Chaplin reflected on their time on the show and the duo's plans for the future.
If there's a sliver lining to their exit it's that they're not likely to find any embarrassing rehearsal footage of themselves in future video packages in the way Chelsie Hightower, Hines Ward and Maksim Chmerkovskiy did on Tuesday's results show.
Backstage Interviews at 'Dancing With the Stars': Sugar Ray Leonard's Exit and More Dating Rumors
Despite an improved performance and not being the lowest scoring couple, Sugar Ray Leonard and Anna Trebunskaya were sent packing last night on 'Dancing With the Stars.'The couple had scored 21 points on Monday's performance show and earned high praise from taskmaster judge Len Goodman, who said he was "thoroughly entertained" by the duo's Viennese Waltz.
Producers kept everyone guessing by having host Tom Bergeron announce that top-scoring duo Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas were in jeopardy and could be sent home. In the end, however, it was the revered fighter who went down for the count.
Leonard and Trebunskaya spoke to TV Squad on the post-show press line immediately after the live results show.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy Explains 'DWTS' Fall on 'GMA' (VIDEO)
On 'Dancing With the Stars' last night, Maksim Chmerkovskiy dropped partner Kirstie Alley while performing the rumba, explaining afterward that his "thigh just gave out" and that the fall had nothing to do with her.Chmerkovskiy further clarified the blunder on 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM ET on ABC), claiming that he suffered from a leg cramp. "It was ... like a charley horse. You know, it just gave out," he said.
Backstage Interviews at 'Dancing With the Stars': Maks and Kirstie on Their Week Three Fall
"Personal story" night always yields some heartfelt moments on 'Dancing With the Stars' and last night's installment of that theme was no exception as several stars cut open some veins, revealing stories of deep personal loss. They then incorporated those stories into their dances. The decisions that the stars and dancers made yielded some interesting results: Hines Ward and Petra Nemcova tied for first place, taking the top position from previous front-runner Ralph Macchio.
But the most dramatic moment of last night's performance was when Maksim Chmerkovskiy suffered a spasm in his thigh, which sent him and partner Kirstie Alley to the dance floor, shortly after they began their dance.
The Ukrainian-born ballroom bad boy and comedic actress extraordinaire quickly composed themselves, however, and resumed their rumba to 'Over the Rainbow,' earning applause from the audience and classy comments from the judges, who praised them for their inspiring comeback.
After the show, the stars and their pro dance partners reflected on the highs and lows of the evening. TV Squad was on the scene to get the scoop.
Everyone Is Proud of Hines Ward's Samba on 'Dancing With the Stars' (VIDEO)
We would like to go on the record as saying we are proud of Hines Ward, too. His Samba with professional partner Kym Johnson on 'Dancing With the Stars' (Mon., 8PM ET on ABC) was easily his best performance of the competition so far. And we're not the only ones who think so.The judges gave Ward and Johnson a total of 25 points, tying them with Petra Nemcova and Dmitry Chaplin for the highest marks of the night. And, more importantly, they were proud of him.
"Mama, you must be so proud of him," Carrie Ann Inaba said to his mother, sitting nearby. "Hines, you were dancing the Samba like you've been dancing the Samba your whole life."
Backstage Interviews at 'Dancing With the Stars': Week Two Elimination Nerves
He may have the best smile, but Mike Catherwood is also the least-known star on season 12 of 'Dancing With the Stars', and his combined score of 30 after two weeks of dancing is the lowest. Can the Los Angeles disc jockey and his partner Lacey Schwimmer evade tonight's elimination on 'DWTS'?"I have the lowest fan base and lowest score," Catherwood told TV Squad on the post-show press line last night. "If anything keeps us on the show beyond this week we'll have to do things differently. It can't be just, 'Oh, I'll try harder.' We'll have to go back to the drawing board and break it down."
If Catherwood manages to avoid being sent home during tonight's elimination show he'll have Schwimmer to thank. She brings her own fan following, not just from 'DWTS,' but also from 'So You Think You Can Dance' on which she appeared from 2007–08.
Backstage Interviews at 'Dancing With the Stars': Week One Was 'Terrifying'
Ralph Macchio, 49, and Kirstie Alley, 60, are two of the older contestants on season 12 of 'Dancing With the Stars,' but after the first night of dancing they took early leads with top scores of, respectively, 24 and 23.The star of 'The Karate Kid' and his pro partner, Karina Smirnoff, performed a Foxtrot that judge Len Goodman called the best one of the night.
Macchio's an actor; did that play a role in how successfully he embraced his part on the dance floor?
"Yes. Dancing is like acting only you use your body," said Smirnoff. "It allows him tap into the character so much better."
"[Acting] is less painful," joked Macchio. "Less painful."
Does the DWTS 2011 Cast Have Enough Controversy?

Forget about having to master the Argentine Tango and the Paso Doble. 'Dancing With the Stars' contestants have to also learn how to handle the media since doing press is a big part of the show.
The season 12 contestants (minus model Petra Nemcova, who wasn't at the cast announcement) got their feet wet immediately after they were announced during Monday night's 'The Bachelor' by doing a round of start-up interviews with members of the media. TV Squad was on the scene to quiz the stars with a variety of questions.
