Balloon mom admits it was all a hoax
by Allison Waldman, posted Oct 24th 2009 8:07PM
Well, you sort of knew that this was coming, didn't you? The mother of balloon boy, Mayumi Heene, has admitted it was a hoax. The Heenes knew that Falcon wasn't in the balloon, that he was hiding in the garage. The entire boy in the balloon fiasco was a hoax from the get-go. Her court affidavit confirms what everyone has suspected. So, this was just another desperate attempt by the family to get on television. Honestly, have you ever heard anything so ridiculous?
I say that because if these parents have even a scintilla of sense, couldn't they have projected what was going to happen when the balloon came down? Couldn't they have seen that there was no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?
Mythbusters set to bust moon landing hoax myths
by Brad Trechak, posted Mar 14th 2008 9:42AM
Mythbusters on the Discovery Channel will be airing a special about the "hoax" of the original Moon landing. I guess they're going to determine if the 1969 Apollo mission happened or not.The team of Kari, Grant, and Tori went to the Marshall Space Flight Center to use a vacuum chamber. While there, they will be recreating Dave Scott's famous hammer and feather drop from the Apollo 15 mission.
Dutch kidney donor game show was a hoax
by Anna Johns, posted Jun 2nd 2007 10:02AM
A bunch of Dutch producers managed to get people's panties in a wad this week when they announced they were airing a show where contestants would vie to get a dying woman's kidneys. It turns out, it was a hoax. The Big Donor Show aired last night in The Netherlands, where producers revealed their entire ploy was to put pressure on the Dutch government to raise awareness of the need for organ donation. The show did air, but just to prove a point. The woman, "Lisa", who was supposedly dying of brain cancer (but not really) interviewed potential candidates for her kidneys. Some Dutch viewers said the show was an eye-opening experience, because it explained just how hard it is in The Netherlands for someone to actually receive a donated organ (Dutch rules tend to favor family or friends only). The contestants who took part in the show were really in need of kidneys, but they were all in on the "joke" ahead of time.
Only time will tell whether this ploy just pissed people off, or if it had an actual impact.
Paris' friends get spammed
by Adam Finley, posted Oct 23rd 2006 6:04PM
Hotel heiress, reality TV star and most-photographed land mammal Paris Hilton has inadvertently turned the folks on her MySpace "friends" list into enemies when an e-mail was sent out to each and every one of them telling them they had won a trip to meet her. The e-mails claimed to be from Paris herself, but requested that the recipient fill out a number of pop-up messages with personal information before finally revealing that there were no prizes and that the person had been placed on a spam list. I have to wonder who these people are that would go through all that trouble to meet Paris Hilton, especially since one could whittle down the front of a Barbie doll with a cheese grater and then sit across the table from it for an hour for essentially the same effect.TV Squad Hot Topics
