Kotb reported that Tareq had reported his wife missing to the FBI, and then called TMZ. "What kind of a person calls the FBI and then TMZ?" Gifford asked. Kotb then mentioned the TMZ report that had Michaele running off with Schon. "Apparently, TMZ said she's been dating him for a while," said Kotb. "Allegedly!" Gifford added.

"So there's still time for me," Gifford said. Kotb said the sexually active women enjoyed a better quality of life and were generally happier. "But what do you mean by 'active?'" Gifford asked. Kathie Lee and Hoda Sample Some Schweddy Balls Ice Cream (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Sep 8th 2011 4:20PM
Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford try Schweddy Balls on 'Today'It's been roughly 13 years since Alec Baldwin appeared on 'Saturday Night Live' with Molly Shannon and Ana Gasteyer for the infamous NPR Schweddy Balls sketch. The sketch has persisted enough in the public imagination that Ben & Jerry's just released a Schweddy Balls flavor, a vanilla infused with rum and fudge-covered rum and malt balls.

Wait, did you say rum? That explains why Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb were eager to give it a try on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC).

Gifford didn't seem to full appreciate the subtle double entendre, though. 'Schweddy Balls' is named for its creator, Pete Schweddy, but Gifford quickly dispatched with the nuance. "I've been trying to avoid sweaty balls all my life," she said. "But apparently, this is not what you want to avoid."

by Nick Zaino, posted Sep 7th 2011 2:35PM
Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb on 'Today'A fan recently gave Madonna a bouquet of hydrangeas, and she was caught on tape saying shortly thereafter, "I absolutely loathe hydrangeas. He obviously doesn't know that." Kathie Lee Gifford said Wednesday morning on 'Today' (7AM ET on NBC) that while she may sound ungrateful, Madonna pales in comparison to Hoda Kotb.

Kathie Lee pointed to an incident with a painting as an example. "I gave you a very big painting you promptly stuck in a closet," Gifford said to Kotb. "[I took] it to her New York apartment as a housewarming gift because she loves New Orleans, and thought she loved me -- she promptly sticks it in a closet someplace and throws up some, I don't know, what did you put on the wall there? A poster?"

by Nick Zaino, posted Sep 6th 2011 1:45PM
Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford on 'Today'Before Kathie Lee Gifford found success on the daytime talk circuit, she was an actress who had her share of TV failures. Tuesday on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC), she recalled a show that critics savaged - 'Hee Haw Honeys' - and spoke about her upcoming guest spot on 'Hot In Cleveland,' a show that's been much more well-received.

Gifford said TV Guide named 'Honeys' as "one of the worst ten shows ever on television." But at least she had a good time. "They hired three girls to be like a young Charlie's Angels, except we weren't," she said. "The pilot didn't sell, but they kept me, and then they surrounded me with 'Hee Haw' people. I loved it. I met all the country music people doing that show."

Japanese macaques gone wild on 'Today'Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb hosted David Mizejewski from the National Wildlife Federation and his friends Friday morning on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC). Mizejewski brought along a capybara, which is the largest rodent in the world, a marine toad, one of the largest amphibians, and a Japanese macaque, who did not handle his first TV appearance too well.

Everything went fine with the first animals, although the capybara was a little smelly. "You know how these animals are, they always are a little bit aromatic," said Mizejewski. Gifford did her best impression of the marine toad, bloating her cheeks and grimacing. "That frog swallowed a princess," she said. "Look at him."

'Today' Turns Their Patch of NYC Into a Zany Country Fair (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Aug 31st 2011 2:20PM
'Today' becomes a country fairOf all the things that could jump up and scare a woman in a busy city square in New York, it's usually not a frog. But that's what made Savannah Guthrie jump Wednesday on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC) when Matt Lauer pointed to her feet in mock surprise. 'Today' had turned their outdoor broadcasting space into a country fair that included jumping frogs and hay bale races.

The staff competed in the different events, including a frog jumping contest that predictably went awry when the frogs wouldn't jump in a straight line. They were also entertained by a young banjo player in a bluegrass ensemble.

"It's got Crystal Light in it," Kotb explained. "And some, uh ... booze." Kotb and de Laurentiis grimaced after tasting the drink. "I don't like it," de Laurentiis said. "Sorry, Miranda." Kotb thought it had too much Crystal Light in it. "If it had less it would be more delicious," she said.

Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb take their moms bowling on 'Today'Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb will find any excuse to get their moms, Joan Esptein and Sami Kotb, on TV with them. Friday on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC), it was a some competitive bowling. The team names were fitting -- Kotb and her mom were the Bowling Babes, and Gifford and her mom were the Gutter Gals.

You can't blame Epstein for being a little rusty. "I did bowl when I was a working girl years ago," she said. Working girl? "But we don't talk about that." They got a little help from World Tenpin Masters champion Chris Barnes, but even that couldn't save Gifford and Epstein.
