Holly Robinson Peete Describes Upcoming '21 Jump Street' Movie Cameo (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 13th 2011 5:25PM
Holly Robinson Peete talks about '21 Jump Street' on 'The Talk'Back in the '80s, when Johnny Depp was a TV heartthrob, Holly Robinson Peete was his '21 Jump Street' co-star, playing Officer Judy Hoffs. Monday on 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS), Peete talked about returning to '21 Jump Street,' but this time in the movie version, which stars Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill and Depp himself.

"I came back as Officer Judy Hoffs," she said. "I brought the big hair with me, the '80s hair with me."

Peete said she had fun filming for one day in New Orleans with Tatum and Hill, but that fans shouldn't expect too much screen time for Hoffs. "Don't blink 'cause you might miss me," she said. The movie version is expected to be released sometime next year.

Sara Gilbert Exposes Holly Robinson Peete on 'The Talk' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted May 18th 2011 8:30PM
Holly Robinson Peete on 'The Talk'Be careful what you dish out; it may come back to haunt you. Holly Robinson Peete found that out the hard way Wednesday on 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS) when she told an embarrassing story about her mother and a pair of "True Religion" jeans. But Sara Gilbert quickly got retribution for Peete's mom with a photograph of Peete in the backstage make-up chair.

"I saw my mother one time bend over in a pair of True Religion jeans," said Peete. "I saw a thong and the crack of her butt and I lost my religion." Peete's mother was in the audience.

Shortly after that, Gilbert announced that she had a photo to show the audience, which turned out to be Peete with a bit of thong and butt showing over the top of her jeans. Peete ran to her mom for a hug, and then to Gilbert to give her a spanking. Extra points for the leopard-skin print make-up chair.

Jack Hanna and Friends Stink Up the Joint on 'The Talk' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted May 16th 2011 5:15PM
A monkey on 'The Talk'Anything can happen when animal expert Jack Hanna shows off his friends in a television studio. Today on 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS), Hanna brought along a miniature horse, some armadillos and marmosets, among others. He explained the origin of the miniature horses (it was bred to pull carts in mines) and that armadillos used to carry leprosy (when leprosy was prevalent).

But he didn't explain something very important to Holly Robinson Peete, which was why the marmoset on her shoulder smelled a little funky. "Uh, Jack, he has a little interesting odor," said Peete with the marmoset perched on her shoulder. Hanna acknowledged the smell and tried to brush it off.

Julie Chen asked if the little critter had had an accident on Peete. "Is there something you want to tell me?" asked Peete. "Well, it's too late now," replied Hanna. Peete may lose a shirt, but hey, it's better than contracting leprosy.

Julie Chen Demonstrates Her Baby-Eating Technique on Holly Robinson Peete (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Apr 26th 2011 5:20PM
Julie Chen attempts to eat Holly Robinson Peete on 'The Talk'Julie Chen eats the ones she loves.

That was her admission today on 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS), when she said she once hurt her husband, CBS president and CEO Leslie Moonves, by accidentally biting him while playfully saying she wanted to "eat him up." The impulse has apparently gotten worse with the couple's 19-month-old son, Charlie, whom Chen also wants to eat up.

Chen is taking precautions, though. She puts her lips over her teeth before she noshes on Charlie and showed off that technique on Holly Robinson Peete. It was supposed to show how cute and harmless Chen's actions were, but Peete seemed afraid for her life (or face, at least), and regressed into the waiting arms of Sharon Osbourne when Chen was done.

That was awkward enough, but then Chen pantomimed smoking a cigarette with a satisfied grin. Honestly, we're not sure what to say about that.

'The Talk' Declares War on Tucked-in Shirts for Men (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Apr 14th 2011 4:55PM
The fashion police on 'The Talk'The fashion police are real, and they are in your home, on your TV, on 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS). Using their audience members as examples, Holly Robinson Peete, Julie Chen and Leah Remini laid down some basic rules of men's fashion, searching for men with tucked in shirts like Tommy Lee Jones searched for Harrison Ford in 'The Fugitive.' Except they were much more efficient.

The rules, as described by Robinson Peete, dictate that a man should never tuck in a button-down shirt, t-shirt, or jersey, leaving only leaves sweaters and upper body casts as garments untouched by the bylaws of tucking. Two men were brought onstage to have their shirts untucked. The only fashion victim left unscathed was a man in slacks and a tie, because he was dressed up.

Holly Robinson Peete
had no qualms about doing the untucking herself, but Leah Remini exercised an abundance of caution. "Untuck it, because I don't want to violate you," she said. If only the TSA were so kind.

Holly Robinson Peete and Leah Remini's Heart Karaoke Scares Kids ... and Heart (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Apr 11th 2011 6:30PM
Holly Robinson Peete and Leah Remini on 'The Talk'Whenever 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS) leaves the studio, it's always trouble. Today's edition featured video of Holly Robinson Peete and Leah Remini karaoke-ing Heart's 'Barracuda' and 'These Dreams' in front of a group of frightened children. Back in the studio, Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart offered their critique.

"You guys were scaring your kids," said Ann Wilson. Remini asked if the Wilson sisters felt threatened, then asked if they felt scared. Ann Wilson said yes, and we guess she meant more the latter than the former. Nancy was kind enough to say they had really captured "the ooh thing."

Sharon Osbourne, who is a bit familiar with music herself, said, "It sounded a bit like a cat." But she was probably just being kind.

Julie Chen and Holly Robinson Peete Handle the Showcase Showdown on 'The Price Is Right' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Apr 6th 2011 6:15PM
Julie Chen and Holly Robinson Peete on 'The Price Is Right''The Price Is Right' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS) got a couple of new spokesmodels today as Julie Chen and Holly Robinson Peete moonlighted from 'The Talk' to introduce the Showcase Showdown. It was a bit of network cross-promotion -- both shows are on CBS.

"Whenever Rodney and I get the chance, we head out for a weekend getaway to someplace romantic," said Peete, referring to her husband, a former NFL quarterback. Peete introduced prizes of a trip to the Napa Valley and an SUV. Chen introduced a shopping spree in New York City, complete with a personal shopping assistant, plus a BMW convertible. They ended together with the traditional "It's all yours if ... the price is right."

Don't get used to Chen and Peete on 'The Price Is Right.' 'The Talk' was renewed earlier this year, and the show is doing well. Then again, it never hurts to have your resume on file somewhere else.

Cote De Pablo Teaches 'The Talk' Hosts the Art of TV Fistfights (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Apr 5th 2011 1:00PM
Cote De Pablo teached 'The Talk' the art of the TV fistfightIn her role playing former Mossad agent Ziva David on 'NCIS,' Cote De Pablo does a lot of fighting, a skill she showed off on Monday's 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS). De Pablo taught the panel a few moves for a convincing TV fistfight, pairing off with Julie Chen while Sharon Osbourne and Holly Robinson Peete mimicked their movements.

Some of the essentials were keeping a "fighter's pose," making eye contact, and swinging so that it looks to the camera like you're making contact, but missing by enough to not accidentally smack your fight partner. Chen went a little over the top in reacting to De Pablo's punch. "It's very Cher," said De Pablo.

Not to be outdone, Peete and Osbourne went at it, and Osbourne took a fairly convincing dive to the floor. Peete hopped on top of her and continued the beating. Perhaps there's some underlying hostility on the set.

Smooth Blake Shelton Liked 'Roseanne,' But Loves Holly Robinson Peete (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Apr 1st 2011 5:55PM
Blake Shelton gives up his seat for Holly Robinson Peete on 'The Talk'Blake Shelton, country music star and one of the coaches on the new singing show 'The Voice,' which debuts April 26, said on 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS) that he was a fan of the show 'Roseanne' and that he may have something of a crush on Holly Robinson Peete. He tried to be a gentleman about it, but he still managed to ruffle the feathers of Sara Gilbert and Leah Remini.

"I was like, wait, where's the love?" said Gilbert. "He's just a fan of 'Roseanne,' but he's got a crush on Holly?" But Shelton was smooth, saying his thoughts about Gilbert were "way beyond" a crush. Peete herself had not been participating in the interview, but when she came out, Shelton sat on the floor and offered his seat to her.

Peete mentioned another show Shelton had not given an opinion on, 'King Of Queens,' starring Remini. He got in trouble with Remini for saying he mostly liked shows that were on when he was a kid, but then Peete took offense. "That makes me old as hell," she said. Shelton had an answer for even that, saying that Peete was just a teen on that show.

Shelton should now be considered one of the smoothest guys on television. If he can escape the ire of three-fifths of the hosts of 'The Talk,' he should have no problem with auditioners on 'The Voice.'

Holly Robinson Peete and Leah Remini Imitate Drunken Fan on 'The Talk' (VIDEO)

Holly Robinson Peete and Leah Remini Imitate Drunken Fan on 'The Talk'It's probably not wise to mock your fans, but it sure makes for entertaining television. Holly Robinson Peete and Leah Remini imitate a drunken fan of Remini's on 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated).

Peete said the fan was so inebriated that he incorrectly referred to Remini's show 'The King of Queens' and babbled nonsense phrases such as "cricker-croaker." Then, the man does a dance that Peete calls "The White Man's Overbite," which she's more than happy to recreate for the audience.

'The Talk' Crew Tears Up At Holly Robinson Peete's Proposal Clip (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Feb 11th 2011 10:00AM
Friday on 'The Talk' (Weekdays, Syndicated on CBS), Holly Robinson Peete brought tears to her co-hosts' eyes with a clip of her husband, former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete, proposing. He had surprised her on the set of 'Hangin' With Mr. Cooper," and got down on bended knee in front of the studio audience and the show's crew.

"They say a good woman is hard to find, and when you find one, you've got to hold on to her," said Rodney Peete at the time, addressing the audience before turning to Holly. "You're the best thing that ever happened to me. I love you with all of my heart."

The answer was obviously yes, and after the clip was over, Peete was tearing up with her co-hosts. Leah Remini and Sharon Osbourne both talked about how Peete was lovely and how tender the moment was, but they were caught off guard to see Sara Gilbert get all misty.

"She has emotions!" Remini shouted. "Screw Holly, this is news!"

Adam Lambert Picks Up Sara Gilbert in a Test of Manliness (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Feb 9th 2011 4:15PM
Sarah Gilbert, Adam Lambert, 'The Talk'Inspired by the new book 'The Art of Manliness,' Sara Gilbert and her co-hosts on 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS) quizzed Grammy Week guest Adam Lambert on his man skills. Gilbert asked if he had ever busted down a door or if he could predict weather like a frontiersman.

As it turns out, Lambert has in fact busted down a door, and though he can't predict the weather and has never changed a tire, he has changed a car battery.

Holly Robinson Peete then asked Lambert if he could do a fireman's carry ... of Sara Gilbert, specifically. "I probably could," he said -- and proceeded to do just that. He lifted Gilbert over his shoulder before giving her a twirl and setting her back down on the couch gently. Leah Remini was impressed and said he had the art of manliness down. She should know. She has the book.

Holly Robinson Peete Shows Off Daughter's Short Film Tribute to MLK (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Feb 7th 2011 4:55PM
Holly Robinson Peete's daughter Ryan makes a movie on 'The Talk'Holly Robinson Peete's 13-year-old daughter Ryan is a budding filmmaker. Today on 'The Talk' (Weekdays, Syndicated on CBS), Peete showed off one of Ryan's creations, a short film tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. and his "I Have A Dream" speech in honor of Black History Month.

The film featured King's words written on scraps of paper and spoken by Ryan and her brothers with stirring music in the background. It ended with a hand waving over the words "43 years since Killed," which then turned into "I have a dream," and turned over to read "Lincoln Memorial" and "August 28, 1963."

When the camera came back to an obviously proud Peete, she was tearing up at her daughter's work. We can't blame her.
