Two wax-oriented people pass away
It's odd enough that both of these people died just two days apart, but also right around Halloween. Oooooooo.
Spoony Singh, who founded the famous Hollywood Wax Museum in 1965, died Wednesday of congestive heart failure at the age of 83. And two days later, on Friday, actress Phyllis Kirk died of a post-cerebral aneurysm at 79. Kirk played the woman terrorized by Vincent Price in the classic 1953 horror flick House of Wax, which I'm sure will be shown several times this week for Halloween. On television, Kirk played Nora on The Thin Man.
House of Wax is one of the many 3-D movies from the 50s. I actually went to see it (no, not in 1953, in the 80s, when it was re-released). I wore the glasses and everything. It's actually pretty good in 3-D, unlike a lot of movies. It was needlessly remade a couple of years ago, with Paris Hilton.
