Lake Bell On 'How to Make It'-'Entourage' Comparisons & Her 'New Girl' Cameo (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 13th 2011 4:30PM
When 'How to Make It in America' began, Lake Bell's character Rachel was in the midst of a break-up with Ben (Bryan Greenberg). In Season 2, she seems to be on the verge of hooking up with Kid Cudi's character Dom. Bell talked with 'Access Hollywood Live' (weekdays, syndicated on NBC) about what's in store for her character this season, the constant comparisons 'How to Make It' gets to 'Entourage,' and also previewed her upcoming cameo on Fox's 'New Girl.'

Billy Bush started out by asking if 'How to Make It' is the new 'Entourage.' Bell had undoubtedly heard the comparisons before. "I think it's inherently a different show than 'Entourage,' but it does satiate that cool, young hip thing ... a group of friends kind of figuring things out," she said.

Ben Finds Potential New Business Partner on 'How to Make it in America' (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Oct 10th 2011 8:45AM
'How to Make it in America'Sometimes Ben and Cam seem so clueless as they search for that elusive fashion success on 'How To Make It In America' (Sun., 10:30PM ET on HBO).

This week the guys were trying to get on the good side of a buyer for major department store and a flustered Ben (Bryan Greenberg) managed to leave a duffel bag full of hoodies at socialite Nancy's (Gina Gershon) brownstone.

When he goes back to retrieve the duffel bag he's greeted by Nancy in full-on flirting mode. Luckily for him, she's also taken a shine to his clothes, but although Ben makes his position clear we're pretty sure Nancy's aiming to be a lot more than just his business partner.

Ben Has a Bad Reaction and Freaks on 'How to Make It in America' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 3rd 2011 6:45AM
'How to Make it In America' season premiereStill trying to make a splash on the New York fashion scene, Ben and Cam stopped off to invite the Neanderthals to their one-night event to promote their new hoodies on the season premiere of 'How to Make It in America' (Sun., 10:30PM ET on HBO). Unfortunately, thanks to Ben partaking with them, the boys were a little late arriving themselves.

Ben had a very bad reaction to whatever he smoked, leading him to freak out on the subway. At one point he thought they were underwater, and then later he actually dunked his head in a fountain to try and straighten himself up. As a show of solidarity, and because Ben begged him to, Cam dunked himself as well.

'How to Make It in America' Stars Bryan Greenberg & Victor Rasuk On Hustling, Maturation and Conflict in Season 2

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 1st 2011 10:00AM
'How to Make It in America' is another aspirational buddy comedy from HBO that's drawn relentless, convenient comparisons to 'Entourage.' But the story 'How to Make It' tells is much better suited to the vibe of these economic times.

Following a diverse crew of young, broke and cool friends trying to get by and ahead in New York, 'How to Make It' resonates with a generation of hipsters, even after an uneven first season. Like many of its characters, the show does some growing up in Season 2.

I got a chance to talk with 'How to Make It' stars Bryan Greenberg and Victor Rasuk about where Ben, Cam and CRISP are headed in the new season (premieres Thurs., Oct. 2, 10:30PM on HBO). They described the maturation of their company and characters, and foreshadowed some conflict that arises between them after CRISP's first taste of success.

Review: 'How to Make It in America' Brings a Scruffy Energy to Season 2

by Maureen Ryan, posted Sep 30th 2011 1:30PM
Given how many new and returning shows are coming down the pike right now, I'm not sure why HBO, in its apparently finite wisdom, decided that now would be a good time to bring back 'How to Make It in America' (10:30PM ET Sunday, HBO).

It would be a shame if the scruffy saga of two would-be streetwear magnates got lost in the fall shuffle, but then, HBO seems to be content these days to let its generally low-key half-hour programs find their own audiences and perk along under their own steam.

Having said that, 'Bored to Death,' which also has a nicely detailed and lived-in New York atmosphere, would be a better 'HTMIIA' companion than the dour 'Hung.' Certainly the best thing about 'HTMIIA' -- aside from its terrific opening credits -- is the authentic feel of the lives of strivers who wouldn't dream of living anywhere else.

'How to Make It In America' Season 2 Trailer: Hustlin', Hijinks & Hook-Ups (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Jul 26th 2011 4:15PM
Fear not, fans of HBO-produced half-hour comedies centered around a group of male friends trying to come up in the world. Just as 'Entourage' will be finishing its eight season run, Season 2 of 'How to Make It in America' is poised to pick up the slack.

In a new 1-minute trailer -- a fast-paced montage -- we can spot a few new plot developments emerging. It starts off with Ben and Cam (Victor Rasuk) re-entering the country through airport customs, which could mean they took a business trip to Japan, where Crisp NYC gained a foothold last season. It also looks like rapper Kid Cudi might have an expanded role this year; at one point his character kisses Rachel (Lake Bell), Ben's (Bryan Greenberg) on-again and off-again ex-girlfriend, which is bound to cause some conflict. It looks like they open a Crisp storefront, and other than that, there's a lot of clinking beer bottles, launching of hair-brained schemes and parties filled with models.

Check out the trailer after the jump. 'How to Make It in America' returns to HBO this fall.

First Look: HBO's 'Luck,' New Seasons of 'Boardwalk Empire,' 'Hung' & 'How to Make It In America'

by Chris Harnick, posted Jun 27th 2011 1:00PM
Dustin Hoffman, LuckWhat can you expect from HBO's new horse-racing drama, 'Luck'? Well, from the looks of this teaser, lots of horses (duh!), Dustin Hoffman being kind of scary and old dudes with gambling drama.

The new series is still in production, but we're ready to see more!

HBO has also unveiled new teasers for 'Boardwalk Empire,' 'Hung' and 'How to Make It In America.' Warning, there's lots of nudity in the 'Hung' trailer. There's also a lot of 'Justified' MVP Margo Martindale, but those two things aren't necessarily related. The 'Boardwalk' trailer is packed with drama, naturally, and a new threat: the KKK.

Premiere dates for all four shows have not been set. Check out the videos below.

HBO Renews 'How to Make It in America'

by Andrew Scott, posted Apr 21st 2010 4:40PM
How to Make It in AmericaIt looks like HBO will 'Make It' after all -- at least for another season.

According to the Live Feed, HBO has given a season 2 order to the half-hour freshman comedy 'How to Make It in America,' with all-new episodes set to air sometime next summer.

The news, while not altogether shocking, comes as a bit of a surprise, considering the series, which premiered in February, underwhelmed in the ratings; season 1 reportedly averaged under one million viewers total. The show was also said to be in limbo a few weeks ago, according to the LA Times.

Wondering 'How to Make It in America'? Ask These Guys

by Mike Harvkey, posted Feb 10th 2010 12:00PM
On the new HBO series 'How to Make it in America,' Victor Rasuk and Bryan Greenberg play Cam and Ben, two best buds living the struggler's life in and around New York City. Ben's an artist. By day he hocks designer denim at Barneys; by night he paints skateboards, canvasses or whatever else he can get his hands on. He's as familiar with the downtown late night art scene as he is with the Upper East Side Jewish community his parents belong to. He's the straight man to Cam's exuberant hustler-from-the-hood. Cam's the kind of New York kid who's always on the lookout for the next score and is willing to ride his bike all the way to the Bronx in order to find it.

'How to Make it' was created by Ian Edelman and came to HBO via Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levison's Leverage production company, which is responsible for 'Entourage' and 'In Treatment.'

AOL TV recently caught up with Greenberg and Rasuk, two of the most animated guys you'll ever meet, to get their advice on B-Ball, Brooklyn and the American Dream.
