CBS Joins iPad Parade With Content and Player
by Brad Trechak, posted Apr 3rd 2010 2:01PM
The iPad was officially released today and joining in on what will undoubtedly be a parade of network releases, CBS issued a press release yesterday announcing the launch of their very own iPad app. From it, users will be able to watch video and audio content from CBS television and radio. This follows in the steps of ABC releasing their own iPad app.Of course, CBS is mostly offering clips from their shows. Having full episodes available would diminish potential profit from iTunes downloads. Additional CBS-related iBooks and apps will also be available in iTunes.
If I had my druthers, all these network apps would offer live, streaming content on the iPad (or iPhone or iPod Touch). After all, with a high-def antenna they're available for free anyway unlike cable networks like Comedy Central or SyFy. To avoid clogging the networks of AT&T, the apps could be made to stream on WiFi only.
