Isaiah Washington not returning to Grey's Anatomy; he's "mad as hell"
by Joel Keller, posted Jun 8th 2007 8:24AM
It's official: Isaiah Washington isn't coming back to Grey's Anatomy.According to E! Online (who confirmed the story with ABC Television Studios), Washington, who portrayed Dr. Preston Burke, was informed yesterday that his contract will not be renewed. The actor's statement was succinct: "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore."
Recall that Washington caused an uproar around the Grey's set and in the entertainment industry when he called co-star T.R. Knight a "faggot" late last year. Knight publicly came out of the closet after the incident, and Washington had to spend the rest of the season in damage control, going to "rehab" and meeting with representatives from GLAAD, among other forms of restitution. Apparently that incident, combined with an overall difficult attitude, sealed Washington's fate.

Isaiah Washington apologizes again for slur against T.R. Knight; ABC "greatly dismayed"
by Joel Keller, posted Jan 19th 2007 2:13PM
Grey's Anatomy star Isaiah Washington re-opened an old wound at the Golden Globes on Monday night, denying he ever called T.R. Knight a "faggot" in a highly-publicized incident last fall. Since then, Knight confirmed that Washington used the slur against him and co-star Katherine Heigl basically told the press that Washington should just shut his piehole. It's a-gettin' ugly out there, so Washington and ABC have decided to tell the press that they're all working on a solution to this. The network said that they are "greatly dismayed" at Washington's use of the slur yet again and that "his actions are unacceptable and are being addressed." What "being addressed" means is anyone's guess. Homophobe rehab, perhaps?
Harold Reynolds sues ESPN over firing
by Joel Keller, posted Nov 1st 2006 11:44AM
Over the summer, if you recall, ESPN fired baseball analyst Harold Reynolds for undisclosed reasons. Well, "undisclosed" was the official reason and what they told Reynolds. In fact, word had leaked out that Reynolds was fired after one too many incidents of sexual harassment, and Reynolds himself felt that was the case, even though he never got a chance to defend himself.Because of this, Reynolds is suing ESPN for wrongful terminataion and breach of contract. In the lawsuit, Reynolds and his lawyers state that he was fired over a work-related dinner incident with a female intern. Reynolds felt he just gave her an "innocuous hug," and that the intern didn't express discomfort. But the company felt otherwise.
