Hulu is almost the online video site I've been waiting for for years. It features a broad selection of content that's actually worth watching from major networks and studios. The video quality is pretty good. If the company could sign a few more partners and start posting entire seasons, not just a few episodes at a time, I'd be in heaven.

But that's because I live in the US. For TV fans in any other part of the world, Hulu is a non-starter. When you try to visit the page from another country you're typically greeted with an error message. But this morning Emily Turretini of WatchingTV Online discovered that she got a new message telling her that Hulu is working on "legal and business" deals to bring the service to other countries.

Users can also sign up to receive an email alert as soon as Hulu is available in their area.

Hulu is broadening its private beta a bit by sending out a few thousand more invitations to people who have requested them. Unlike many other private betas, current users do not get to send out invitations, so you'll just have to wait for Hulu to send you an email if you haven't received one yet.

The online video site is a partnership between NBC and News Corp and includes video content from both TV channels including NBC, FOX, USA Network, and the SCI FI Channel. There's also a tiny little selection of movies available.

So far, the service has only been available within the US. If you try to watch a Hulu video, even one that's been embedded in a non-Hulu website fro outside of the US you'll get an error message.

In a blog posting, Hulu CEO Jason Kilar writes that this is something the organization plans to address. First, Hulu will have to get the rights to distribute content in every country, which he says will take time. Eventually, he says the goal is to make content available no matter where you are.

Of course, since Hulu isn't a public service, we're guessing FOX and News Corp are also going to want to ensure they can line up advertisers for each country that will have access to Hulu as well.

Drew Carey is hosting a new show on The Travel Channel called Drew Carey's Sporting Adventures. The first episode aired last month (did anybody see it?). The hook for the show is that the comedian travels the world to teach us about international sports, beer and fight songs. It also looks like he gained back that weight he lost.

After seeing a promo for the show, I went to the Travel Channel's fan website to learn more about it. I discovered links to video, blogs and photos but none of them actually feature Drew Carey. The blog is from one of the producers and the behind-the-scenes video is voiced and edited by a cameraman. WTF? Where's Drew? Phoning it in. That's where he is.
