'Happy Endings' Slips in a '24' Easter Egg for Star Elisha Cuthbert (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 21st 2011 4:22AM
Elisha Cuthbert, 'Happy Endings' - 'Your Couples Friends & Neighbors'As 'Happy Endings' (Wed., 10PM ET on ABC) settled into its regular time-slot, the show threw a little nod out to the television series that brought star Elisha Cuthbert into the spotlight.

Still reeling after running out on her own wedding, Alex (Cuthbert) isn't ready to date. That's bad news for Penny (Casey Wilson from 'SNL'), because the blind double-date she set up just walked in the door. Doing some quick thinking, Penny tries to convince Alex that she is indeed ready to date.

When her first metaphor about a cougar trying to eat Alex doesn't work, she tries another approach.

'24' Producer Howard Gordon on His Three New TV Series, First Novel and the '24' Movie

by Kim Potts, posted Feb 23rd 2011 3:00PM
Howard Gordon 24If '24' producer Howard Gordon isn't the hardest working man in show business these days, we don't want to see the schedule of the guy who is.

While finishing the final season of the hit Kiefer Sutherland drama last year, Gordon also penned his first novel, 'Gideon's War,' a fantastic political and military thriller that pits Gideon Davis, a pacifist negotiator (yes, the anti-Jack Bauer), against his brother, a special ops agent who's gone rogue and taken a multi-million dollar oil rig hostage.

On his current slate, Gordon is completing a Showtime drama pilot -- 'Homeland' -- starring Claire Danes and Damian Lewis, about a CIA officer (Danes), who suspects a Marine sergeant (Lewis) is planning a terrorist attack when he resurfaces after going missing in Iraq for several years.

'24': The 24 Best Quotes

by Kim Potts, posted May 23rd 2010 5:00PM

Let's be honest: Jack Bauer is a man of action, and because of that, sometimes few words are necessary. Or, if Jack has you in the midst of one of his special brands of Jack torture, even possible. But occasionally, even the man of action, and those around him, know that it's important to use words, so, from eight seasons of '24,' here's 24 of the best quotes:

Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), introducing the action in season 1: "I'm Federal Agent Jack Bauer, and today is the longest day of my life."
Day 1, '12:00AM-1:00AM'

'24': The Top Five Heroes

by Kim Potts, posted May 17th 2010 11:00PM
It's just a week until Jack Bauer, '24's' all-time greatest hero, bids TV land adieu, and, call us crazy, we're actually going to feel a little less safe in the real world without our fictional good guy to wrangle the baddies. But Jack, of course, hasn't handled the villains alone, so here's our list of five other heroic types who've given Mr. Bauer an assist or two along the way.

Tony Almeida
(Played by Carlos Bernard)
'24' seasons: 1-5, 7
Why he's one of the good guys: Yes, ultimately, when last we saw him, Tony had definitely taken a turn for the evil (really Tony, killing poor Larry Moss?). But his decision to walk on the wicked side aside, for most of his years on the show, he was Jack's right-hand-man in heroic adventures. He, like Jack, was betrayed by the naughty Nina Meyers, but still managed to defend Jack and save Teri during season 1 (despite the fact that he wasn't, at that point, Jack's biggest fan).

Jack Shoots Dana on '24' (VIDEO)

by Chris Harnick, posted May 4th 2010 9:35AM
24 Jack BauerThat Dana Walsh (Katee Sackhoff) sure is a slippery one. She got Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) to keep her alive long enough on '24' (Mon., 9PM ET on FOX) so she could gather what she needed to try and kill him.

"That file is the only thing keeping me alive," Dana said. "No, right now I'm the only thing keeping you alive," Jack responded. And he was right. After Dana got to the safety deposit box she tried to kill Jack, but he was having none of that.

'24' - '11:00AM - 12:00PM' Recap

24 episode recap
(S08E10) Jack hit the streets last night on a bloody mission to expose everyone responsible for his pain. Was Dana was right when she said that Jack wouldn't stop until he's hunted down and killed everyone involved in the conspiracy, 'Kill Bill' style? I'm starting to think the answer is yes.

To echo Jane's review from last week ... I'm really starting to enjoy '24' again. This episode and last week's ep were quite awesome. I didn't like seeing Renee die a few weeks back, but her death seems to have given Jack and the show a much clearer focus and a sharper edge.

I'm loving watching Charles Logan pull the president's strings like a weasely little puppeteer. Can we all just agree that Prez Taylor has completely lost her marbles? I think we all knew she was in for a big fall once she got in bed with Logan. Ethan Kanin had the right idea getting out while the gettin' was good. Torture, lies, terrorism. He doesn't want to be connected to that awful mess.

Jane here, filling in for Mike. I was actually reviewing '24' at the beginning of the season, but found the storyline so preposterous that Mike graciously agreed to take it off my hands.

Somewhere between then and now, the show has gotten much better -- more interesting and less ridiculous. In fact, last week, my nephew emailed me and said the show's gotten better lately, especially with the return of Charles Logan. I wholeheartedly agree. Not that Logan's any less of a weasel, but that's what I love about him.

A Sniper Bullet Takes Out Renee on '24' (VIDEO)

24, Renee Walker DiesOh, Jack! Things really haven't changed that much in the eight years days we've known you on '24' (Mon., 9PM ET on Fox). People you're close to are still dying in your arms. You and Renee finally got together and wham! Sniper bullet through the window.

That's just not right, Jack. And we know you'll understand when we say you should think twice about spending too much time with your daughter and granddaughter. We like them, Jack.

renee walker, season 8, 24
(S08E17) Hour 17 began on a downbeat and ended with a major tragedy. At least Chloe was finally recognized as the CTU's best and brightest rock star. That was a sweet moment in a sluggish episode full of predictable developments and a senseless "shocking" ending.

Annie Wersching on Jack and Renee's Romance and the End of '24'

by Mike Moody, posted Apr 12th 2010 2:00PM
annie wersching 24 renee walker'24' is almost over, but Jack Bauer is about to face one of his toughest challenges yet -- trying to start a romantic relationship with Annie Wersching's Renee Walker.

Jack and Renee take a well-deserved break from kicking bad guy ass to explore their romantic feelings for each other on tonight's much-anticipated episode.

I recently got a chance to talk with Wersching, who plays Renee on '24,' about tonight's big ep. We also talked about the fan reaction to her character and where Renee might be headed after the show ends. Wersching stayed mum about whether things would actually "work out" between Jack and Renee, but she promised that the show's final hours would deliver some surprising twists and turns that no one, not even Jack Bauer, could see coming.

24 7am - 8 am recao
(S08E16) The second hour of Fox's '24' double-bill kicked off with the hunt for the CTU mole. This was probably the stronger episode of the two that aired last night, considering the shocking development that ended the hour. This season still feels like its rehashing old plots and twists, but a few of tonight's scenes and images will probably be burned into the memories of fans for some time to come.

'24' - '5:00 AM - 6:00 AM' Recap
(S08E15) The sun finally came up over Jack Bauer and crew last night on '24'. And with it came the first of two exciting if ultimately empty-feeling hours of the veteran real-time drama.

I use the word empty to describe these episodes because I'm no longer very invested in the story. '24' lost me a few weeks ago, even before Dana so inelegantly stuffed Stephen Root's dead body behind a CTU wall panel. Like I typed last week, the twists feel cheap, the stakes arbitrary, and the real-time gimmick has gotten stale.

At this point I'm mostly watching for the tightly edited procedural elements, the action scenes, and Kiefer Sutherland's sturdy performance. That stuff is solid -- so solid that it almost makes up for the lack of compelling drama and the unbelievable plot developments this season.

Head after the jump for spoilers, and remember to check out our recap of the next hour when it goes live.
