Jack Black, Owen Wilson and Steve Martin Balance Their Time With Leno (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 7th 2011 2:45AM
Jack Black, Owen Wilson & Steve Martin, 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno'Owen Wilson, Steve Martin and Jack Black were all guests on 'The Tonight Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC) at the same time to promote their upcoming comedy, 'The Big Year.' But when you have three big stars sharing face-time on the same late nigh talk show, how do you determine who sits next to Jay Leno?

According to the guys, they hashed this out with their lawyers for two weeks prior to this appearance. While Owen Wilson was telling a story about working with Martin, an alarm went off and the three men got up and shifted seats. Leno had no idea what was happening, but it was their way to ensure equal time in the chair. Isn't fairness great?!

Casey Abrams and Jack Black Like 'Fat Bottomed Girls' on 'American Idol' Finale (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 26th 2011 1:27AM
Jack Black & Casey Abrams, 'American Idol' finaleThroughout his time on 'American Idol' (Wed., 8PM ET on FOX) this season, Casey Abrams was always memorable and always a little ... unique. With his quirky sense of humor and no-holds-barred attitude on stage, there was really only one performer that could match him in personality and stage presence.

A lot of people don't realize that Jack Black first came into the public eye as one half of musical duo Tenacious D. The pair tackled Queen's 'Fat Bottomed Girls,' and it was as silly and fun as you'd expect.

We don't know if Abrams has any acting ability, but if he can bring the same kind of charisma and charm he brought to the stage every week, we could see him making fun spot appearances in comedy films. The performance also made us wish we could get a new Tenacious D project before too long.

Jack Black Talks Kung Fu And Tai Chi on 'The Late Late Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 24th 2011 5:05AM
Jack Black, 'The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson'Jack Black explained on 'The Late Late Show' (Weeknights, 12:35AM ET on CBS) that Kung Fu and Tai Chi are actually the same thing. But perhaps Craig Ferguson explained it best.

In talking about the groups of people who perform Tai Chi in the park, Ferguson said, "So you're telling me these people can kick my a** ... slowly?"

But one of the real strengths is how deceptively harmless a Kung Fu master can look. You have no idea what they're capable of until it's too late. Even knowing his skills, Ferguson still found himself sizing up Jet Li years ago.

"I wonder how many guys my size looked at him and thought, 'I could kick his a**,' just before they went to [the] hospital," he mused.

Jack Black Was Too Scared to Cuddle a Baby Panda (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 20th 2011 4:06AM
Jack Black, 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno'It was confession time on 'The Tonight Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC) for Jack Black. The voice of 'Kung Fu Panda' had a promotional opportunity to hold a baby panda bear.

"I've heard stories that if you hold a baby panda in your arms that you achieve inner peace," he said. "So I was pretty psyched about it."

Unfortunately, the veterinarian that was there to help with this seemed intent on freaking him out as much as she possibly could. First she told him simply that they don't like to be touched. Then she showed him a scar on her face.

"Do you see this scar here? They have claws, very sharp claws. They're bears!" she said, according to Black.

The 2011 Kids' Choice Awards: A Primer

by Rich Keller, posted Apr 2nd 2011 9:00AM
Jack Black, Kids Choice AwardsTonight marks the 24th annual Kids' Choice Awards on Nickelodeon. As usual, it's going to be packed with movie, television and music luminaries you normally wouldn't think would appear on a kids' award show. But that's the exciting thing about it -- it gives kids a chance to see people up-close who normally don't interact with people their age.

Here's what to look forward to -- in addition to several important Hollywood people getting slimed -- when the award show airs at 8PM ET on Nick.

The Host: Jack Black will be officiating this year's ceremony; the third time the 41-year-old actor has hosted the show since 2006. Jack really gets into his duties with his usual amped-up, kid-at-heart attitude, as seen in this clip from his "press conference" about the awards show.

Jack Black Sings His Own Walk-On Music on 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 22nd 2010 4:18AM
Jack Black, 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon'Many fans of Jack Black's film work, especially younger ones, may be unfamiliar with his roots in music. The actor decided to remind them, thanks to a suggestion from 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon' (Weeknights, 12:35AM on NBC) bandleader Questlove. And what better way to showcase his abilities than with Dio's 1983 rock anthem, "Holy Diver."

Black was in fine form, running around the stage and into the audience, and even climbing atop Fallon's desk for his grand finale. While his love of comedy is readily apparent in everything he does, it was nice to see him embracing his musical side.

Black rose to fame as part of the musical comedy duo Tenacious D, alongside lead guitarist Kyle Gass. He'd had small roles on television and in film prior to the success of Tenacious D, but it was his growing fame as a musician that led to the leading roles he later achieved, and all of his success now.

It's Jack Black vs. Michael Bublé, in a Battle for Best Singer of All Time (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Dec 15th 2010 3:00AM
It's Jack Black vs. Michael Bublé, in a Battle for Best Singer of All Time"You guys know each other?" Jay Leno said. Yeah, they've met before. And they've got a bit of a rivalry going on. And so, on the new 'Tonight Show' (11:35PM ET on NBC), the two legendary singers of our generation -- Grammy Award-winner Michael Bublé and, um, Jack Black -- squared off in a battle for supremacy.

The two vocalists recalled a previous "sing-off" encounter that they had on an Australian talk show. Next, inspired by Black's performance in 'School of Rock,' the pair tried to determine who was more "hardcore" -- singing-wise, that is. Because really, you're not hardcore ... unless you live hardcore.

So, who would be the winner? Well, to be honest, they were both a little off-key, as Bublé screeched awkwardly in an effort to imitate Jack's, um, soaring vocal abilities.

Justin Bieber Busts Out His Jack Black Impression (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Dec 13th 2010 12:40AM
Justin Bieber Busts Out His Jack Black ImpressionSixteen-year-old pop sensation Justin Bieber appeared on 'The Graham Norton Show' (Sat., 10PM ET on BBC America). But the young singer had a cold, and so he was unable to perform. That's some bad news. We'll take a short pause to allow you to mourn this loss. Short pause in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 ...

... Excellent. And we're back! Plus, we have some good news which will help balance out the bad tidings. Although "J. Bieb" (as we call him) was too sick to sing, he had enough strength to bust out his impression of fellow guest Jack Black, which went a little something like this: "BEEEH DIKAA-DIK-A, NAH, BEH NA-BUUUH-NEYUUH!!"

Considering that Justin was pretty hoarse, it was pretty good! Mr. Black even gave Bieber a high-five when he was done -- then immediately requested some "Purell®" to wash his hands, so that he wouldn't catch J. Bieb's cold. ... Wow. We know some 12-year-old girls who would never wash their hands again, if they ever got to high-five Justin Bieber. Still, safety first, we guess ...

News Roundup: Bristol Palin Hits Bar With 'Dancing' Partner Mark Ballas, Snooki Writes a Novel and More

by Jean Bentley, posted Sep 29th 2010 6:30PM
Bristol PalinWhat happens in Vegas might stay there, but what happens in Alaska won't -- at least if your name is Bristol Palin.

According to E! Online, Alaskan authorities are investigating Palin's bar trip with 'Dancing With the Stars' partner Mark Ballas. Why? Because Palin is 19 years old and Alaska law states that people under the age of 21 must be accompanied by an of-age spouse or legal guardian. As far as we know, Ballas is neither her spouse nor her guardian.

Authorities aren't commenting on the investigation into the teen mom's bar trip, though Palin was not observed drinking -- only eating nachos.
