When you make the highest grossing movie of all time, you've got to imagine that expectations for a sequel must be fairly high, and for a perfectionist like James Cameron, only the best will do.

'Avatar' star Sam Worthington visited 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno' (weeknights, 11.35PM ET on NBC) Thursday night, and he gave a few, exceedingly vague hints about where Cameron's at in preparing the sequel.

The Simpsons are television's favorite yellow-hued dysfunctional family. But what if, instead of being yellow, 'The Simpsons' turned a bit ... blue? On the new episode (Sun., 8PM ET on Fox), the show takes its now-familiar "couch gag" to unfamiliar territory: The land of the Na'vi.

After entering an "avatar machine," the Simpson family become blue-skinned "avatars" of themselves -- just like in that movie ... Um, now what's that movie called again? It's on the tip of our tongues. Oh, well. ... We'll think of it in a second.

At any rate, to return to their "homeland" (i.e., their familiar TV/living room set-up), Bart, Lisa, Homer, Marge and Maggie must brave the dangers of the strange new land. One of them must master a flying couch, and "connect" with it to get a ride back "home."

Say what you want about remakes and reboots, sometimes they're just destined to be amazing. Take, for example, today's news that James Cameron is adapting his 1994 Arnold Schwarzenegger-starring movie, 'True Lies,' for the small screen. Could this be anything short of awesome?

Deadline Hollywood reports that the undisputed king of the box office is turning his focus toward primetime television. Cameron dabbled in TV with the two-season drama 'Dark Angel,' but is looking to return to the medium with an adaptation of his hit 1994 movie.

James Cameron is the director of 'Avatar' -- the highest-grossing film in history. But Mr. Cameron hasn't always had a smooth road to movie success. On '60 Minutes' (Sun., 7PM ET on CBS), Cameron discusses his early years in the industry -- including the time a studio tried to cast O.J. Simpson in one of his movies.

After being fired from his first directing job -- on the notorious flop 'Piranha II' -- Cameron had a vision for a new film. This vision literally came to him in a dream; a dream about a skeletal robot rising from a fire. In the end, the film became 'The Terminator,' his first blockbuster success.

But even though Arnold Schwarzenegger became famous in the role, he wasn't the studio's first choice. An executive wanted to cast O.J. Simpson as the killer cyborg from the future. Cameron was completely against the idea, thinking that O.J. would be totally miscast as a killer. Of course, this all took place years before the murders that would make Simpson infamous.

Appearing on 'Larry King Live' (weeknights, 9PM ET on CNN), director James Cameron addressed the recent quote that's given him a lot of flak.

When he said BP's efforts to curb the oil leak were done by "morons [who] don't know what they're doing," it was a "classic case of out of context," he told Larry King. "The other shoe dropping on the story was, then I got into it and I talked to petroleum engineers and we started this study group ... They're not morons."

Once Cameron delved into the issue, ahead of a brainstorming session he held at the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington D.C., he realized, "There are good engineers out there ... working very hard. It's a very, very complex problem to solve." The director has underwater-robotics expertise gleaned from making 'The Abyss,' 'Titanic' and several deep-sea documentaries.

One of the weirder entertainment feuds, one even weirder than the famed Nipsey Russell-Herve Villechaize knife fight of 1976, has emerged in our midst.

A few days ago, Oscar winning director James Cameron got extra chatty with a Hollywood Reporter, er, reporter and let loose on anti-global warming zealots and Glenn Beck (and no, that last sentence wasn't meant to be redundant). It got so heated and ridiculous that it made me wish 'Celebrity Deathmatch' was still on the air and not in the claymation format.

Beck, of course, heard the comment in which Cameron claimed Beck had once referred to him as the "Antichrist". Beck dove into his archives, found the rather un-Christian reference he made towards the 'Avatar' director and post a full response to Mr. Cameron on his Wednesday show.



Of course, that's not the whole story.

'Avatar' director James Cameron is currently in a war of words with Glenn Beck, the controversial Fox News pundit. The feud gets a little complicated, but we'll break it down for you.

Three years ago, Beck called Cameron "the Antichrist" for making 'Titanic.' (Apparently, Beck is not a big fan of the film, or of the Celine Dion song that accompanied it.) Cameron recently heard about the remark and replied by calling Beck -- and we quote -- "A f--king a--hole."

Now, on 'The Glenn Beck Program' (weekdays, 5PM ET on FNC), Beck strikes back. While wearing 3D glasses, he mocked Cameron and 'Avatar,' saying that Cameron made a billion dollars off of a "Smurf-murdering movie,' and adding: "It's time to step away from the CGI, just for a minute, Jim."

Considering that Glenn Beck is involved, we're guessing that this feud is only just starting to heat up. Watch the entire clip to get the full story!

Actually, that's putting it mildly. James Cameron probably has a higher opinion of mosquito bites because as Ned Flanders once put it, "They sure are fun to scratch."

Cameron had a sit down with Hollywood Reporter reporter Alex Ben Block for the DVD release of his Oscar nominated film 'Avatar' and the two somehow got to talking about global warming and the pandemic of people on both sides of the aisles.

This segued into that all-important political topic of Glenn Beck, prompting Cameron to call him a "[BLANK]ing [BLANK]hole," only he didn't say "blank." Use your imagination.

As the folks at Moviefone.com point out, blue is the hot color for movies these days, especially if your name is James Cameron. Well, it's not going to be a sequel to 'Avatar' or another Cameron pic or even an updating of 'The Blue Lagoon,' but Neil Patrick Harris has agreed to be in 'Smurfs: The Movie.' (Not to be confused with 'Smurfs: The Opera.')

Actually, Neil will be all voice for the role. Sony's concept for the big screen version of 'Smurfs,' the popular '80s Saturday morning cartoon series, is live action mixed with animation, under the direction of 'Beverly Hills Chihuahua' auteur Raja Gosnell.

Exactly which of the smurfs Neil will play remains shrouded in mystery. I suspect he's getting his pick, as long as it's not Papa Smurf. That role's already been claimed by Jonathan Winters.

Should 'Avatar' win big at this year's Academy Awards, director James Cameron promises to make an even bigger spectacle than he did after declaring himself "king of the world" when 'Titanic' won for Best Picture in 1998, he said on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated).

"I can make a bigger jackass of myself," Cameron said. "That's what I love about the Academy Awards, a great opportunity to make a damn fool of yourself in front of a billion people."

With 'Avatar' poised to win an Oscar – or two or three – director James Cameron talked about the possibility of a sequel on 'Larry King Live' (weeknights, 6PM ET on CNN).

"I haven't started thinking about the story yet, although I have a general story arc for it," said Cameron. "But we have had some technical discussion of how we would do it."

Not only that, but we got to see how Larry King would look as a blue Na'vi. He's a little demon-ish, and now that we think about it, he'd probably pass for Lorne's slightly off-species second cousin on 'Angel.' Just think about it. That's all we ask.

'Laser Cats,' a recurring 'SNL' digital short series, got the James Cameron treatment when the director lent his talents to the fifth episode of the low-rent schlockfest.

This installment of the sci-fi send-up finds Sigourney Weaver spoofing her roles in 'Aliens' and 'Avatar' and battling mutant felines who shoot lasers from their mouths. Think aliens with acid for blood are scary? Kitties bursting out of stomachs are arguably worse.

(S35E12) First of all, Sigourney Weaver looks incredible. Believe it or not, she turns 61 this year, so that's something to think about as we slowly weep into our young but round, Cheetos-stained fingers. Secondly, Weaver managed to play a variety of characters that explored a wide range of wackiness, all without humiliating herself (it was a dangerous moment during that "Fifty and Freaky" sketch but we all knew Weaver's still a classy lady).

The writing was pretty consistent and suited Weaver well, and it was fun to see her do so many goofy things. It's not often Saturday Night Live brings in someone that of her status. Let's be honest here.

FX has scored a coup, acquiring the basic cable rights to 'Avatar,' which will begin airing in the middle of 2012, according to Variety.

As our continual Moviefone coverage will attest, 'Avatar' has passed 'Lord of the Rings: Return of the King' to become the second-highest grossing feature of all time, right behind Cameron's other hit, 'Titanic.'

Though the FX terms have not been revealed, it appears that the network will shell out about $25-$30 million for the rights. This would be a higher-priced deal than other recent purchases, owing to 'Avatar"s global gross and, of course, competition from rival networks.
