community christmas episode If you wanted to give your DVR a break during the holiday season, it'll have to wait.

The first few weeks of December are jam-packed with finales, specials and mid-season cliffhangers, and there's even a bow-tie clad treat on Christmas Day. In an effort to help you keep track of what's to come and shine a light on some hidden gems, I've come up with a list of notable December TV events.

So grab your eggnog and peruse the following roster, which features appearances from Dominic West, James McAvoy, Emily Watson, Dustin Hoffman, Anna Friel, Pierce Brosnan as well as the 'Sons of Anarchy' crew, the former Saul Tigh and the 'Revenge' divas. 'X-Men' Cast Chooses Their Favorite Superpowers on 'Today' (VIDEO)

The cast of 'X-Men: First Class' on 'Today'The X-Men franchise will get a bit of a reboot next weekend with the release of the prequel, 'X-Men: First Class,' exploring the origins of the mutant super-group. Four cast members -- James McAvoy, January Jones, Zoe Kravitz, and Bill Milner -- appeared on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC) to talk about the film and revealed their choices if they could have any superpower they wanted.

Jones, who plays Emma Frost, would want to have the power of flight, which was Milner's choice at first, but he changed it to wanting a tail. Why would he want a tail? "Dunno," he said, "I think it'd look nice. I can hold a lemonade while I'm on the computer."

Matt Lauer pointed out that a tail is an appendage, not a superpower, and asked if anyone wanted to be able to shoot webs from their hands. McAvoy, who plays Professor X, said that would be hard to explain to your mother when she went to wash your sheet. Spider-Man is a teenager, after all.

The Daily Show: June 23, 2008 - VIDEOS

Wyatt Iron Man"Indecision 2008": The Daily Show hasn't really mocked Barack Obama quite as heavily as the likes of John McCain or Hillary Clinton. In fact, they have made fun of the media's wild, paranoid speculation about Obama more than Obama himself. It was good to see them pick on him a bit for his rather presumptuous faux-Presidential seal, which was quickly pulled and called a "one-time" thing. I loved how most of the audience was too nervous to mock their man. "You know... You're allowed to laugh at him." Also, Barack Obama seems to have made a bit of a flip-flop recently, turning his back on public finance and calling it corrupt, despite showing his support earlier in the race. I hope he flip-flops more if it means seeing John Oliver as Matthew Lesko again.

Universal Pictures presents: Wanted

Wow, a bullet curving right past someone's [Angelina Jolie's] head and rustling her hair. I saw that when it was in The Matrix. Wow, Angelina Jolie is a bad ass. I saw that in Tomb Raider and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Ooh, James McAvoy looks unsure of himself. I saw that in The Last King of Scotland. A movie about assassins? I saw that in Grosse Pointe Blank and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Morgan Freeman is wise and sage. I saw that in, uh, everything Morgan Freeman has ever been in.

But I'll give you one good reason I'll see this movie anyway: James McAvoy. That man is on fire.
