Billy Bush set up a clip of a scene that included Meyer, Gosselaar, and Van Der Beek. "The two giant-headed people," said Meyer. "It's awesome. Check it out. It's like watching Easter Island. Check it out." After the clip, Meyer said he had to give his two scene partners nametags to tell them apart. Finding light to stand in was also a challenge. "I'm just saying, it's like Mardi Gras with them," he said. "It's insane."
The final episode of the series also gives first-time guest star James Van Der Beek -- yes, Dawson himself -- a chance to live out a dream he's had since he bombed a 'L&O' audition at 16. That's right, a young Van Der Beek once tried out for a small role on the original version of the Dick Wolf series. Things didn't go so well for him the first time around, but as we all know, everything turned out okay for the Connecticut teenager.
After the jump, watch AOL TV's exclusive behind-the-scenes clip of the Beek from the Creek describing that disastrous tryout. His episode -- the 'Criminal Intent' series finale -- airs this Sun., June 5, at 9PM ET on USA.
His journey to infamy began when he took off a wizard costume at a music festival. The video of his getting tasered by the police for refusing to get dressed went viral, and subsequent editors added a tiny dot over his genitalia to emphasize his size there.
Tying it all together, Tosh took him on a 'Wizard of Oz'-inspired journey to get a bigger penis and maybe meet Paul McCartney. But, just like in the movie, the wizard proved to be a man behind a curtain. Only this time that man was James Van Der Beek.
It's sort of like all the popular kids from high school went off to college, where they majored in things like the comedy-horror movie, highly publicized relationships and dubious art house films, and now they're back -- a little older, a little wiser and with way better hair. Welcome home, kids.
Sarah Michelle Gellar in 'Ringer,' The CW
Plot Summary: Gellar plays twins -- one a washed-up recovering alcoholic, the other a high-society wife. When wifey disappears under mysterious circumstances, Miss Intervention takes her place, only to discover her sister's life is way more messed up than her own.
According to TVLine, the 'Dawson's Creek' veteran will play Rex Tamlyn, described as an "overconfident, hard-partying playboy." The character is a partner in a Facebook-esque website that's devoted to hooking people up for fleeting romantic trysts.
Like 'The Social Network,' there's a lawsuit around the idea of the site, but with this case there are a few murders mixed in. It's 'Criminal Intent,' what do you expect? Thad and Trent Luckinbill also guest star.
Van Der Beek will appear in the ABC midseason comedy 'Apartment 23' as a fictionalized version of himself.
In other casting news ...
• Martin Short and Aidan Quinn will guest star on Showtime's 'Weeds.' Short will play an attorney and Quinn has been tapped to play the CEO of an investment firm. Other guest stars include Jennifer Jason Leigh, Lindsay Sloane, Pablo Schreiber, David Clennon and Gary Anthony Williams. [Showtime]
One the heels of those hilarious Funny or Die videos and the "Why didn't I think of that?" Web venture known as James Van Der Memes comes the news that the former 'Dawson's Creek' actor is set to star in the ABC pilot 'Don't Trust the B*tch in Apt. 23' -- as himself.
According to Vulture, the man formerly known as Dawson Leery will play "a heightened version of himself" a la Neil Patrick Harris in the 'Harold and Kumar' movies and Matt LeBlanc on 'Episodes.'
They only know Van Der Beek's face from the ever-popular three-second animated GIF of Dawson crying when Joey (Katie Holmes) dumps him. Kids just love to post that on their blogs when they're sad, ironically sad or sarcastically sad. Van Der Beek's face just conveys so many emotional levels.
Rather than turn a blind eye to the popular GIF, Van Der Beek has decided to embrace it. He's teamed with Funny Or Die to bring the public 'Vandermemes.'
More casting news after the jump.
But all of it was a ruse. A week-long ruse to distract us from realizing what was really going to happen in this episode. Since I don't want to spoil it for anyone, come with me to the after-jump portion of our review and then we can talk.

This week we have: 30 Rock, Desperate Housewives, Greek, Grey's Anatomy, Heroes, How I Met Your Mother , Numb3rs, Smallville and Ugly Betty. (SPOILERS FOLLOW!)
Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that Britney Spears guest starred in the March 24 episode of HIMYM. Alicia Silverstone was set to appear in a few episodes (some suspect her character would have turned out to be the mother) but bowed out when Spears was hired because Silverstone was worried that her performance would be over-shadowed by Britney's appearance.
The latest addition to the HIMYM guest star list: Dawson's Creek's James Van Der Beek! Slight spoilers about the role and episode ahead!
(S02E04) I felt like I was watching a bizarro version of Ugly Betty this week. Betty was a cheater, Justin belched, and the guy from Dawson's Creek was an insensitive jerk! What's next--Hilda dressing conservatively? There were several unpleasant surprises in this episode, but Gio's absence probably made some of the viewers happy. It's always difficult to watch the episodes where obstacles are set up for each character, but how else can there be a happy ending later on? Still, it took a while to get over the shock of seeing Justin wearing his Dad's leather jacket and hearing him say things like "Whatevs."
I'm really looking forward to this episode. Green and Senreich have pretty much been obsessed with Star Wars and it has appeared in Robot Chicken many times. But- to be able to recreate the entire series with the blessing of The Godfather? Awesome!
By the way, this will be Mark Hamill's second visit to Robot Chicken. He voiced three characters, one of them was himself, in a 2005 episode. Other celebrity voices in the Star Wars special include Conan O'Brien, James van der Beek, Hulk Hogan, Abraham Benrubi, Breckin Meyer, Joey Fatone, and regular Seth MacFarlane.
(S02E15) No sense in getting into the circumstances about Reid's abduction. I'm assuming that if you've come back to read this, then you saw the spectacular first part that aired after the Super Bowl.
More than anything else, this episode was all about Reid. It's the first time we really got some explanations about his past, his childhood, and what it was like to grow up in his house. It has me a little worried though. Why's that? Because it reminded me a lot of this season's premiere episode. And we all know what that led to - the downfall of Elle.
