'Glee' Original Characters to Graduate McKinley High in 2012, New Ones Will be Added

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jun 20th 2011 7:00AM
'Glee' castRachel, Finn, Quinn and Puck fans: Brace yourselves. It will soon be time to say farewell to the original McKinley High kids as 'Glee' boss Ryan Murphy confirmed that the characters who were juniors last season will graduate in May 2012.

Speaking on Ryan Seacrest's radio show on Friday, Murphy said that the upcoming Season 3 will be senior year for the original cast.

"I don't think of it in terms of eliminating or replacing. Because I think the thing about this cast is people love them and they are incredibly talented. They've left sort of an indelible mark," he said.

"The thing that I wanted to do and the cast wanted to do, we didn't want to have a show where they were in high school for eight years. We really wanted it to be true to that experience. We thought it would be really cool if we were true to the timeline."

Bill Maher and Jane Lynch Do Hilarious Dramatic Reading of Anthony Weiner Sexts (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Jun 11th 2011 10:50AM
Bill Maher and Jane Lynch do a dramatic reading of Anthony Weiner's explicit sexts. On Friday night's 'Real Time,' Bill Maher and 'Glee' star and Emmys host Jane Lynch did a hilarious dramatic reading of Congressman Anthony Weiner's sexual chats with a Las Vegas blackjack dealer named Lisa.

Taking advantage of his ability to say anything on HBO, Maher took the national Weiner-roasting to a new level, pushing the envelope further than any other network late night comedians could this week.

Set to some light chamber music, Maher and Lynch read verbatim from the explicit script and delivered the absurd lines with delightfully deadpan deliveries. Both couldn't help but grin widely throughout the bit.

Check out video of the performance after the jump, but be warned. The content is graphic, sexually explicit, and thoroughly amusing in nature.

'Glee' News: Sue Sylvester Does David Bowie

by Catherine Lawson, posted Mar 31st 2011 8:35AM
Sue Sylvester, 'Glee'In episodes past on 'Glee' we've seen Sue Sylvester channeling Madonna and Olivia Newton-John, and now comes news that she's tapping into her inner Major Tom by taking on David Bowie.

Jane Lynch, who plays the scheming cheerleading coach, told 'Access Hollywood' that "I'm dressing up as David Bowie today. ... Sue Sylvester is going incognito as David Bowie. I mean, come on. Who gets this kind of stuff?"

However, Lynch stopped short of revealing any details about Sue's Bowie look. With the singer's myriad of alter egos to choose from, it's hard to say just which one will appear on screen, though we're pretty sure the outfit will be sweatpants-free.

Jane Lynch Loved Ron Howard on 'Happy Days,' But Took Potsie's Advice Instead (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Mar 16th 2011 4:32AM
Jane Lynch, 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'Jane Lynch should have followed her heart instead of her 13-year old brain. Then, she might have saved what must have been hours of letter-writing. She admitted on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC) to having a huge crush on Ron Howard during his years on 'Happy Days.'

So much so that when some members of the cast were on a local radio station in Chicago promoting the show, she called in and got a chance to talk to them.

It was kind of adorable seeing how excited Lynch was in relating this story, even after all her success. Despite all of her celebrity and fame, she still remembers that sense of excitement from crossing paths with someone famous.

Glee cast
It might be hard to remember a world before 'Glee' now, but just two short years ago, hardly anyone knew who Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Golden Globe winner Chris Colfer were.

The 'Glee' cast members all had lives and jobs before they became household names. Hollywood Life recently reported Cory Monteith was a Wal-Mart greeter before his big break. You know who else had a sucky part-time job in a department store? Finn Hudson. Which got us thinking -- how similar are the actors to their 'Glee' characters?

Let's compare, shall we?

Jane LynchJane Lynch will soon add "published author" to her list of accomplishments.

According to The New York Times, the comedian will release 'Happy Accidents,' an inspirational memoir, in September. The book will cover Lynch's career milestones, such as her time doing improv at Second City and acting in movies like 'Best in Show' and 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin, and more personal material like overcoming alcoholism and embracing her homosexuality.

"Sue Sylvester didn't come out of a vacuum," Lynch told the Times. "She's someone that lives very deeply in me. I kind of liked that shaming, vengeful energy during different periods of my life. I was in therapy and I was complaining about somebody not following the rules, and my therapist basically started laughing at me and said, you must write a monologue about this, because it's hilarious stuff."

by Jean Bentley, posted Dec 9th 2010 12:00PM
Ed O'Neill'Modern Family' patriarch Ed O'Neill said he was misquoted in a recent article that alleged he didn't think Jane Lynch deserved her Emmy for playing Sue Sylvester on the Fox hit 'Glee.'

A TV Guide Canada story earlier this week (which has since been retracted) quoted O'Neill as saying "I love Jane, honestly I do. I'm dying to star in one of Christopher Guest's movies alongside her, but I don't think she should have gotten the Emmy for that part. [Sue Sylvester] is just a one-note character."

However, the actor told Entertainment Weekly, "I never said those words and transcripts of the press conference attest to that fact. ... I absolutely never said, nor do I believe that Jane -- whom I think is an enormous talent -- was undeserving of the award."
