Lisa Lampanelli Announces Engagement on 'Tonight Show' (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Apr 14th 2010 4:23AM
Lisa Lampanelli on 'Tonight Show'"Queen of Mean" comedienne Lisa Lampanelli is engaged, she announced on the 'Tonight Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC). But that wasn't all her news.

Lampanelli thinks she knows the real reason Kevin Eubanks is leaving the show. She even capped off her theory by saying, "The last time I saw a black man that sad, his wife had hit him with his own golf club."

Sitting in the front row of the studio audience was her fiance -- "Jimmy Big Balls" -- whom Jay Leno compared to cast members of 'The Sopranos.' From there, she went on to discuss the difficulties of planning a wedding amid the couple's boisterous Italian relatives.

'Castle' - 'The Late Shaft' Recap

First of all, 'The Late Shaft?' really? That has to already be a porno, right? If it isn't already, I'm sure it's going to be now. After the endless media scrutiny, and of course after Conan's big news, it's really fun to see a new spin on the Late Night Wars. Things got pretty heated between Conan and Jay, so someone getting killed with balsamic vinegar was really the natural progression of the whole thing.

Also, balsamic vinegar? I watch enough Big Pharma commercials to know about MAO inhibitors, but fermentation? Come on, Internet doctors, help me out. Is this even possible in a parallel universe? And if so, why isn't everybody killing everyone this way all the time? Also, a salad sounds pretty good right now.

'Tonight Show' Ratings, Median Age Rise Under Leno

by Andrew Scott, posted Apr 12th 2010 11:23AM
Tonight Show With Jay LenoRatings have skyrocketed since Jay Leno took back the 'Tonight Show' from Conan O'Brien in March, and now, so has the average age of its audience.

According to Media Decoder, the median age for 'Tonight Show' viewers is 56, up 10 years from when O'Brien was hosting, making it the oldest show on the late-night circuit.

Its competitors, though, are not far behind: According to the report, 'Letterman' is at 54, while 'Nightline,' Craig Ferguson, Jimmy Fallon, and Jon Stewart average 55, 52, 50 and 49. Jimmy Kimmel tied with Ferguson, at 52.

Four Reasons Why Leno Got His Audience Back So Fast

by Joel Keller, posted Apr 9th 2010 5:02PM
Jay Leno on his first day back on 'The Tonight Show' on March 1, 2010We at TV Squad have been accused of having an bias against Jay Leno. That might be true; after all, our writers are free to post their opinions on any and all news stories, and my guess is that most of our staff are not big Leno fans (in fact, Bob has said many, many, many times how much he dislikes Jay).

But, one thing we've never denied is that the man can get an audience at 11:35. And, if anyone was fretting that Leno's audience wouldn't follow him back to 'The Tonight Show,' you needn't have worried.

According to Media Life Magazine (via TVWeek), Leno averaged 4.2 million viewers per night last week. Yes, that's one million viewers less than he had a year ago, but it's still a million more than Letterman, whose 'Late Show' has lost about 900,000 viewers since Leno came back. And Leno's pulling almost 1.5 million more viewers than Conan did.

So, why did most of the viewers come back so soon? Four reasons come to mind:

Demi Moore Talks Saving a Life Using Twitter on 'Tonight Show' (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Apr 9th 2010 5:40AM
Demi Moore Talks Twitter on 'Tonight Show'OK, everyone knows Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore are quite possibly the world's biggest Twitter fiends. But to be fair, the couple don't just Tweet to self-promote and/or proclaim their love for each other (though there is plenty of that). On the 'Tonight Show with Jay Leno' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC), Moore said that the social networking tool not only raises awareness for their charities, it actually saved someone's life.

The actress explained, "I had a young man, he'd only sent out four Tweets. One was just a general one, the others were to me and I wrote him back.... And people on Twitter responded, and [local authorities] got there in time and helped to save this man's life."

David Duchovny Puts Jay Leno on the Spot (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Apr 8th 2010 3:15AM
David Duchovny Puts Jay Leno on the SpotActor David Duchovny is apparently not a big Elvis Presley fan, because he recently avoided going on a trip to Graceland. In fact, Duchovny is dismissive of Elvis, and of the whole Graceland concept. "[It's] like Legoland... for a music that I'm not in love with." Unfortunately, Duchovny made this statement as a guest on 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC). And Jay Leno is a huge Elvis fan. And so, Duchovny's casual remark started a long debate.

Does Max Weinberg Want to Leave Conan for Jay?

by Brad Trechak, posted Apr 7th 2010 7:27PM
Max Weinberg is on Team Conan... for now.Let's hear it for high profile defections. According to Movieline, rumor has it that longtime Conan O'Brien bandleader Max Weinberg is seeking the coveted position of bandleader for 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno', a role that is soon to be abandoned by Kevin Eubanks.

While it's somewhat understandable that Weinberg would want the position, it is a bit of a slap to Conan. On the other hand, it's all about what's best for Max Weinberg and while things with Conan are currently up in the air, 'The Tonight Show' is a pretty solid position to be in. Like it or not, there are still a lot of viewers on Team Jay and he continues to pull in ratings despite his brief absence from the 11:30 spot.

At least Weinberg would also now have a lot to talk about with Stuttering John Melendez, who defected to Jay from 'The Howard Stern Show' ages ago.

Randy Jackson Talks 'Idol' Flirting and Leno-Ellen Kiss on 'Tonight Show' (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Apr 6th 2010 7:14AM
Randy Jackson, Ellen Degeneres on 'Tonight Show with Jay Leno'Randy Jackson's visit to the 'Tonight Show' was very... enlightening. Host Jay Leno got him to talk about all the flirting that seems to go on among the 'American Idol' panel, as evidenced by some revealing flirty photos -- Simon Cowell and Ellen Degeneres, even Randy and Ryan Seacrest?! -- that the 'Tonight Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC) had cued up.

Randy joked, "Behind the scenes sometimes we'll all kinda make out -- as friends."

But Jay is one to talk: He and Ellen have actually kissed, and he's got the video proof. Does he think he turned Ellen off men?

Jay Leno Continues to Lose in the Court of Public Opinion

by Kona Gallagher, posted Apr 4th 2010 4:43PM

About a year ago, Jay Leno traveled to Michigan to do a show for unemployed auto workers. It got him some good PR, and I'm sure the folks in attendance enjoyed themselves. It was a pretty positive experience all around. Since then, very little has gone right for Leno PR-wise, and now, a year later, he's even screwing things up in the Wolverine State.

In March of '09, Jaws Jumbo Burgers, a burger joint in Farmington Hills, Michigan, made a "Thank You Jay Leno" burger as a way to thank the late night host for doing those free shows. They offered Leno an all-expense-paid trip back to Michigan to try the burger out, but they never heard back from him.

They sent him emails, hand delivered packages, took out an ad in a newspaper; still nothing. They even started a blog, documenting the process of trying to get Jay to acknowledge them, but it was still radio silence. So now Jaws Jumbo Burgers is about to defect to Team CoCo.

'Celebrity Fit's' K-Fed, Bobby, Nicole Tested on 'Tonight Show' (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Apr 2nd 2010 7:25AM
Kevin Federline, Bobby Brown Tested on 'Tonight Show'Since Kevin Federline, Bobby Brown and Nicole Eggert are being tested physically on 'Celebrity Fit Club,' Jay Leno decided it was time to test them mentally. He quizzed the contestants on last night's 'Tonight Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC). So how did they do?

Well, Nicole knew a tomato is a fruit (not a vegetable) but didn't know why, and then wondered about the kiwi.... Jay was relieved to hear none of Kevin's four kids is home-schooled. And even entertainment knowledge was a stumper, as Bobby Brown completely flubbed the title of a Brad Pitt movie.

Leno: 'Conan Got Screwed'

by Brad Trechak, posted Apr 1st 2010 10:11AM
Joy Behar from CNN's sister station HLN stopped backstage at the "what's old is new again" version of 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno' and managed to snag an interview with Jay. Jay ended up stating how both he and Conan got screwed by the situation at NBC with 'The Tonight Show.' While there is a great deal of truth to his words, Jay is selectively editing history by leaving out his responsibility regarding Conan's tumultuous departure. Here's the video:

Joy Behar Doesn't Hate Glenn Beck -- Sort Of (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Mar 31st 2010 7:53AM
Joy Behar Talks Glenn Beck on 'Tonight Show'Since conservative pundit Glenn Beck talks about Joy Behar on his talk show, it was reasonable for Jay Leno to get her talking about him. On the 'Tonight Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC), he asked 'The View' co-host what she thought of him.

"Yeah, he talks about me. I'm on his list of 'I hate Glenn Beck' [people]," explained Joy. But she said it didn't bother her, and she'd invite him on to 'The View' -- well, after he'd been "neutered."

Then, speaking into the camera, she had a personal message for Glenn Beck, revealing she sincerely doesn't hate him... but using some choice words in the process.

Pam Anderson Talks 'Dancing' and Apolo's "Top Heavy" Comment (VIDEO)

Pam Anderson Talks 'Dancing' on 'Tonight Show'In discussing her experience (so far) on 'Dancing with the Stars,' Pamela Anderson proved she can joke about her, er, assets, too.

"Everyone was telling me, 'Oh, don't do 'Dancing with the Stars''.... But I said I absolutely have to do it," she told Jay Leno on the 'Tonight Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC).

As one clearly not afraid of inciting conflict, Jay then showed her a clip of Apolo Anton Ohno's visit to 'Tonight' on March 3, in which Jay asked the former winner of 'Dancing' for his predictions on this season's champion.

Apolo responded at the time, "Well, Pamela Anderson -- she's a little top heavy."

by Aimee Deeken, posted Mar 24th 2010 10:00AM
Gerard Butler Sings on 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno'Gerard Butler admits he has a penchant for singing everywhere. So, as any good host would do, Jay Leno called him on it last night, asking him for an impromptu performance during his visit to the 'Tonight Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC).

In honor of the Los Angeles location (and several women's squeals from the audience), Gerard rocked out to The Doors' 'L.A. Woman.'

Is he a talented crooner? You decide. Check out the video after the jump.
