Glee's Jayma Mays heading back to Heroes

by Mike Moody, posted Aug 24th 2009 6:30PM
jayma may glee heroesRemember Charlie, the cute and spunky waitress who stole Hiro's heart in the first season of Heroes? (They even released a novel about their short-lived relationship.) Well, she's coming back to the show next season, but reportedly only for one episode. Glee's Jayma Mays will reprise her role as the Texas waitress with an enhanced memory when a dying Hiro takes a trip back in time to finish off his bucket list.

Fans will remember that Charlie met her end thanks to Sylar only a few eps after she first appeared on the show. Hiro tried to save her, but he was unable to change her fate. It's doubtful he'll be able to save her this time, since Mays is only slated to return for one episode, and the actress will be pretty busy this fall with her role on Fox's Glee.

Glee -- An early look

by Allison Waldman, posted May 19th 2009 9:02AM
Lea Michele - GleeIf you heard about Fox's new musical drama/comedy Glee and thought it's probably going to be something like Disney's High School Musical, you're wrong. Gleefully wrong. Glee is one of the best entertainments I've seen on television in a long, long time.

Writer/producer/director Ryan Murphy describes the show as a hybrid, and he's right. It is. For me, I saw elements of the movie Election, plus Fame and Friday Night Lights, with a bit of The Wonder Years thrown in, only it's not nostalgia. Glee is all the best parts of all the above, plus music and dancing and great characters and really witty material.

Pushing Daisies: Pigeon

Pushing Daisies: Pigeon
(S01E04)
Since my co-reviewer Izzy lives in Canada, she gets to see episodes of certain shows before we get to here in the States. One of those shows is Pushing Daisies, which airs on Tuesdays up there. After she saw "Pigeon" last night, she wrote me asking if this was the first episode that was shot after the now-infamous budget cuts were made. I thought last week's episode was the first under those restrictions, but I can see why Izzy might have thought that this one was made on the cheap.

To me, though, the less visual doohickeys there are in a Pushing Daisies, the better. A little bit of snazziness goes a long way with this show, and it leaves more room to actually tell the story. And this week's story was pretty good.
