'Glee' star Jayma Mays stopped by 'Live With Regis and Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated), alongside her 'Smurfs' co-star and guest host Neil Patrick Harris.

Harris was quick to point out that most people would recognize Mays as Emma, the guidance counselor on 'Glee,' but she has a fairly extensive resume of roles on high-profile TV shows like 'Heroes,' 'Ugly Betty,' and even 'Joey,' which was one of her first roles.

Mays remembered having to learn a bit of Japanese for her role on 'Heroes,' although she couldn't reproduce her lines when called upon to do so. After giving it a try she said, "Oh, I don't know what I just said," she said. "I don't know. I think I ordered a Bento box. So if someone could bring that out, that'd be great."

Mays thought her small role on 'Joey' was her first role, but Harris and Kelly Ripa found visual evidence to the contrary, embarrassing Mays with a photo of her as a child dressed as 'Annie.'

The musical drama 'Glee' is pretty hip right now. But does that coolness transfer over to one of the show's stars?

On 'The Late Late Show' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS), Craig Ferguson talked with Jayma Mays -- who plays the OCD-afflicted guidance counselor on 'Glee.' While asking Jayma about her odd first name, Craig learned that Jayma's parents were wannabe hippies who simply made the name up. The hippie thing was strike one against Ms. Mays (the host isn't a fan of them). "Not cool," he said.

Craig gave Jayma another chance to show she was "cool." He placed a dollar bill on his desk and told the actress not to steal it. Unfortunately, Jayma failed this test as well.

After being hyped to the max, did the Madonna episode of 'Glee' deliver the goods? Yes! It did! Not only were the musical numbers fun, inspired, and darn creative, but the storylines about sex, strength, confidence, independence, and individuality all blended well into the theme.

Well, things are starting to get complicated on 'Glee' (Mon., 9:30 PM ET on Fox). On the show, the glee club meets their rival gang, and things start to get a little weird... with sexy results. Or maybe not so sexy, depending on your point of view.

Was it Sectionals or Regionals? Is Quinn still pregnant? What's up with Will and Emma? It's been a small eternity since the last new episode of 'Glee,' and let's face it: those four long months could turn even the most die-hard Gleek's memories of the Fox hit musical into convenience store slush.

So for all those whose show choir recollections have turned a little hazy over this winter hiatus, we've provided a recap (or 'Glee'-cap, if you will) of where the show left off in its 'Sectionals' mid-season finale last December -- as well as a little taste of what's to come in the episodes ahead -- just in time for the series' return tonight at 9:28PM ET.

Gleeks, you'd better make sure your DVR is set to 9:28PM ET on Apr. 13. Why? According to Fox, that's the official time when 'Glee' will return to the airwaves.

While its exact time slot may look a little random, it's likely the decision was made to accommodate 'Glee's' lead-in, 'American Idol,' a live show that has a tendency to run long.

'Glee' will return to its normal 9PM ET time slot the following Tuesday.

Releasing Glee on DVD before the first season is even over was somewhat of an odd move, but one that makes sense when you look at both its fanatical fan base and the fact that it's taking a nearly unheard four-month hiatus (it returns April 13) between the first and second halves of the its premiere season. Basically, FOX knows they have a hit on their hands and they're trying to milk it for everything it's worth.

It's a smart move, considering that the response of most Glee fans (like myself) when they heard that there would be a DVD this quickly was something along the lines of, "Ohmygodgivethatomerightnow.Glee!Glee!Glee!." The days are short and dark; we need some sort of happiness to get us through the next couple of months until the new episodes come out.

My question about the DVD was, how good will it be? I mean, it will obviously have the first 13 episodes, so that's a big plus, but what of the DVD extras? Is there a reason to buy the DVD instead of just getting all of the episodes off of iTunes? The answer to that question is, "it depends on how you feel about video diaries."

(S01E12) While they were in there, I told 'em to go ahead and yank out those tear ducts. Wasn't usin' 'em." - Sue Sylvester

I wouldn't say this is the best Glee episode we've had, but it had some good moments, and of course, that big reveal, which we'll talk about after the jump. The mattress scene was a nice little number, but I wasn't familiar with the song performed by Rachel and Finn, so that didn't do as much for me.

Sue Sylvester was back to true form from her compassionate scene with her sister a few episodes ago. It's hard to believe she'd have that much feeling for her sister, and yet still be a big you-know-what in the rest of her life. Glee breaks down stereotypes in some cases, but I'm not sure Sue falls into that category. She still seems like a caricature to me.

It's Thanksgiving morning as I'm writing this. I've got five pounds of potatoes boiling for our mashed potatoes, the turkey is in the oven, and the butternut squash is cut up for the risotto I'm making. My baby is playing ball with his dad, and the dog is on the couch trying to sleep and just remaining thankful that said baby isn't trying to pet her eyeball right now. I have a lot of things to be thankful for, but as others have said before, me, this is a TV blog, so let's talk about television-related things I'm thankful for.

As we're getting close to the mid-season point, I feel more and more that this is an exceptionally strong season of television-- even with the whole Leno debacle. There are several new shows that I'm quickly falling in love with, and some returning shows that are better than ever. In no particular order, here are things that I am thankful for.

(S01E10) "What does a heart attack feel like?" - Finn, in a panicky call to Kurt after facing Quinn's parents at dinner

The subject of this episode of Glee was ballads. It was learned that the club must perform a ballad at sectionals in a few weeks, and the writers managed to weave the soulful songs into every storyline. The first was "Endless Love," sung by Will and Rachel. It set the tone for one of the storylines -- her crush on the teacher. In fact, the episode was filled with odd-couple pairings, thanks to a hat-draw for ballad partners.

(S04E08) As promised, this week's episode of Heroes took us back to the heydays of the first season. Back when this was a world of wonder filled with new and exciting characters and mystery. Their futures lie before them, and it all centered on Charlie, the poor waitress that Hiro failed time and again to save back then.

Now that he's working on his bucket list before he kicks it, the time has come to head back three years and try to undo her death by Sylar's hand. Which means we got to see HRG, Claire, Hiro, Ando, Sylar and even Isaac as they were three years ago.

The question was whether or not he could change the past and save Charlie, when he failed to before. Furthermore, could he do so without changing all the subsequent events that had happened. He'd already had a taste of success with Ando and his sister, but this sojourn had much higher stakes.

It's no secret that Heroes has been slipping in quality and in the ratings since the end of its first season. Things have improved a bit this year thanks to Robert Knepper's fantastic turn as manscara-wearing carnival boss Samuel Sullivan. Watching Sylar torment Matt Parkman with some Tyler Durden-esque head games has been a hoot too.

But, as we TV critics like to bring up every now and then, the current season isn't nearly as good as that great first season. Maybe that's why Heroes is taking us back to season one, sort of, with the Nov. 2 episode, "Once Upon a time in Texas."

The ep follows Hiro as he travels back in time to try to change the events of season one's episode 8, in which he fell in love with Texas waitress Charlie, played by Glee's Jayma Mays. Fans of the show know that Hiro was unable to save Charlie from Sylar's clutches even though he tried more than once. Will he be able to change history this time?

(S01E07) "I don't trust a man with curly hair..." - Sue

I'll just say right off the bat -- I was a little bored by this episode. I think because it centered on the bickering and manipulations of Sue and Will. It was annoying and sort of made me want to turn the channel.

But I stuck with it because, of course, I had this review to write, but also because of the musical numbers scattered throughout the show. It clarified for me what I love about Glee:

• Musical numbers.
• Kurt. Much more Kurt is needed.
• Any storylines with Jayma Mays (Emma Pillsbury), particularly those involving Matthew Morrison (Will).

(S01E05) "Oh, Bambi, I cried so hard when they shot your mom." - A drunken Kurt to Emma

Ok, after hitting it out of the park since the debut (for me anyway), this episode sort of flatlined for me. At least, it didn't grab me as much as, say, last week's episode with the Beyonce song and the football team dancing on the field. I couldn't wait to get on here and right about that episode, but this week? Not so much. Maybe it's because there was not enough Kurt in this episode. Need.More.Kurt. Need more of Kurt saying lines like, "Glee Club has just been rocked with its first scandal..."

(S01E03) "I'm gay." - Kurt to Mercedes

We're three episodes into Glee, and we continue to learn more about the characters' angst, drama, dreams and passion. Kurt told Mercedes he'd never said those words out loud, but -- like the rest of us (excluding Mercedes) -- he must have realized he was gay. I mean, come on, the kid is clearly gay.

There were a lot of great lines in this episode, but Kurt had some of the best, including this one about his car: "My dad got it for me for my 16th birthday if I swore to stop wearing form-fitting sweaters that stop at the knee. What he doesn't know won't hurt him." (He's wearing a red form-fitting sweater that stops at the knee.)
